Boss Battle

****

As Arthur locked his gaze with the queen bee suspended in the air, he almost barely felt a shiver creeping up his spine at that moment.

As if on cue, the bee shot towards him will full speed and Arthur prepared to counter it with his daggers.

Arthur stood at the same spot while the bee charged at him and impacted with its pincers which were swiftly blocked by his daggers.

But still the bee's weight was for nothing as it pushed Arthur past the spot but he quickly rolled himself sideways making a horizontal slash on its skin while leaving the bee rushing forwards due to inertia.

Arthur quickly picked himself off the ground and look at the bee but unfortunately, no red hue was present.

Right now, even though Arthur could use [Assassin's Apathy] he didn't feel like doing it.

For one, it felt as if his body was not in control when using the skill and someone else had taken control over it and Arthur didn't like that.

For two, it would completely ruin his battle experience he would get so he decided to use it only in dire moments in the fight with the bee.

The bee turned back and shot towards him again but this time Arthur shrouded his feet and also shot forward.

As soon as the bee was in front of him, Arthur used [Spectral Steps] and propelled himself up the bee and sliced its skin from up above.

The bee again charged forward due to inertia but quickly turned back this time, and this time Arthur was caught off guard as the bee stroke him mid-air.

Luckily, he turned at the last moment and avoided the pincers but could not avoid its body which led to his body flying towards the ground.

Arthur's body skidded on the ground but he quickly got himself up just to find the bee at a hand's reach from him again.

He gritted his teeth and quickly used [Obsidian Screen] to stop the bee but alas, the screen only held the bee for a milli-second before it broke.

The bee continued and hit Arthur again, who went flying again before colliding with a tree and gushing out blood from his mouth.

Arthur almost lost his consciousness but he bit his lip and quickly got up to counter the bee this time.

The bee came rushing again but this time Arthur would not dodge. He shrouded all of his legs and held his daggers tightly before rushing with full speed at the bee.

But as soon as the bee was just a meter left from him, he did something out of its expectations.

He waved his daggers, and they vanished with a crackle of electricity like again.

He pulled back his arm and quickly transitioned his shrouding from his legs to one of his arm.

The bee could not stop its charge even if it wanted to and so quickly composing itself, it readied its pincers.

As soon as they were face to face, the bee rushed its pincers forward but immediately Arthur used [Spectral Steps].

But this time not as footing to jump, he used them as small blocks of shield positioning them towards the pincers.

He did not use [Obsidian Screen] because it would use more mana, and due to its large size it would also hinder his punch.

The pincers collided with the small shields, only to pierce through them a second later but that time was enough for Arthur.

With full force, he punched the bee in the face, eliciting a screech from her and a small shockwave spread throughout them.

The bee flew backwards again but not before Arthur quickly cast [Nightfall Blind] upon it.

As soon as Arthur's feet touched the ground, he used the skill he had never used before all throughout his time.

In training, it couldn't be used because it served no purpose.

'[Umbral Veil]'

Instantly, it was like a black veil had befallen upon Arthur has his presence immediately erased itself, like he had never been there in the first place.

Transitioning the shroud from his arms to his legs again, Arthur shot forwards towards the bee again, which was still flying off and was unable to stabilize itself because of the blind.

Arthur quickly arrived in front of the bee a second later and waved his hands causing the daggers to appear again.

Before the blind could wear off, Arthur immediately started hacking at the bee with his daggers.

Although Arthur could try to pierce straight through its head, he had a premonition that wouldn't work.

Not only was its hide thicker, Arthur could feel its head was much stronger and his punch had basically almost confirmed his thoughts.

Arthur kept slashing at bee and although only 2 seconds of the blind were left, he could feel that maybe the his daggers would pierce through right now.

But unfortunately fate and luck do not go hand in hand, and suddenly the bee's pores opened and a greenish hot liquid spluttered out.

Arthur had just the time to cover his face, but all that liquid splattered over his already torn bodysuit and seared like a hot knife all over his body.

Arthur gritted his teeth to not lose consciousness and a muffled scream came out his mouth.

The blind wore off and immediately the bee dashed at Arthur hitting him and sending him back shooting towards the middle of the ground.

Arthur was on the brink of losing himself but quickly got up, only to find the bee only a meter from himself.

Right now the bee had enveloped a red hue, indicating that it now had the [Bleed] effect but Arthur refrained from using it.

He could feel that unlike the other bees, this time the [Bleed] effect of paralyzing it would only do so for a second, which was not enough right now.

It could only be used at the right moment, and at that moment he could immediately grasp the victory from the bee.

The poison effect would take too long to work and that wasn't a choice right now he could afford.

So he had decided that he would only use the [Bleed] effect as a last resort, if he could do nothing right now.

He could feel that if this time the bee hit him again, he might just lose his consciousness and so his mind worked at full throttle to prevent it from hitting him again.

And just when it was about to give up that there was no way and he would have to use [Bleed], the sun plunged deeper into the earth towards setting, and the mighty trees shadows elongated just to barely touch Arthur's feet.

Immediately, using Arthur used the only skill that could save his life right now,

'[Shadow Blend]'

Immediately, Arthur's form blended into the shadows of the trees, and the bee was forced to stop its charge to avoid something happening to it.

Not only Arthur right, but the bee was also on death's edge. It knew that if it suffered a few more slashes from Arthur it would die.

Fortunately for the bee, it was still in the light so Arthur couldn't do to it what he had done to the yeti.

So, he appeared in front of the trees again right in front of the sights of bee, a considerable distance from it.

The bee locked its crimson gazes with Arthur's bloodied but cold and fierce blue gaze, and felt fear creeping up in its body before it quickly disbanded it and locked its gaze once again.

It was as if a simultaneous agreement had been signed between them, both having the same thoughts and agreeing to it.

This would be the last strike, and the survivor would be decided in this clash.

Arthur gripped his daggers and bent his body ready for the strike and the bee also fluttered its wings ready to dash at him.

Although the bee was in a disadvantageous position, Arthur was also at his mana's end and could only use one large consumption or two small consumption skills.

He still wasn't ready to use [Assassin's Apathy], he could feel that he could win without using the skill but if push comes to shove then he would use it without a moment's hesitation.

Their gazes locked once more, and this time it was for the sign of the starting and the bee immediately charged at full force towards him.

Arthur did not move and stood rooted to his spot awaiting the bees with his posture ready for attack.

[5 Meters]

Arthur bent more low and the bee did not stop its charge, its crimson gaze filled with rage fixed on Arthur.

[2 Meters]

All the sound of the wind had died out only to leave out the rhythmic and steady breathing of Arthur and the buzzing sound of the fluttering of wings of the bee.

[1 Meter]

The bee thrust its pincers forwards but Arthur was prepared and quickly with a slight tilt to the left he avoided them before thrusting his hand out to touch the bee.

'[Nightfall Blind]'

And immediately in cue, Arthur thrust his daggers forwards as the blindfold descended upon the bee.

Feeling its life in danger again, the bee went in panic and immediately opened its pores to secrete its acid again.

Seeing its reaction, a grin crept up on Arthur's face.

The bee could not see it because if it did then it would have instantly realized something was wrong, something that would turn the tides of battle in an instant.

It could not see the faint red hue emitting from its body.

A hue only Arthur could see and its trump card right now.

Hello! Author here.

Hope you enjoyed this labyrinth part and the fight scenes I have written.

But as I said before I'm a new author, and I will make mistakes so please help me by pointing them out and suggesting me your thoughts.

That said, now that Arthur will win maybe, what will happen outside the labyrinth?

Not only that, he is also gravely injured as well.

Let's see.

Thanks for reading btw! :) :>
