Chapter 11: The Game of Research

Megan sighed and thought about the slider change she’d made before she logged on. It was enough that she knew that she was dreaming, that she was playing a game, but not enough for her to remember any real details about her waking life. She idly wondered what her real life was like.

It had to be interesting, she reasoned. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have chosen to be a researcher as part of a game.

It felt like she’d been doing this for hours. She was going through legal documents, seeing if there was any precedent or existing patents that would get in the way of the prototype system that had almost been destroyed or stolen just yesterday.

She saw a notification from the company but she ignored it. It was probably one of those messages that went out to everyone.
