Kibe would find himself at the police station the next day, in cuffs along with Takashi. Both were sitting in chairs. Their hands in their laps.
"Alright you two, we're going to separate you guys in moment so we can ask you some questions. So get a little comfortable." said an officer as he then walked away, Kibe watched him walk away.
"An unfortunate thing, what happened to that girl." Takashi said as he played with his cuffs, Kibe just sat there.
"Seems, tell me something Kibe. What did you do on that rooftop with her? Did you speak to her? Did you tell her to do it? Did you rape her Kibe?" Takashi asked, but Kibe said nothing and just kept quiet.
"Did you-"
"Excuse me sir?" Kibe asked to a officer who was passing them and typing on his phone.
"Yes?" He answered
"May I use the bathroom? I've been sitting her for over 10 minuets." asked Kibe, the officer looked at him and then Takashi who was just sitting there twiddling his thumbs.
"Sure kid, go nuts." said the officer as he got back on his phone. Kibe would then get up and go to the bathroom. But before he went inside though he'd look around to see there weren't as many officers around the office as he had assumed, meaning most were either out, training or had the day off.
"Empty." Kibe said as he went into the bathroom. As he did he would then go into the stall closet to the door. He then proceeded to grab the toilet paper and stuff all of it into the toilet. He then would do the same for each one. Kibe then left the final stall and watched as all of toilets began to overflow, he then walked out for a moment and looked over to Takashi who was sitting down calmly. He then saw Kibe walk out.
"Oh Kibe! Good to see you again. I gotta ask, what is that little trick you do when you disappear like that? To be fair, its a bit unfair. I can't even see you." Takashi said
"...None of your business." Kibe said as he sat down next to Takashi, the officer from before then came back.
"Kibe, I want you to know something. I'm holding this big get-together later this week. Everyone is going to be there. Everyone looking for a spot in my play of course, So as you were doing...well whatever in the bathroom-
"WHAT THE!?" the officer then ran over as he saw the bathroom flooding, a few others ran inside with him.
", I want you there. Not because I feel like you'll get any kind of role, but because I want you to realize just how big the world is...and how far below it you are." Takashi said
"So above it are you Takashi?" Kibe asked
"I like to think I set the stage for everyone to decide that. How long has been since you've been on the spotlight? From how you look, I'd say seven years ago maybe?" Takashi said, Kibe looked at him, his eyes moving to Takashi's which also looked back at him. The officer in front of them was going through papers and taking some notes on what was being said to him, most likley by the chief.
"Ah haaa, so theres a reaction. And here I thought you were just a bunch of dos and donts. Seems like your not the only one, who can push buttons." Takashi said with a smile
"Dos and don'ts? Huh, well, Takashi. Reactions and actions are part of the world, part of humanity. Thats what makes people so predictable though, once you realize that everyone's reactions are all written in books. Well then you've seen just about how anyone and everyone reacts." Kibe said
"Well Kibe, not everyone is like books." Takashi said
"I know, thats why I read people." Kibe said as the officer went over to them with some papers.
"Alright you two, My name is detective Ando Miyuki. I will be asking you both questions about what happened yesterday. Nori Kibe. Will you please come with me." said Miyuki as he walked away with Kibe following behind him. Eventually they'd reach an interrogation room.
"Go ahead and take a seat across the table, I don't want you to feel pressured or that I'm here to break you. I just want some answers is all then your free to go." said Mr. Miyuki. Kibe could already tell what this was, the detective was looking to slowly goot him into giving away that he was behind it. He planned to ask a string of basic questions and then edge his way closer to the cliff where he could then soar into any he so chooses. Kibe took a good look around without moving his head, there was one way glass. From the detective's posture and way his hands were much calmer than before. He could decue that he wasn't putting on any kind of show.
Which meant no one was o the other side of the glass, there files on the table. Likely from school records and information that they could grab about him. As Kibe looked at the man he noticed the man's eyes. They were calm yet seemed to show signs of a past problem. The man had no ring on his finger, but from the pressure on his ring finger and the way he was going about using his hands. It was easy to see that he was indeed married, but likely recently divorced. The man didn't look like the violent type, a drinker? No. Maybe he was the one who was getting beaten or that his wife was the one with the problem. He could also make out the wrinkles on his face and tired expression. The man had a child. How many years was uncertain, but he knew he had one. He also took into account of the detective's outfit. His outfit was also a bit scuffed, the collar worn out a tad bit, he must have just gotten it roughly two months ago. Though no colla should be that worn out, unless hes a bit of a slob. He also played with the folder a bit and his hands, playful? ADHD? There were many avenues for this conversation to go in with this information.
But only one was the right one.
"Alright, so lets begin with a simple question. How has your day been?" Mr. Miyuki said
"If I may ask, why don't we just get to the real questions. I'd rather not waste any time and I have to be home for dinner. It's my turn to cook as for you too I assume." Kibe said, Mr. Miyuki looked at him a bit taken aback by that last part, but kept his composure either way.
"Fair enough, though I usually like some simple conversation. But very well, What were you doing on the rooftop of the school when Akia jumped that evening?" asked Mr. Miyuki
"Eating my lunch. It was salmon with rice." Kibe answered
"Others say they saw you looking down at Akia when she jumped." Mr. Miyuki said
"Thats true, though I reckon you also would look down if someone committed suicide right in front of you. Especially jumping from around 3 stories." Kibe said
"Takashi said before he got here, that he saw you talking to her before the incident." Mr. Miyuki said
"As was he, he was walking her to class." Kibe said
"I couldn't help but notice your mother works in department surrounding healthcare. Must be pretty nice to have a nurse looking after you. They do god's work." Mr. Miyuki said with a smile as he opened his folder he brought.
"Hes prodding, its any easy tactic to gain familiarity." Kibe thought
"If we could move forward with the questions I'd appreciate it." Kibe said
"...Hes calm, the other boy was balling his eyes out earlier just from being here. Not to mention was hysterical in the car ride here. Yet hes entirely calm, not a single sense of hesitation or nervousness. Either hes innocent or a good liar." Mr. Miyuki thought as he looked through Kibe's information in the folder. There were a few lines of information regarding his parents and previous schools he'd been to. Apparently he had been in accident regarding his father years ago, but no information beyond that was given.
"It says here that you had a bit of incident with your father years back, want to talk abou-
"No." Kibe said, Mr. Miyuki looked at him a bit shocked at the cut-off.
"I don't have desire to speak about my father, mother or anything regarding my personal life. I assure you that I'm a very average person. You'd benefit nothing from asking me personal questions." Kibe said
"Alright then, so what Tatsuo? Anything about him? You two apparently had some conflict in school before. The audio from the footage of you two in the library was scuffed, but from what it seems. You two indeed did have some contact with one another. Mind giving me some info about that Mr.Nori?" Mr. Miyuki said as he got his pen ready.
"I assure you, that I do not involve myself with delinquent behavior. I can't imagine what could have caused him to make such a unfortunate decision, but I can assure you that I played no part in it." Kibe said
"Mhmm, alright then." Mr. Miyuki said as he started writing down some stuff, as a detective and officer it was his job to notice all the little things and see any and all signs of possible foul play and lies, but this student. He couldn't pick up anything from him. It was almost like as if the young man had never committed anything in his life. Mr. Miyuki was shocked on how clean and calm the student appeared to be.
"How old are they?" Kibe asked
"Excuse me?" Mr. Miyuki asked
"Your child, how old are they?" Kibe asked, Mr. Miyuki froze for a moment, he gave no idea or even eluded to the idea that he had kid. How did this guy know?
"...Seven." Mr. Miyuki answered
"I see, just thought I'd ask." Kibe said, Mr. Miyuki looked at him one more time and then got back to writting.
"Hes concerned, right now your asking yourself how I could have come to that conclusion off of no evidence or possible elusions of a protentional child." Kibe thought to himself, a minute would go by before Kibe asked another question.
"I couldn't help but notice something Mr. Miyuki." Kibe said
"Oh yea?" He asked
"Your ring finger, you have a child yet no ring. Could it be your divorced? You don't strike me as someone who sleeps around." Kibe said
"Hey, I'm the one asking the questions here and besides. I isn't like I wanted it." He said
"So she filed it. But why would she? No doubt it has something to do with his friendly behavior. Women are attracted to strength and cunningness. They find those two qualities and two others to be the most important in a man. The other two being dependence and security. He does a lot with his hands and his suit is a little scuffed and worn out at the collar." Kibe thought as he looked at him.
"You think it had something to do with your slob like behavior?" Kibe said
"What did you say?" Mr. Miyuki asked with a stern tone
"Your outfit is a bit ragged, very unprofessional for someone working in the force." Kibe said
"Listen here, I don't know what your getting at, but I am no damn slob! I just tend to be a little messy is all." Mr. Miyuki said with a stern and aggressive tone
"Enough for her to leave you for it?" Kibe said
"I'M NOT A SLOB!" Mr. Miyuki shouted as he stood up
"Then what was it?" Kibe asked
"THE BITCH LEFT ME FOR SOMEONE ELSE!...She...she left me." Mr. Miyuki said with aggression in his voice, but it wasn't towards Kibe. It was towards himself. Kibe watched as the detective sat back down, his hands now a bit shaky. He could tell this was very personal and that he and his ex-wife were close.
"She....she was my best friend. We promised to be together since we were kids...I don't...I don't understand." Mr. Miyuki said with sadness in his voice, his eyes were at the table as he looked like he was close to tears. It had indeed been recent.
"Women can be unpredictable detective, many don't know what they want. Even after having it for years. Women like to play games, they like to lie and more importantly they like to play. They love to play with men's emotions. Perhaps she was playing you." Kibe said
"NO! Mio would never, she isn't like that." Mr. Miyuki said
"Then why would she leave you and your child? Mr. Miyuki I do in fact believe you are suffering from depression and that is affecting your capabilities to work." Kibe said
"No, no I'm fine. I told them I can still do this." Mr. Miyuki said
"Then why are you crying, yelling and shaking." Kibe said, Mr. Miyuki didn't even notice he was, he looked at himself and completely broke down. He hadn't gotten over it and wasn't ready to work as Kibe had said. Kibe then got up and walked over to him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Its alright, many have recovered from this and I don't doubt you will too. All it takes is just a little time. And if things don't work out. Then there is always the method Tatsuo used. Now I believe that this interrogation is over. As it now stands, you are unfit to hold out the rest of this. I'm leaving." Kibe said, the detective didn't know what to think or how to respond. His eyes filed with tears as he fell against the table. Kibe left the interrogation room and proceeded to the front desk.
"Excuse me, I need these removed." Kibe said
"Hm? Um, aren't you under interrogation?" said the woman at the desk
"I was, Mr. Miyuki is dispatched me and unfortunately broke down in the room we were in. I believe its about his wife." Kibe said, the woman looked over and then back to Kibe.
"I'm going to go check on him. Stay here." the woman said. She left for the interrogation room, while Kibe then looked for any cameras on him and for people may be watching him. There were a few people there and some eyes on him too.
"HEY THE BATHROOM IS FLOODING!" shouted a woman, to which then the eyes that were on him then went to the woman who was pointing at the bathroom. Some of the officers went over and as they were all distracted Kibe walked out of the police station. As he did he'd see some officers and a few other people too. Though they wouldn't notice him as he walked by. He didn't bring his phone with him so he didn't have to go looking for it. As he made his way down the block and further from the station he then walked into a nearby ally. He stopped and looked at the handcuffs on his wrists.
"These cuffs are some good, fabricated steel, they have a double lock engaging pin for security and weigh about 10 oz. Good quality too. Unfortunately, I don't look all too good with cuffs and I can't show up anywhere wearing them." Kibe said as he looked around the ally for a tool that he could perhaps use to lock pick them, but found nothing around.
"I guess I'll have to just break them off." Kibe said, he then immediately pulled his hands apart breaking the cuffs. He then cracked his fingers and hands, the veins popping from them as he put strength into his hands and began to force the cuffs from around his wrist. He then felt his wrist and threw the cuffs away. He proceeded to walk home and down the street.
"Humans have limits in their body, inhibitors or limiters that keep them from accessing 100% of the strength they truly have. This is because of the fact that the human body is designed for survival. So anything that could possibly damage the body or break something is usually cut off. Hence the limiters. They keep humans from tearing muscles and breaking bones, as we aren't designed to be lifting cars or punching walls.
I wasn't born with limiters to my strength. Though I am aware it can still cause irreversible damage, which is why I use my 100% strength sparingly." Kibe thought to himself as he continued to walk down the street. He'd eventually arrive home and close the door behind him and take off his shoes.
"Welcome home Kibe, how was your day?" his mother asked, he walked into the living room and saw her sitting down and watching TV with some food.
"It was ok, I got sent to the police station though." Kibe said
"Oh, did you get into any trouble?" she asked as she didn't turn her head from the TV
"No." Kibe said
"Well alright then, food is on the counter. Its your favorite salmon and rice." she said
"Thank you." Kibe said as he walked over and made himself some dinner.
"Akia, Takashi and the student council. They're all connected, but how though. Her last words have been playing in the back of my mind like a record. I need the information that she no doubt gave them, whatever Takashi said to her to cause her to jump will be the only way I get out of being a suspect for this case. The question now becomes, how?" Kibe said, thats when the doorbell would ring.
"Can you get that dear? his mom asked, Kibe put his bowl down and walked to the front door. He looked through the peep hole and saw it was Mi. She was wearing a turtleneck and a black skirt. Kibe opened the door and looked at her, her face came to life with joy.
"Kibe! Thank goodness, everyone is talking about it! You, Akia and the suicide. All of it is everywhere. When I heard you got taken down to the station I was worried...so I came here to...well.." Mi stuttered over her words as she blushed a little. Clicking her black shoes as she tried to muster what she wanted to say.
"Mi, always so ready to jump in and be nosey." Kibe thought
"Well, I wanted to come and see you. Make sure you were ok." Mi said as she looked at him. Kibe looked down at her. He didn't say anything. He was thinking.
"Sorry, is this a bad time?" Mi asked
"No not at all. Do you want to come in?" Kibe asked
"Oh, I don't want to be a bother to you, I can just go." She said waving at him
"You sure? My mom is here." Kibe said, Mi's eyes burst to more life than Kibe had seen in a while.
"REALLY?!" Mi shouted as she completely barged in nearly knocking Kibe over.
"Geez." Kibe said as he closed the door. Mi took her shoes off before she ran to the living room with Kibe following her.
"MRS.NORI!" Mi shouted in joy, to which Kibe's mom winced, he face making a frustrated look as she then paused what she was watching. She turned her face to Mi and smiled at her.
"Mi! How nice it is to see you! How have you been?" Mrs. Nori said as she walked over and gave Mi a hug. Kibe simply looked at them as he then walked over to the kitchen and grabbed his bowl of food.
"Its been so long, how have you been?" Mrs. Nori asked
"I've been well, I've made a ton of friends this school year and I have some big plans!" Mi answered
"Thats great to hear! Do you want to have some of my famous salmon and rice? It's Kibe's favorite as you know." She asked
"Oh no, thats ok. I just got back from eating some snacks. I'll be ok." Mi bowed
"Hehe, ok, well suit yourself. I'm going to keep watching my show. Kibe went upstairs if you're looking for him." Mrs. Nori said as she sat back down on the floor, Mi looked behind her, she could have sworn Kibe was there. She went upstairs and to Kibe's room. She knocked on the door.
"Its open." Kibe said, Mi opened the door and saw him at his desk eating and doing something in a notebook. Mi closed his door behind her.
"Hey, you ok?" Mi asked
"Is there a reason I shouldn't be?" Kibe asked
"Its just I know you and Akia were-"
"We weren't anything. Not even what you'd call acquaintances." Kibe said as he turned the page of his notebook and kept writing. Mi took a sigh of relief.
"So, how'd it go? What did they ask you?" Mi asked
"It went as you think it did, they asked their questions and couldn't prove anything." Kibe said, Mi nodded as she then went over and sat on his bed.
"Well, do you have any plans for this school year? They have some excellent stuff going on right now." Mi asked
"No." Kibe said, Mi could read the room, she knew he wasn't paying any attention to her and that whatever he was doing was clearly mor important.
"...What about you?" Kibe asked, Mi's head perked up as she looked to him and saw him looking at her. She smiled.
"Well, Takashi is hosting auditions for his play this coming month. I figured I'd audition for it. Try something new." She said
"A play? What about?" Kibe asked
"It's called the shadow's kiss. Its a romance." She said, as she kept rambling on about it, Kibe then had found his way in. He now knew how to get closer to Takashi and learn just what it was that may have happened between him and Akia.
