Liang Shu lowered her head, gazing at her damp wrist, where the moist mist once again blurred her vision. In essence, it meant that Lu Jinsheng hadn't extinguished his humanity enough to actually kill her, and if she were to truly die, he would likely find satisfaction in it.
"Lu Jinsheng, I also look forward to that day." She raised her head, her gaze piercing.
The man met her eyes directly. His left cheek was slightly flushed from her slap, and from a distance, one could even see faint fingerprints.
Liang Shu had expected him to confront her or something similar after that slap. His emotions had only simmered at the edge, but had not erupted until now.
When his voice rang out again from above, Liang Shu's heart trembled. But she heard him say, "Take some time to go back and see the old man when I'm not around."
She was about to respond when her phone buzzed in her bag again. After a quick mental calculation, she took out her phone in front of Lu Jinsheng and answered.
Without waiting for the other end to speak, she spoke up, "Hey, Mr. Yu, I'm in the restroom right now. I'll be out soon. If you're available, could you come find me?"
The call was snatched away, as Liang Shu had anticipated, but she hadn't expected Lu Jinsheng to be angry.
Caught between snatching back the phone to prevent Lu Jinsheng from smashing it and opening the door, Liang Shu hesitated for half a second before choosing the latter.
It was quiet outside, eerily so, and there was no one around.
She hesitated almost not at all, and simply started walking in a random direction.
After smashing her phone, Lu Jinsheng didn't even bother to chase her, nor did he pay attention to which direction she went after leaving the restroom. This woman was willing to risk gossip just to leave. What was the point of chasing her?
Aside from wanting to personally strangle her, Lu Jinsheng had no other thoughts.
Liang Shu walked quickly, nearly stumbling several times. She now deeply regretted her choice of attire for the evening; it was neither practical nor flattering. She wished she had never agreed to the stylist's suggestion of wearing this dress.
After about three minutes of walking, Liang Shu leaned against a pillar to catch her breath. Glancing back, she saw that the Western-style corridor was deserted, except for the white drapes fluttering in the breeze, creating an eerie silence.
There had been many people in the venue before, but when she tried to leave, she wandered around twice without seeing many people. She guessed that all the banquet halls in this hotel must have been rented out.
But none of this mattered to her. Lu Jinsheng not catching up with her was a good thing. Of course, Liang Shu felt that, given Lu Jinsheng's status, he wouldn't deign to do such a thing.
Looking down at her wristwatch, obscured by moisture and the hands frozen in time, Liang Shu sighed.
Encountering Lu Jinsheng tonight was unexpected, but Liang Shu hadn't expected to run into Gu Han Sheng either.
She was still wondering why such a large hotel was so empty, devoid of young men and women whispering sweet nothings to each other, wealthy bosses and elegant ladies indulging in flirtation, and women gossiping with their wine glasses. It turned out that many people had gone to see Gu Han Sheng.
Liang Shu used to think that such a scene of being the center of attention and the envy of all would only appear in the movies, until she met Gu Han Sheng.
She had no concept of who Gu Han Sheng was. Although she had been to such events with men many times, and banquets were also classified, people like Gu Han Sheng were rare. So she didn't understand what kind of presence Gu Han Sheng had in the upper circles of Yucheng.
