Chapter 435

While Dragon and his Revolutionary Army members arrived in Albion and began their operation, the First Pokémon Coordination Contest on Pokémon Island was also reaching its climax.

The finalists who made it to the championship match surprised most of the audience but not the contestants themselves.

An internal battle within the Revolutionary Army.

'Queen of Okama' Emporio Ivankov vs. 'Crow' Karas.

Of course, most people were unaware of their status as Revolutionary Army officers.

Their publicly known identities were the Fairy-type Gym Leader and an ordinary Coordinator.

The highly popular 'Four Fairies' were already eliminated in the second round of the battle competition.

Even though their scores from the first-round performance competition were quite high, which gave them more margin for error in the battle round, their hard strength simply wasn't enough to overcome their opponents. Winning was impossible.

The two competitors who lost to Ivankov and Karas were Kurenai and Cavendish.

Although Cavendish participated in both battles and coordination, his efforts ultimately bore no fruit.

However, Cavendish himself had gained a massive amount of popularity and fame, so he left the stage quite content.

As for who would become the first Coordination Master of the seafaring world, Dak didn't particularly care.

Although he was somewhat interested in both battle tournaments and coordination tournaments, at the end of the day, he was primarily a battle enthusiast.

Dak preferred the excitement of heated battles, not sitting in the audience leisurely appreciating a dazzling performance.

Everyone had their own preferences.

For instance, he, Madara, Bellamy, and Gin all preferred battle competitions.

Meanwhile, Tezolo, Olvia, Iceburg, and Izuna preferred to sit in the audience, sipping wine or tea and calmly watching the performances.

There were also those like Robin and Kayaba Akihiko who enjoyed both aspects, and those like Vegapunk and Kuma who weren't interested at all.

However, since it was the first Coordination Contest, if Dak, as the Alliance Leader, didn't attend, it could easily cause a media uproar.

Such as: "The Coordination Contest is of lower value than the Battle Tournament because the Alliance Leader didn't even watch the Coordination Contest Finals."

To avoid such issues, Dak obediently sat in the audience on this particular day to watch the competition.

While his eyes were indeed fixed on the stage, in reality, Dak's mind was entirely focused on the two books he was preparing to write: [Basic Ice Magic Education] and [Advanced Ice Magic].

He was truly taking his role as a teacher to heart.

He was highly enthusiastic about this task and had already formed a basic outline for the content of the two books.

[Basic Ice Magic Education].

This book would teach students how to combine Wind-type energy with Water-type energy to form Ice-type energy. It would also clearly explain the requirements for one's magical talent before attempting the fusion.

The purpose of this book was to help students successfully produce Ice-type magic energy.

At the end of the book, Dak planned to include several simple introductory Ice-type spells for students to practice.

For example:

Ice Arrow Spell.

Ice Shard Spell.

Basic Ice Shaping Magic - Sword/Blade/Spear/Shield.

The second book, [Advanced Ice Magic].

Dak definitely didn't have the time to personally teach this. Perhaps the Snow Clan from the Ninja World could do it, or the students would have to learn on their own.

This book mainly aimed to help students gain a deeper understanding of the nature of Ice Magic.

Only by comprehending these properties could they use higher-level spells.

This book wouldn't contain much theoretical knowledge. Instead, it would mainly feature a wide range of Ice-type spells ranging from Intermediate to Super-Advanced levels.

Dak already had a basic plan for the spells he would include.

For example:

From Fairy Tail's Ice-Make Magic.

From Akame ga Kill's Demonic Ice series of magic.

From Full-Time Magister's Phalanx Ice series of magic.

From the Ninja World's Ice Release and the techniques used by Kuzan from the Seafaring World.

Basically, Dak would copy techniques from other worlds and figure out how to translate those techniques into magical spells of this world.

This wasn't a simple task and would take some time to complete.

Dak's goal was to complete these books before the magical world fully entered the Pokémon Era.

By the time Dak had sorted out the outlines of the two books in his mind, the gorgeous battle on stage was nearing its conclusion.

And then, a highly dramatic scene occurred.

Karas's Honchkrow stirred up a massive whirlwind formed by Heat Wave.

Heat Wave was the only Fire-type move that Honchkrow, a Dark and Flying-type Pokémon, could learn that had offensive power.

On the other hand, Ivankov's Pokémon was a Steel and Fairy-type Mawile.

Anyone who has used a Steel and Fairy-type Pokémon knows that it's a terrifying combination.

The only things that could cause it significant harm were Ground and Fire-type moves. That's why Honchkrow had to resort to using the Fire-type move it was not proficient with.

The Heat Wave dealt considerable damage to Mawile.

Moreover, because the reddish vortex formed by Heat Wave was visually impressive, Ivankov's Mawile not only suffered serious injuries but also lost a lot of its elegance points.

At this point, Ivankov had only 6 points left, while Karas still had 12 points.

When it came to Coordination Battles, Pokémon that mainly relied on physical attacks often found themselves at a disadvantage.

The nature of the moves used was what made them visually spectacular and aesthetically pleasing, thus earning higher scores from the judges.

This was why Ivankov's Mawile, despite having a type advantage, had lower points compared to her opponent.

Mawile's attacks would only chip away a little of Karas's score, but if Honchkrow landed a flashy move, it could easily earn enough points to make up for two or three of Mawile's attacks.

Additionally, there was another key factor.

Honchkrow's mobility was significantly higher than Mawile's.

Therefore, many of Mawile's attacks were frequently dodged by Honchkrow. And whenever Mawile missed an attack, Ivankov's score would drop.

Out of all the points Ivankov had lost, at least a third was due to missed attacks.

The battle had reached a stalemate.

Ivankov barely had any points left.

But Karas's Honchkrow was in terrible condition; if it took another hit, it would likely lose the ability to continue fighting.

The decisive moment had arrived.

There were two ways to achieve victory.

The first was to completely deplete the opponent's points.

The second was to knock the opponent's Pokémon out before one's own points ran out.

During the few Coordination Battle Contests Ash participated in, he typically relied on the second method.

Since he wasn't good at those fancy, dazzling tricks, his rough attacks often cost him points. Therefore, his strategy was simply to defeat the opponent before his points were exhausted.

"Iron Head!"

"Dark Pulse!"

The moves used by both sides revealed their intentions.

Ivankov had given up on trying to preserve her points, opting instead for an all-out offensive to knock out Honchkrow before her own points hit zero.

On the other hand, Karas aimed to keep chipping away at Mawile's points from a distance, even resorting to using the weakened Dark-type move, Dark Pulse, having given up entirely on actually defeating the opponent.

The final exchange was set to erupt.

What no one expected was that Mawile charged straight at Honchkrow, enduring the blast of Dark Pulse head-on.

This was an all-or-nothing gamble!

Ivankov was betting that even after taking the hit from Dark Pulse, her points wouldn't be completely depleted.

If her points were wiped out, she would lose.

But if they weren't, Mawile would seize the brief moment of stiffness right after Honchkrow's attack and land a guaranteed hit.

Ivankov was confident that if Mawile's Iron Head hit, it would definitely cause Honchkrow to lose its ability to continue fighting.

On the giant screen, Ivankov's points began to drop rapidly, and everyone's eyes were glued to the descending numbers.

5

4

1.

It stopped!

The points finally halted at 1. The single Dark Pulse had wiped out five of Ivankov's points!

If this had happened earlier, it would have been a massive disadvantage.

But now...

Boom!

On stage, Mawile's Iron Head slammed solidly into Honchkrow's abdomen.

Honchkrow suffered a heavy blow. Already in poor condition, it couldn't hold on any longer. Its eyes rolled back as it began to spin in circles, its wings stretching out to the sides as it plummeted toward the ground.

"Return, Honchkrow. You've worked hard."

Before Honchkrow could hit the ground, Karas pulled out a Poké Ball and recalled it.

"Honchkrow is unable to continue fighting! The winner is Emporio Ivankov from the Kamabakka Kingdom!"

"Let's welcome the victor of the First Coordination Contest!"

"Welcome, the birth of the first Coordination Master!"

Izuna's seductive and charming voice echoed in everyone's ears.

"Fufufu!"

Ivankov and her Mawile spread their arms as if they were about to embrace the entire world.

They fully enjoyed the feeling of being in the spotlight and under the focus of the dazzling lights.

"Fufufu!" (xN)

Even the audience began chanting Ivankov's signature laugh, celebrating the appearance of a new Coordination Master.

Dak, who had initially been disinterested in the Coordination Contest, couldn't help but show an excited smile at the sight of such a grand spectacle.

But that smile quickly faded.

After the awards ceremony ended, Ivankov kicked open the door to Dak's office.

"Alliance Leader! I'm done with being a Gym Leader. I'm going to chase my dream! Fufufu~"

Ivankov, with her enormous head, pushed her way through the doorframe, leaving it crooked and distorted, dancing with wild enthusiasm in front of Dak.

"Huh?"

"I'm going to climb to the peak of the Coordination Master's path!"

"..."

Dak stared speechlessly at the crazed individual before him.

It seemed that after experiencing the feeling of standing on the stage until the very last moment, Ivankov had completely fallen in love with it.

Dak had no choice but to agree.
