Emma’s POV
Hector turned around and gave me a cold look up and down. "You're really informal showing up for a date in pajamas," he said.
"You're already my ex-mate, so why should I bother to dress well?" I replied, sitting down carelessly.
"Besides," I added with self-mockery, "I was so well-behaved before, but I still couldn't win your heart. Why should I make futile efforts now?"
Hector looked at me with burning eyes and asked, "So, you really loved me before?"
I was drinking lemonade and choked at his words. I couldn't believe he, who always hid his feelings, would say something so straightforward.
"Get over yourself. Who said I loved you?" I dodged his sharp gaze and denied it guiltily.
"The whole world is saying you once loved me so much," Hector said, unconsciously raising an arc in his lips.
