Sharing a Room Tonight

Diana, sensing the importance of not impeding Nathan's business, quickly held her tongue. "Alright, go on with your work. Don't mind me; I've been here before."

Instead of heading to his study to deal with paperwork as he had claimed, Nathan stopped at Ava's door. He hesitated, remembering Ava's warning about giving her space. Admitting to himself that he was intentionally making things difficult might seem foolish, but he knocked anyway. When no response came, he was about to knock again when Ava called out.

"The door's unlocked, come in."

Relieved to be invited in, Nathan took it as a positive sign. He found Ava deeply engrossed in her design drafts. As he entered, she glanced over.

"Something you need?"

Nathan settled himself down, his tone unusually subdued. "About what happened with my mother earlier... I'm sorry. There won't be a next time."
