Continuous Slaughter

The death of these Class 1 Demonic Beasts must have been too swift and decisive. At that moment, Miao Ying's soul sense detected far stronger auras condensing behind him.

He spun around, his eyes narrowing at the various Demonic Beasts, each more fearsome than the last, gathering for battle. These creatures surpassed Class 1 - each was a Spirit Tier beast!

Waves of sickening demonic Qi rolled out from them, their pressure enough to worry even 2nd stage Qi Sea Establishment experts. It was an amplification of demonic energy, superimposing upon itself.

But Miao Ying merely smiled, feeling his nerves tingle with anticipation. With extreme speed, he blasted off again, his form practically vanishing in the eyes of some Spirit Tier beasts.

A Spirit Lion beast, fiery runes dancing across its yellow fur, slightly widened its eyes. Its spiritual awareness caught a whiff of the threat of death.

The beast desperately howled as demonic Qi burst out of it, a wave of flames engulfing its claw as it swiped upward.

But there was only the sound of flesh tearing open. Miao Ying's lightning-wreathed sword completely shredded through the Spirit Lion's flame and brutally sliced its paw straight off.

Without stopping, Miao Ying slashed his sword, thrusting deep into the beast's head, bursting apart its brain.

A wave of danger then washed over Miao Ying's back. In response, his joints crackled with thunder as he slashed his sword in a dazzling circular motion.

His wide slash tore through everything in its path. Blood sprayed unendingly while beast parts flew into the wind.

With an ear-piercing sound of metal cracking apart, Miao Ying's sword tore through a large demonic gorilla's fist. Miao Ying didn't stop. He slashed his sword through the beast's neck and its head flew off in a geyser of blood.

Miao Ying barely had a split-second to rest before he had to raise his lightning-fast sword again.

A screeching sound reverberated as a powerful force traveled through Miao Ying's body, forcing even his sturdy form to take light steps back.

It was a Demonic Hawk whose large beak clashed against his sword. Miao Ying's eyes narrowed.

A Spirit beast equal to the 3rd stage of Qi Sea Establishment!

Things were finally getting serious and Miao Ying knew he could not afford to conserve his energy reserves.

"Hahh!" he roared out, thunder booming from his joints as he fully unleashed the thunderous might of his ambient lightning energy.

The sheer expulsion of sudden power smashed into the Demonic Hawk, sending it bouncing off the ground.

Before the hawk could regain its bearings, Miao Ying slashed forth with speed even greater than before. His dazzling sword cleaved the beast in half mid-air.

Another foe felled, but Miao Ying was forced to slash his sword forward again.

This strike cleaved through a mist of ice and smashed apart another Demonic Beast's head into gory bits. Sensing an influx of danger from behind and to his side, Miao Ying knew he would get pincered by the creatures if he remained still.

Thus Miao Ying exploded forward. At the same time, a large rhinoceros-type Demonic Beast bulldozed toward him. A sheen of yellow light streamed across its body - Earth Qi that majorly amplified its defenses.

Sparks flew as Miao Ying was briefly stalled by the beast's Earth Qi, but it was only for a moment. The sound of shattering glass reverberated as Miao Ying's sword crushed the Earth Qi into thousands of pieces.

The blade continued on, tearing straight through the rhino beast's skull and blasting apart its brain.

Miao Ying pulled his sword out and continued bursting forward in one fluid motion.

Two Demonic Chimps hurled themselves into his path, their claws glimmering with faint fiery light as they slashed downward, intending to pierce Miao Ying apart.

But Miao Ying smoothly slashed his sword in a beautiful vertical motion, the veins on his arm pulsating from the continuous use of extreme power. The sword effortlessly sliced the chimps in half, spraying out their organs.

Miao Ying continued forward but sensed a trail of beasts rapidly approaching from the front. He curled his brows for a moment, knowing this way would drain him far too quickly.

The lightning ambient energy allowed for great strength but rapidly drained his reserves and bodily stamina at an extreme pace.

But of course, Miao Ying had a supreme advantage over other cultivators. Black essence flashed upon his palm and a chilling cold air swept through the barren wasteland. Many Spirit Tier beasts faintly trembled as a premonition of doom crawled through their limited spiritual awareness.

Miao Ying faintly smirked. His Devourer Dao Rune glistened, spewing a wave of unstoppable suction force meters in front of him.

Three strange-looking Spirit Demonic Beasts, each appearing to be an amalgamation of tiger and lion, entered this field of suction. The creatures briefly paused as a tremendous sluggish sensation washed over them.

Demonic Qi energy was forcefully stripped from their bodies, causing a massive disturbance in their energy flow.

The extracted demonic Qi instantly flowed into Miao Ying's Devourer Dao Rune, becoming purified potent ambient energy that streamed through his body.

Miao Ying's eyes brightened as he felt energized, filled with power to slash through the world. His sword faintly dazzled, tiny arcs of lightning dancing around the blade as he made an unstoppable slash.

The amplified blade cleanly cut the three demonic beasts straight through the middle. Without stopping, Miao Ying performed a backward slash, his dazzling sword cleaving through the beasts trying to rush his blind side.

The moment Miao Ying killed those creatures, he curled his brows again. A greater feeling of danger was detected by his soul. The Devourer Dao Rune surged, its irresistible suction force flowing outward.

In that moment, the flash of a sword tearing toward Miao Ying's face slowed down tremendously.

The human-like phantom grasping the sword had its eyes wide open. Its Qi essence was flowing straight out of it, disrupting its energy flow and causing its body to feel tremendously sluggish.

This phantom was far stronger than anything else Miao Ying had faced so far. Its Qi essence was powerful, equal to the 4th stage of Qi Sea Establishment, surpassing the Early Stage of the realm.

But with that Qi essence flowing out of it, the phantom couldn't possibly summon the amazing strength to overwhelm Miao Ying.

Miao Ying's body trembled from the surge of energy overflowing everywhere. He had to cut off his Dao Devourer Rune, as it was possible for him to overload his body with too much energy.

But just this amount was enough. His joints loudly crackled with thunder, the air splitting as his sword slashed out with an ear-piercing boom.

Blood gushed high as Miao Ying's sword slashed through the phantom's innate body defenses, tearing through flesh and bone to completely slice through its neck!

Miao Ying remained intently focused despite a noticeable itch, a nagging sensation now slumbering within his head. He could tell this was caused by the Devourer Dao Rune beginning to slightly strain his soul.

Even though the Devourer Dao Rune didn't use normal energies to activate, it still relied on the power of Miao Ying's soul to function. And his soul could only take so much force before needing rest, similar to exercising the muscles of the body.

But even in this state, Miao Ying remained calm. If a 4th stage expert could fall in one move, he was sure he could kill even a 5th stage Qi Sea Establishment expert like this.

He wasn't certain about the 6th stage, but if he could keep this up, he was confident in making it into the early ranks of the Earth Abode.

A glint swirled within Miao Ying's eyes as he tightly gripped his sword, ready for an endless trial of slaughter.

...

As time passed in the outside world, the other disciples taking the Riverfall Killing Array had finished.

Several flashes of white radiance glistened as the other disciples were forcefully ejected from the array.

These disciples didn't exude the same aura of confidence as Geng Jin. Some of them went slightly pale, the phantom feeling of death still lingering in their minds.

The surrounding crowd of disciples took only a brief glance at the crystal stones projecting their results. None of these disciples had noteworthy performances.

Those from the Spirit Abode didn't make much progress upward, while the two from the Earth Abode made no progress at all.

The crowd began to murmur.

"The difference between those without Young Master Chetian's guidance..."

"Mn. They can only blame their poor luck for not entering his eyes."

As those disciples returned, it wasn't long before the disciples' attention turned to the last two people still under the Riverfall Killing Array.
