Chapter 12: Shadows of the Past

A Moment Alone

Yuuto sat on the couch, his thoughts drifting back to the events that had led to his injuries. Images flashed through his mind the confrontation, the chaos, the pain he gripped the couch cushion, feeling a sense of helplessness wash over him.

Yuuto (whispers to himself): I need to find a way to end this... for Camilla's sake.

Just as he was about to get lost in his thoughts, the doorbell rang, breaking the silence. Yuuto stood up, curiosity piqued he opened the door to find a tall figure cloaked in shadows, their face obscured by a hood the visitor's presence sent a chill down Yuuto's spine with his heart racing, he cautiously stepped back, readying himself for anything.

???: Yuuto? We need to talk.

The stranger stepped into the light, revealing a familiar face Kaito, an old ally from Yuuto's past. They had fought side by side in battles long forgotten, but the darkness of those days still haunted them.

Yuuto (surprised): Kaito? What are you doing here? 

Kaito: I heard about what happened. I came to warn you... and to help.

Yuuto's instincts told him to be cautious, but the desperation in Kaito's eyes made him pause they moved to the kitchen, where Yuuto offered Kaito a seat. Kaito leaned forward with urgency, his voice low tension hung in the air like a thick fog.

Kaito: There's a storm brewing, Yuuto. The people who attacked you are not done. They're searching for you, and they won't stop until they find you... or worse.

Yuuto (grimacing): I won't let them hurt Camilla. I need to protect her.

Kaito: That's why I'm here. I have a plan, but it's risky. We'll need to gather allies and strengthen our defenses.

Yuuto listened intently, weighing the options in his mind protecting Camilla was his priority, but he also knew they couldn't face this threat alone Kaito's plan could put them in danger but also give them a fighting chance.

Yuuto: What do we need to do?

Kaito's plan was simple, well to how he thought of it but it was a lot. 1. Gathering Allies: Reach out to old friends who had the skills to help. Form a network of support against the impending threat. 2. Strengthening Defenses: Reinforcing their home with security measures. Creating a safe space for Camilla, away from the chaos. 3. Training Together: Preparing for confrontation through combat training. Ensuring both Yuuto and Camilla were ready for anything.

Kaito: We don't have much time. If we act quickly, we can take the fight to them.

Yuuto felt a surge of determination he stood up, resolve etched on his face Kaito's presence reignited the fire within him.

Yuuto: Let's do it. For my Camilla and for our future.
