Chapter 14: Cruel

The lively atmosphere in the hall had almost ceased to exist; the security guards of the Royal Palace arrived swiftly. Jiang Jiucheng took the opportunity to point at her, "It's her, causing trouble and hurting people."

Liang Shu was apprehended.

Without surprise, she would end up in custody.

But Gu Hansheng appeared at just the right time. He had his connections here, and as he stepped out of the elevator, he happened upon this scene.

Seeing Liang Shu being escorted away, his brow barely furrowed, a hint of an enigmatic smile playing on his lips. Beside him, Ji Chen had already approached.

The private rooms of the Royal Palace were highly exclusive. There were many men and women, flirting or drinking.

Yet Gu Hansheng stood alone, occupying the central position, and no one dared to approach him.

Liang Shu hadn't managed to leave before the door closed. She hadn't anticipated the opulent decadence inside. For a moment, she felt somewhat awkward standing at the doorway.

The people inside the private room naturally noticed her, only because she had been brought in by Ji Chen. For now, no one dared to make a scene.

Gu Hansheng glanced indifferently at her and then averted his gaze, accepting a drink offered by someone nearby.

It was as if she were invisible.

And indeed, Liang Shu treated herself as such, standing at the door, silent and unmoving.

Gradually, the room resumed its lively atmosphere.

There was a huge TV screen in the room, with women and men duetting. Liang Shu pursed her lips.

The singing was truly unpleasant.

She began to assess her surroundings, all filled with the affluent. She wondered, if she were to seek support, would any of these people suffice?

Liang Shu carefully scrutinized them, but in the end, she felt that only Gu Hansheng was truly exceptional.

After who knew how long, all the voices in the private room ceased.

"Clap—"

Everyone turned to look at Liang Shu, who had just finished clapping her hands together.

The atmosphere suddenly became awkward. She pressed her lips together, only hearing someone in the crowd ask her, "What are you doing?"

Liang Shu looked at him, her voice clear and cold, devoid of any embarrassment. "I'm killing mosquitoes."

"Ha-ha, listen to this, it's hilarious." A woman's voice, dripping with sarcasm, spread out.

After she finished speaking, seeing that Gu Hansheng had not reacted in any way, she became bolder, who knew what kind of person this assistant had brought in.

"I say, miss, have you ever seen the world?" She emphasized the word "miss."

Liang Shu looked at her and suddenly understood why this woman was so arrogant compared to the others. She promptly sat down next to Gu Hansheng.

Liang Shu finally understood. She was being a nuisance by standing here.

Wasn't it Gu Hansheng who brought her here?

She glanced at the man, his side profile sharp and resolute, clad in a restrained black shirt, his gaze somewhat lazy yet profound, seemingly unaffected by the commotion here.

Liang Shu lowered her gaze. If she were to confront these people, what would be the consequences?

Her messed-up life was already in shambles. Would a bit more chaos really make any difference?

No.

In the instant she raised her head, a brazen smile spread across her lips. She was quick-witted in verbal confrontations, rarely losing.

But before she could speak, the door of the private room was opened again, and the club manager, accompanied by others, came to apologize. He expressed his regrets for the malfunction of the room's equipment and such customary apologies.

No one paid attention to his clamor, and the manager was ushered away.

Liang Shu's fervor was extinguished.

She was truly pathetic. She had legs, so she walked away.

And indeed, that's exactly what she did.
