Samson's natural love for cars was particularly strong, and this sentiment intensified in Vivian's home.
Samson had a special affection for cars from a young age, especially as MFC gradually became a benchmark for domestic car brands.
His admiration for the current helmsman, Jerome, knew no bounds.
Now that his idol was right beside him, Samson wouldn't miss the opportunity to talk to him.
He ran into the room and brought out a notebook for Jerome to autograph, calling him "brother-in-law" and behaving affectionately.
Samson's admiring gaze made Jerome feel extremely pleased.
He almost fulfilled every request from the boy.
Samson thought Jerome did all these out of his love for Vivian. It moved Samson deeply and made him his life idol as well.
Overwhelmed by this admiration, Samson couldn't help but ask, "Brother-in-law, why did you fall for my sister?"
Vivian:?
What was this?
Did Samson imply that he wasn't worthy of Jerome?
She didn't reject him even when he acted like a fool.
Now she was being questioned in such an unjust manner.
Vivian found it utterly unacceptable.
Jerome, upon hearing Samson's question, instinctively turned to look at Vivian, who stood on the side radiating anger.
Though she was attractive, she was no gentle at all, and while she had the capability, she also tended to mix personal and professional matters.
After contemplating for a moment, he responded, "Your sister pursued me, and I was moved by her sincerity."
This was ridiculous!
Vivian burst into laughter, exhaling a breath, and kicked Samson away.
Pointing at Jerome, she said, "You, come with me."
Samson, who had been eavesdropping, perked up, "Where are you going? Take me with you!"
Vivian gritted her teeth, "My room. Are you coming?"
Samson immediately covered his face, howled, and collapsed onto the sofa.
"So it turns out my sister is the one who took action. I'm still a child; I can't handle hearing all this happening in front of me."
Jerome, upon hearing Vivian's words, found his thoughts involuntarily drifting back to the moment he had held the girl a few hours ago.
His cheeks flushed, and he earnestly shook his head, "I think this might not be appropriate."
Vivian completely ignored Jerome's words, grabbed him, and pushed him toward her room before slamming the door shut.
Jerome now resembled a inexperienced newly wedded wife, sitting timidly at the edge of the bed.
"Although I agreed to be with you, it doesn't mean I allow our relationship to progress so rapidly in such a short time. I hope you calm down. It's too fast; I haven't mentally prepared myself for this!"
"Jerome Williams."
This was the first time Vivian had addressed him by both his first and last names.
She wore a thin layer of anger on her delicate face.
"I don't care whether you're pretending or truly clueless right now. Listen to me. If you feel uncomfortable because of Samson's actions that day at the university, and if you think I forced you and find it hard to face my aunt, then let me apologize on his behalf. My aunt's health hasn't been good lately, and if deceiving her like this burdens you, you don't need to explain our relationship now. Just go out and say you have something to do, leave my house, and I'll pretend nothing happened. I'll handle the rest on my own."
Jerome didn't fully grasp Vivian's words at first.
It took him several minutes to process, and his thoughts gradually became clear.
He finally understood why the girl was upset.
Did Vivian think that he had reluctantly agreed to be with her?
Did she believe he felt coerced and was now angry about it?
Unexpectedly, the plot of a melodramatic novel was unfolding in his own life.
However, as Jerome calmed down, he reflected on the relationship between him and Vivian.
Admittingly, his agreement had been hasty, and he hadn't mentally prepared himself for settling down with a girl so quickly.
Now, Vivian's words seemed like a way for him to take a step back, asking if he wanted to.
While appreciating the girl's consideration, Jerome also felt a twinge of sympathy for such a sensitive young lady.
Her aunt had been extremely kind to him throughout, clearly satisfied with him.
Considering Vivian's attitude of not wanting to provoke her family, it was easy to deduce that her aunt was strict with her.
In this situation, Vivian preferred to face her family's challenges alone rather than let him suffer any injustice.
Jerome was touched by her thoughtfulness.
Jerome admitted, "I confess that I did hesitate about our relationship. When your brother claimed I was your boyfriend that day, I was honestly startled. But I'm moved that you've been understanding of my concerns, willing to consider them for me."
Outside, Joyce and Samson were eavesdropping, one above and one below, near the door frame.
When they heard Jerome's words, Joyce couldn't hold back her tears.
"Samson, it turns out your sister pursued Mr Williams, and it sounds like it might be unrequited love."
Samson covered his mouth, "No way, my sister has been outstanding since childhood, looking down on men. Could she really be secretly in love?"
Joyce sighed, lowering her voice, "Do you remember in junior high when there was a boy in your sister's class, who liked her and followed her home to confess his feeling? Your sister, thinking he was a pervert, confronted him and ended up punching him into the hospital."
Samson silently nodded.
Vivian's low emotional intelligence and a tendency towards violence had led to numerous incidents where confessors were misunderstood and ended up being beaten.
Moreover, unlike other girls, she disliked being liked, mainly considering it troublesome.
"Do you remember when your sister was so close to another boy? And if she didn't agree today, how could I invite Jerome to our home?"
Considering what she had just heard, Joyce held a spatula as she spoke, "No! Your sister has finally found someone she likes, and we need to help bring these two together!"
Outside, the two people were quietly discussing countermeasures, while the two inside were currently awkwardly facing each other. Vivian felt that in all her years of living, she had never doubted the world as much as she did now.
Although Jerome was speaking English, when the words were put together, she couldn't understand a single one. At this moment, she felt like grabbing Samson by the neck, throwing him in, and then forced him to solve couple of math problems to calm her nerves.
Vivian, after taking a deep breath, decided to directly tell the truth.
As she opened the door, she found Joyce and Samson standing there, looking somewhat suspicious.
"Why are you standing here?" Vivian asked.
Joyce quickly responded, "Dinner is ready. Come out and eat."
Without a doubt, Vivian glanced at Jerome, who had just emerged from behind her.
She immediately said, "Aunt, sorry for deceiving you just now. It was all because of Samson's nonsense at school. He made up a story. Mr Williams only didn't deny it to help me. In fact, there's nothing between us at all."
As Vivian finished speaking, Joyce suddenly collapsed on the floor with a "plop".
