Late Night Party

On Liu Xinyu's way back home, she was handed a couple of pamphlets from different restaurants too. Seeing that this neighborhood shop wasn't far from the community, Liu Xinyu decided to come down to make a call for delivery for dinner later. Why eat cold food when you can get hot?

She never knew the importance of food delivery apps until she arrived at a time when this luxury wasn't available. She felt it even more deeply when the delivery from the dumpling restaurant took over thirty minutes to arrive. Who would give the restaurant or the delivery guy a five-star review if they took more than thirty minutes to make a delivery? She didn't even order much and the restaurant was supposedly just two streets away from her.

Slow service!

No wonder so many businesses were ousted in the race of the modern, fast-paced era!

It was already 7 o'clock by the time she was done with the dinner and then went to clean up the kitchen. She didn't just clean the kitchen but feeling itchy, she started cleaning up the whole place and rearranged the minimalistic furniture, giving the whole place a new look. Even though it was a bit weird to use the broom at first, it wasn't rocket science so she picked up the skill quickly.

Yiyi looked at the busy bee who was diligently sweeping, mopping, cleaning the cobwebs, and dusting the furniture, and re-evaluated Liu Xinyu once more. To say that this girl was raised by parents who pampered her and coddled her won't be wrong but to say that they over-indulged would be wrong. They clearly managed to find a perfect balance and really raised an independent girl.

As Liu Xinyu was arranging the scattered books and old newspapers in the second bedroom which were gathering dust there, she managed to find quite a few books related to Architecture like The History of Architecture, Architecture Graphics, and Architectural Styles. Although she seemingly didn't show it, her mind was still stuck on this new finding related to her father.

But for now, she couldn't ask him more about this. She looked at the now well-arranged very empty second bedroom as she narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. Then she went down to the mart again and started chatting happily with the lady boss there. The middle-aged lady boss was enthusiastic and more than willing to speak with someone as sweet-mouthed as Liu Xinyu.

"This girl's sweet mouth is the real deceiving ghost around here," were Yiyi's thoughts as she just silently followed and watched Liu Xinyu running around. But she was even more shocked to see that Liu Xinyu managed to buy a single bed with a mattress cheaply just using her sweet mouth.

People even came to deliver it at home at this late in the evening. Liu Xinyu was quite pleased with herself right now as she felt that she managed to solve a big problem for her father. Yi Qin won't have to sleep on the floor anymore. But she was truly a pauper now since she spent over 800 yuan just buying this bed for him.

Forget it! Money can be earned.

After convincing herself this way, she went to wash up. She hadn't showered in the morning and was still wearing the same clothes as yesterday. She had to clean up now and change into the pajamas that she specifically bought today.

Looking at the conservative cotton pajamas with long trousers and long sleeves, Liu Xinyu missed her silk nightdress. Her cute peach-colored shorts and her top even had a cute black bow.

Liu Xinyu waited until 10 but seeing that Yi Qin hadn't returned, she went back to her room to sleep. Liu Xinyu first massaged her foot before lying down to sleep. She was tired. She didn't just go shopping, she also used her brain to read so many books for nothing, and then she made her brain run the extra mile to win that chess game with Qi Yuze.

Thinking about Qi Yuze, Liu Xinyu had to say that he was a tough opponent. She was quite complacent with her chess skills after winning games on a computer. But she forgot that she shouldn't underestimate the human brain.

Later, she walked back home and ran around doing so many things. It'd be weird if she wasn't tired. Even if she had built very good stamina over the years because of being a sportswoman, she had also been pretty much like a rice bug in the past two months or so and didn't even exercise much. Her rusty muscles needed some oiling again.

With all sorts of things in mind, Liu Xinyu slowly went to sleep. It was supposed to be a peaceful night but after a while, Liu Xinyu started hearing loud music and then there were sounds of chattering and some indistinct noises that she couldn't make sense of.

"Why are the neighbors so insensitive around here?" asked Liu Xinyu in a groggy voice. She picked up her watch from the side table and looked at the time. It was the middle of the night. She had barely slept for a couple of hours and was woken up by such a ruckus. Who would be happy?!

Clearly, Liu Xinyu wasn't. Her temper wasn't as mild as Yi Qin's. She was a little fierce.

Rubbing her eyes, she got down from the bed, ready to go out to catch the noisy neighbors and smash their heads for ruining her sleep. She had just come out of the bedroom when she heard the sound of the door closing.

"Did I wake you up? Sorry!"

Liu Xinyu looked up at Yi Qin who looked tired and smelled like alcohol and cigarettes. She scrunched up her nose in disgust as she asked, "Did you drink?"

"No," he answered as he rubbed the bridge of his nose. "But I was at a place where everyone else around me was drinking." Yi Qin usually didn't like such places and didn't frequently visit them either. But he had asked for a favor from a friend and to that friend's older brother he had to enter such venues. "The smell got on me too. It's pretty bad. I'm sorry for disturbing your rest."

"It isn't you. It's the loud neighbors! Are they having a party at this time? Why is the music so loud?" Liu Xinyu complained in an aggrieved tone and even sounded like she was acting spoiled with him.

Yi Qin arched his brows at her and asked, "Music? Party? Neighbors? What are you talking about? We only have one neighbor on this floor. The other two houses are empty."

Liu Xinyu paused when she heard this answer. She had a guess in her head and closed her eyes as she yawned and turned to walk back to her room saying, "My dreams are getting more and more realistic." She hurriedly entered the bedroom and closed the door behind her. She looked at Yiyi who had been holding back her laughter. Liu Xinyu was seething at the moment as she asked, "Who is having the party?"

"Just some random ghosts who find this new building quite beautiful and comfortable as their new residence," answered Yiyi confirming Liu Xinyu's guesses.

"Fuck! Even ghosts have sophisticated tastes now, eh? And they are even holding housewarming parties. Great! Nothing could get better than this."

Yiyi chuckled at her words as she reminded her, "I told you, never say never. You still have a lot more to see."

"Go and shut them up, I want to sleep!" said Liu Xinyu as she covered herself with a blanket and hid her head under the pillow just to escape the assault of the loud music. She'd be fine if it was pop music, why were these ghosts even listening to opera music at this time? What kind of a housewarming party was this?!

Yiyi stayed where she was watching Liu Xinyu tossing and turning. Feeling a bit pity for this human partner she had, she went to show her might to those thoughtless ghosts who were disturbing her rest. But as she entered the room, she looked at the middle-aged auntie ghosts gathered around the table playing mahjong with loud music playing on the old record player behind them. There were even some aunties who were cheering around the table for the four aunties stuck in the game.

She straight went to turn off the record player and when the other ghost aunties noticed her. "Hey, little girl, where did you come from? Why did you turn off the music?"

"Because it was hurting my ears," was Yiyi's answer. "If you wanna play, play here nicely. Don't make me throw you all out of here."

"Such impudence! Show some respect. We are all older than you," said one the oldest aunties as she stared at Yiyi contemptuously. She felt like Yiyi didn't have any manners at all.

Yiyi gave them all a look and laughed, "If we are talking about seniority, no one can match mine here." Her hand slammed on the table that they used to play the mahjong and all the aunties were left gasping in disbelief when they saw that the wooden table actually split. "Do you still wanna try to see how impudent I can get?"

All the ghost aunties went to stand at a corner cowering in fear as they didn't even dare to look at Yiyi. You need to know that they were just ordinary ghosts who couldn't touch physical things. But Yiyi was different from them. Apart from just being invisible, she was very much capable of everything that humans could do.

She was very satisfied with this result and went back to the house where Liu Xinyu was sleeping with a frown. Feeling that she deserved a reward, Yiyi went to open the fridge and took out the extra cake that Yi Qin had packed earlier. She was very happy to try this one. She was craving it for so long.
