Cassie's face was pale. Her eyes were tightly closed as if she was going through something painful.
She had a nightmare again.
Cassie dreamed she was trapped in the car, surrounded by scorching fire. She was choked and felt suffocated in the small space. The flames burned her face, and the pain made her cry.
She woke up from the nightmare, and it was dawn.
When Cassie opened her eyes, she saw Archer sitting on a chair, smoking a cigarette, with his back turned to her. There were several cigarette butts on the ground. It seemed he had been there for a while.
She was startled momentarily, then closed her eyes again, ignoring him.
Through the glass window, Archer noticed that she was awake. He stepped on the cigarette butt, turned around, and stared at the weak woman on the hospital bed with deep eyes.
"Open your eyes," His tone was decisive. Archer never asked for her opinion or allowed her to have an opinion.
