Chapter 18: What Does It Mean to be Megan?

Jorah hated running. He only did it because it forced him to get some air. And most of the time, he was walking, not running.

It wasn’t that exercise bothered him. He kept himself in decent enough shape. Not so much as to be understandably vain, but enough to be healthy. The real problem with running was the boredom. If he let his mind wander, he’d wipe himself out too quickly. If he wanted to run any distance, he needed to concentrate on his breathing.

And that was boring. So his mind would wander. Hence, mostly walking.

As he walked, he thought about how real his dream life was becoming. It was like every time he played the game, it became a bit more real to him. He noticed the smells of the park around him, and that made him remember smelling the city zones in the game. The mix of exhaust, dried blood, and sweat that permeated the air in the second zone, compared to the nearly antiseptic smell of the corporate zone.
