Jerome was almost scared to death, "Why is it moving on its own? What's going on?"
With one hand pulling Jerome behind her, Vivian said, "Don't be afraid."
As the car approached the glass window, less than 20 centimeters away, Vivian calmly pressed a button on the screen, and the car stopped steadily, avoiding a tragic collision.
Vivian raised an eyebrow, "See, in the situation of autonomous driving facing transparent glass, the car's safety distance was less than 20 centimeters, even worse than a pedestrian test. Now, do you still think your safety measures are foolproof?"
"A trivial trick," Len sneered at Vivian, finally taking a step forward.
"I'll inform everyone to gather in the conference room."
Vivian knew she had persuaded him.
She breathed a sigh of relief, then glanced at Jerome, who was still holding onto her waist, "Can you let go of me now, Mr Williams?"
Jerome snapped out of his thoughts, quickly releasing Vivian from his tense grip.
He touched his nose, changing the subject, "What did you do now? Isn't this the touchscreen in the lab? Why did the car start on its own?"
"For the convenience of engineers to control the situation at any time, the networks in the R&D labs are generally interconnected. By changing a system, the touchscreen can connect and control experimental vehicles with the main computer in the R&D lab," Vivian explained briefly, then looked at Jerome with a faint expression, "Now, Len probably won't object anymore. Where is the conference room? Let's meet your team."
The core team consisted of five members, and Vivian had heard their names on various occasions.
Combined with her own high profile as a female automotive engineer, there was no need for elaborate introductions.
Since the moment they entered the conference room, Jerome seemed lost in a daydream.
The scene of him nervously holding onto Vivian played in his mind like a slow-motion replay.
Over the years, Jerome had remained clean, insisting that no one in the world was worthy of his excellence.
Today was the first time he had come so close to a girl, even going so far as to awkwardly encircle her waist in a moment of panic.
Jerome looked down at his hands, feeling the touch still lingering on his fingertips.
It felt peculiar; Vivian didn't appear delicate, yet her waist felt fragile as if it could snap with a little force.
The decisive move Vivian made to pull him behind her lingered in his chest, causing a lingering sensation of tension.
He began to doubt if Vivian deliberately tried to charm him, despite seeing through it all.
Was this the CEO's indulgence?
Jerome shook his head, smiling at his own thoughts.
Vivian was indeed lucky to receive even a slight favor from him.
"Mr Williams," Vivian frowned, staring at the CEO who was smiling like an idiot and impatiently knocked on the table, "The meeting is over. If you don't leave, I'll go first."
Jerome snapped back to reality, realizing that all eyes were fixed on him.
He immediately sat up straight, "Let's proceed as discussed earlier. Get along well, and the meeting is adjourned!"
After saying this, he stood up first, leaving the engineers bewildered.
What did he just say?
Didn't we just introduce ourselves?
What was there to execute?
On the other hand, Jerome, with a completely different mindset than when he entered, stood next to Vivian in the elevator.
He felt uneasy throughout the ride.
Wanting to say something, but feeling shy, his gaze remained on Vivian's waist.
However, whenever the girl's eyes drifted towards him, he immediately averted his gaze, as if scalded.
This repeated until the two walked out of the elevator at the main entrance.
Vivian noticed that Jerome had been absent-minded since they left.
Thinking he was still concerned about the car, she comforted him, "Don't worry; I'll strive to find out the bugs in the shortest time possible, pushing your car to market. I won't let you incur losses."
She hadn't even married him, and she was already thinking of helping him make money.
Jerome, feeling both warm and touched, said, "Don't stress too much. I have ton of money. Just take care of yourself."
Flexing his wealth again.
This guy really can't be sympathized with. Vivian licked her lips, "I'm leaving."
Seeing the woman turn around, Jerome suddenly felt a sense of reluctance.
"Wait!"
Without much thought, he called out to her.
Vivian, strangely stopping her steps, turned around.
Jerome decisively stepped forward and hugged her as if it were the most natural thing, saying, "I'll give you a hug. No need to thank me."
Vivian:?
In no time, Jerome released his arms.
His face carried a bit of pride mixed with a hint of embarrassment because the hug had been so smooth and natural.
It left the usually sharp-minded Vivian unable to comprehend his actions.
But fortunately, the two might not have much interaction in the future.
Vivian tapped her cheek with her tongue, "Goodbye."
Just as she was about to leave, a sharp voice came from the stone pillar, "Vivian, admit it now! I've caught you!"
A too-familiar voice made Vivian's right eyelid twitch again.
In the next moment, a slightly plump woman emerged from behind the stone pillar, wearing a triumphant expression.
"Aunt, why are you hiding here?"
