Chapter 22: Vampiric Experiment

“Hey! Stay focused!” Noah said, snapping his fingers in front of Lucy’s face. “Constantly chasing after her is a sure fire way to get caught. You won’t need anyone to read your mind!”

Lucy came back into focus and saw Noah and the human staring at her.

“Sorry, you’re right. You’re right.” Lucy shook out her arms and her body trying to refocus on the task at hand. If she could read OTHER people’s minds, she could even use it as a preventative measure. She had to focus.

Lucy stared at the human. She wasn’t sure what she was supposed to be doing in order to hear thoughts. How was she supposed to connect to this human mind?

“Are you afraid?” Lucy asked, cocking her head, responding to a twitch in the human's face.

“Only a little bit, of you. You are very intense, especially with your fangs out.”

Lucy reached up and touched her face. She hadn’t realized she was so exposed. She forced herself to relax and contract her fangs.

“I’m sorry, I’m not going to hurt you.”
