The trip was coming to an end as we neared the Slarius Kingdom. There was a long line to enter the kingdom by the gate and the guards had to ensure safety by inspecting everyone thoroughly. There was a separate line for carriages to enter to avoid any casualties.
The line was quite long and took some time to shorten since a thorough inspection of the carriages was necessary. Having a troop of soldiers around a carriage was a sight to behold, but it was nothing out of the ordinary since nobles often visit the kingdom. I was willing to wait for the line to shorten, but Morgan seemed to have other plans.
He dismounted his horse and shouted for a guard to hurry the inspection, but the guard did not have it and shouted back defiantly. I'm sure nobles typically act entitled and attempt to hurry the line with their status which led to the guards' loss of respect for any nobles attempting to enter. Morgan stormed to the guard and threatened him, causing a spectacle in the line.
I heard a guard on the watch tower contacting someone of higher authority. The thought of intervening had crossed my mind, but I would rather not bring any more attention to us. The argument didn't show signs of stopping, but luckily, someone of higher authority came before someone lost their head.
An imp in what seemed to be formal attire walked with a Stoic expression on his small face. Imps are cunning creatures known for their trickery and playful nature, but this imp had no signs of such. He wore a battle-forged expression and was tall for an imp. His appearance caused the commotion to cease, and the people became quiet as he said something directed to me.
"If you cannot teach your guards proper etiquette, what is the use of your noble title? I suggest you wait in line obediently, or I will be forced to reject your entry."
He bore no animosity and spoke in a professional tone, lacking any mockery or contempt. This imp seemed to have gone through his fair share of haughty nobles and knew how to deal with them without escalating the situation.
I was about to reply, but a familiar aura appeared and bore down on us. The earie silence seemed to have become quieter as footsteps rang out on their way towards me. Everyone stood still, shocked at the appearance of a powerhouse. The owner of this aura had short hair, expensive attire with a big robe draped around him and sharp facial features which classified him as handsome.
He stopped by the door of my carriage as though waiting for something, and that is only when the imp fell on his knees and shouted at the top of his lungs:
"ALL HAIL THE KING!"
As soon as he said that, people followed suit and started saluting the person who was revealed to be the king. Jacob ignored all of them as he stared the carriage door, seemingly bracing himself for something before opening the door and falling to one knee.
I sat there with an amused expression as the king of the biggest kingdom fell to one knee in front of his people.
"Welcome to my humble kingdom My Lady."
As soon as he finished his sentence, the people looked towards him with shock written on their faces. The ruler of the biggest and most powerful kingdom is kneeling in respect to a woman. Their shock drew a chuckle from me as I exited the carriage.
"Jacob, you are embarrassing yourself in front of everyone. A king never kneels."
As I spoke, people fell into a trance and started murmuring with lust clouding their eyes, far outshining their surprise and shock. My smile faded as I witnessed the lustful bastards ogling me, so I entered the carriage and gestured for Morgan to follow me through the gates as we made our way to the castle where we are going to have the meeting.
