24. Swarm of Monster

Seeing the two of them hugging and crying made Rei choose to leave them both.

Perhaps after they finish crying, they would want to talk and find out what happened in their lives after they separated.

Rei walked deeper into the forest, wanting to check if his powers had recovered or not.

As he walked, he could feel the fresh and cool air of the forest that calmed his heart.

Rei continued walking until he finally reached the bank of a river that looked wide enough for him to check his powers.

Seeing this open area with many trees behind him, Rei nodded and began to close his eyes, focusing on seeing the energy within his body.

Rei could feel that there was a lot of energy inside his body, but strangely, he could see white energy among the many dark energies.

Curious, Rei tried to draw the white energy, but when he tried to do so, the other dark energies attempted to block his white energy.

As the white energy began to fill Rei's body, the dark energy tried to stop it and push it back.

Rei tried for some time, even ordering the dark energy to stop pushing it back, but nothing worked.

Finally, he gave up and refocused on his initial goal, while trying to contain his dark energy so that not too much would leak out, especially since in this place, there was one of the Eternals who could definitely sense his energy.

But he really didn't expect that his power was already stronger than when he fought the previous colossus.

Although he wanted to hold back his energy so that it wouldn't leak too much, but when he released it a little, his energy suddenly burst out fully.

The water in the river began to ripple away from him because of the wind that appeared after Rei used his energy.

Four black wings emerged from his back and black feathers also appeared floating around Rei.

"This..." Rei looked at the feathers floating around him and then tried to grab one of them.

Rei held the end of the feather while trying to touch the black feather and felt how soft it was.

He then looked behind him and saw his four black wings, he could feel the power of his wings had increased many times over from before.

Rei began to wonder if he could fly properly now? So, he started to want to try it.

But before he could do that, suddenly Rei felt danger and dodged to the side.

As Rei dodged, he could see an arrow passing by quickly and continuing to fly past the river in front of him.

"I knew you could dodge that arrow." Tweyen's voice was heard from behind Rei.

Upon hearing that, Rei immediately turned around and looked towards the source of the sound.

Rei could see Tweyen walking towards him, holding her bow. However, unlike when she was at her grandmother's house, this time Tweyen was not aiming at him.

"Even though I have erased my presence and tried to attack you from your blind spot, you still managed to avoid it."

Tweyen continued to walk closer to Rei with a smile on her face.

Seeing Tweyen's smile, Rei thought that reconciling with her childhood friend really lifted her mood.

Tweyen finally stopped in front of Rei, gazing at the four black wings on Rei's back.

"Four wings... it seems you're not human after all. Can you tell me what race you are? I have never heard of a race that looks like you."

Rei, upon hearing this, sighed and began to tell Tweyen the story he had told many others before.

"Another world? And before you suddenly appeared here, you were adventuring with a crew whose goal was Estaulica?"

Rei explained to Tweyen how he suddenly appeared in this world, ended up in a body that wasn't his own, and then inexplicably ended up here.

"Another world.... Are you a singularity?"

Hearing the name singularity made Rei shocked, as singularity is a title for someone who can destroy fate, and depending on the person, they can either save the world or destroy it because Omnipotent cannot interfere with their fate.

But the singularity in this world is Djeeta, as Djeeta managed to make the Girl in Blue and the Red Dragon became friends even though they had opposing fates.

Vyrn and Lyria. Vessels designed by their respective deities to draw power from each other, so that their creators can consume them and gain an advantage over their divine sibling.

"Unfortunately, I am not a singularity..." Rei replied to Tweyen, while turned around and looking towards the river behind him.

Hearing Rei's answer, Tweyen sighed and put away her bow.

Then, she walked to the side of Rei, both of them admiring the view of the river in front of them together.

"I have spoken to almost all the people's in the village..." Tweyen suddenly speak while staring at the river.

"I asked about you, whether you are dangerous or not, but they all always give the same answer."

Rei could hear the annoyed tone in Tweyen's voice as she said that, then he turned to look at Tweyen.

" "Oh Rei? He's a good person, bla bla bla." They all say the same thing and it just confuses me more."

Tweyen grumbled, she then walked forward to the water and started to kicking it.

"It would be easier if they said you were evil and I, as an eternal, could just deal with you directly..."

Tweyen stopped kicking the water and quietly turned back to look at Rei's face.

"...and all the girls always say that you are very handsome" Tweyen spoke with a very low voice, that even Rei couldn't hear her.

Tweyen couldn't lie, but Rei's appearance was really handsome with his white hair, blue eyes, and now with four black wings behind him adding to his charm.

But after thinking about it, Tweyen shook her head and turned back to the river, trying to not paying attention to Rei's appearance anymore.

"Hmm? What did you say?" Rei tilted his head in confusion as he didn't hear Tweyen's words.

"No, no, I didn't say anything..." Tweyen answered Rei, but still didn't turn to face him.

"Rossie also told me about you... and when she did, she seemed very excited and couldn't stop talking about how she always managed to stroke your hair," Tweyen continued her conversation.

"...and how you convince her to make up with me and tell her to hit me when we meet."

Hearing that make Rei swallowed nervously, a bit scared that Tweyen might blame him for telling her childhood friend to hit her when they meet.

Tweyen then turned back to Rei, smiling, and placed her hands behind her back.

The wind blew, causing Rei's hair and wings to sway, just like Tweyen's eternal robe and her long brown hair.

"I am very grateful to you, Rei, not only for the Rossie issue but for everything you do for the other villagers."

"Even though I rarely come home, from a young age I have considered them all as my own family, and you treat them well even though you have so much power."

"Not gonna lie but we as Eternal have met many people with great power or high positions who behave like monsters."

Hearing that, Rei could only admire the view in front of him, Tweyen staring at him with a gentle gaze and her long brown hair swaying in the wind.

Rei's heart started beating faster as he saw this, and he didn't realize it but now his face was red because he was embarrassed to hear Tweyen words.

Seeing Rei like that made Tweyen chuckle and look like she wanted to tease him. "Hehehe~, are you embarrassed? Look at your red face, you are so cute when you're like that."

Hearing that made Rei even more embarrassed, and in the end, he turned around to go back to the village, leaving Tweyen who was teasing him.

"Hahahaha~" Rei could hear Tweyen's laughter but chose to ignore her.

"Damn Tweyen..." Rei grumbled, then he make the wings from his back disappear and started walking back to the village.

But as he walked, he heard someone running behind him, it seemed Tweyen had decided to chase him.

Tweyen then went to Rei's side, and they both started walking together.

Tweyen thought this is actually fun to have a friend to joke around with like this.

Since becoming a member of the Eternal, people have started treating Tweyen with special treatment and respect.

Besides her eternal friends, Tweyen didn't have anyone else to talk to like this.

Tweyen looked at Rei's still blushing face and with her sharp hearing, she could also hear Rei's heart beating fast since earlier.

Meanwhile, Rei realized that Tweyen was staring at him started to avoid her gaze because he didn't know how to handle her and because tweyen is really his type....

<~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>

After walking for a while, they finally arrived at a village but when they entered the village, they could feel the tense atmosphere.

They saw many villagers running around carrying something and looking panicked. Rei and Tweyen then looked at each other and nodded, they tried to stop one of the villagers who was stopping to ask what was happening.

Rei stopped a girl who was running by holding her arm because she seemed too panicked to notice Rei calling her.

"Hey, can you explain what's happening? Why is everyone panicking?"

The girl then told Rei and Tweyen that the hunters on patrol had spotted a group of monsters appearing. If left unchecked, those monsters could attack the village, so they were preparing many arrows and bows for the hunters who would handle the group of monsters.

After telling them that, the girl then ran back to her destination.

"A group of monsters..." Tweyen muttered.

"I will go to where all the hunters usually gather, what about you Tweyen?" Rei asked Tweyen because Rei wanted to help them fight the group of monsters.

"I will also help, but I will go to my grandma's first to check if she is at home or not."

Tweyen replied to Rei, she wanted to check on her grandma because in the evening her grandma would usually go to the forest to gather ingredients for cooking.

Rei nodded and they both parted ways here, Rei went to the hunter's gathering place and Tweyen went to check if her grandma was at home or not.

Rei arrived at the place where all the hunters usually gathered and he could see many people discussing something.

"Rei? What are you doing here?" one of the hunters who knew Rei said to him.

"I want to help you all," Rei replied to the person.

"No, Rei, this is dangerous. Compared to the usual, there are not just a few monsters this time, but a lot. We don't even know the exact number."

Rei, hearing that, shook his head. "Don't worry, I can definitely help dealing with the monster. Let me help everyone here."

Because Rei kept insisting, he finally let Rei help them. After all, they also needed more people to handle this.

Afterwards, they discussed strategies and many things that made Rei look amazed because this was the first time he joined a meeting like this. Usually he, Djeeta, and the others just went yolo against monsters and primal beasts.

After some time, they decided to try to stop the monsters before they reached the village. All the hunters would try to shoot the monsters from a distance to reduce their numbers as much as possible.

Then Rei would wait in the village and make sure to kill any monsters that managed to pass the other hunters' arrows.

Rei finally left the meeting place and went to Tweyen to inform her of what he knew.

As he walked towards Tweyen's grandmother's house, Rei suddenly saw Tweyen coming out of her grandmother's house, looking panicked.

Tweyen looked around a few times and finally saw Rei, quickly approaching him.

"Rei! I can't find my grandmother anywhere! It seems she's still in the forest and hasn't returned!" Tweyen panickedly told Rei.

"What!?" Hearing that made Rei shocked, and he immediately turned towards the forest, where Tweyen's grandmother usually gathered herbs.

"I will look for your grandmother, Tweyen" Rei prepared to run out of the village and use his wings to fly and search.

But Tweyen grabbed Rei's right hand and stopped him. "Wait! Let me go with you. With my vision, we can search faster."

Hearing that, Rei nodded and they both ran out of the village.
