Leader

Ichijō Mirai ignored Ishida Eiko's hesitation, "Thirty million dollars is not a problem."

Is 30 million dollars a lot? A lot.

With no money base of your own, and without breaking any laws or committing any crimes, collecting 30 million dollars from scratch in a year is a fool's errand.

But the game says it supports the exchange of in-game and real money.

What does that mean?

"If I want to pay it back quickly, I can just play the stock market," Ichijō Mirai said casually, "With a simple save and load, I can easily make at least hundreds of millions."

He added, "Earning and getting are two different things, and being able to retire and survive is another thing."

How many NPCs jumped off the building out of despair is another matter.

"You can also rob specific characters."

Some of the specific characters are old turtles with gold coins in their mouths and will spit them out as soon as they are forced to do so. 30 million dollars, even if the deduction for in-game currency is ten times that amount, can be easily solved in a few weeks.

It's not just a question of whether or not to pay back the money, it's a question of: "Be violent, and in a month's time at the latest, you'll be able to take control of the island."

This is the horror of the Fourth Crisis.

"In a game with such a high degree of realism, giving the player a lot of freedom and unlimited archiving and reading," Ichijō Mirai shrugs, "the officials are very confident."

It looks like a first-time game.

Anyone who has tried a game with a high degree of freedom before will deeply realize what the "Fourth Crisis" is. It will definitely crash against all kinds of players who are weird or even willing to eat shit. They will ruthlessly add various restrictions, at least remove the unlimited file loading and saving, and try to prevent the game from crashing.

The two Ishida's didn't get it.

Intellectually, Ishida Eiko could tell that Ichijō Mirai was just talking about the game, but referring to the people who were 'unlucky and died' on the first and second days, emotionally, she couldn't tell what Ichijō Mirai was talking about.

She's a little afraid to know.

She only used her identity as an 'aunt' and carefully avoided the topic, "Aren't you the first test takers? Take your time, don't rush, haha."

Ichijō Mirai swept past her, raised an eyebrow and smiled, "I'm talking about the game, Auntie."

"It's too much of a hassle in reality, and with the police chasing me, I don't want to do it for a while."

He stood up, relaxed and cheerful, "Okay, I'm done eating, you guys continue."

"I'm going upstairs to play a game."

To test the flexibility of the authorities.

It is easy to make money, stock market, lottery, casino, rich people, all roads lead to Rome, as long as the save and load files, players can easily occupy Rome, Ichijō Mirai can not only pay off the debt, but also make the game owe him billions.

But there is one thing: the game might, maybe, probably crash a little.

Just a small collapse of billions.

"Killing dozens of NPCs in one night, triggering the attention of the police and the wrath of the Codename members, and paying them back with black money," Ichijō Mirai pushed open the door to his bedroom, and sidled his head, "a personal loan that he didn't pay back."

"This kind of unexpected small problem, the official should have realized that too much freedom and archiving some compatibility conflicts, right?"

So what's the response?

Look at the flexibility.

Ichijō Mirai is going to see how flexible the game and officials are before deciding what to do next.

The next step isn't whether or not to pay back the money. Thirty million dollars doesn't matter.

What matters is the extremely backward level of everyday technology and the extremely advanced technology of the game pods, the game's officials, the real details of how 'he' owes the money and resists entering the game, and how it's possible to do the 'Please, the other me!'.

And...

When he's done helping people, will he stay or will he leave after he pays back the money?

"Until I know for sure, I can't find a way to pay back the money as quickly as I'd like."

Ichijō Mirai pushed open the bedroom window and looked down at the dimly lit street below.

Even at night, the backwardness and shabbiness was as obvious as the stars in the night, and almost everywhere looked like a remote and backward place.

The streetlights were dim, the cars on the street were clumsy, and the clothes of the pedestrians were not so backward as to make them look like blondes.

There are advantages and disadvantages to falling behind.

The most obvious benefit was that the police were also falling behind, not only in terms of equipment, but also in terms of theoretical knowledge and mentality.

"Barely," Ichijō Mirai thought carefully, and decided he could live with it, "It's better to be backward than to be sentenced to death for a crime you didn't commit."

He took one last look down, touched the wound on the back of his neck, closed the window as the blonde passerby stomping around the corner looked up sharply, and turned into the game pod.

The pod lit up.

The three rectangles reappeared, and a moment later, the first rectangle was still the same, while the second rectangle was no longer as unstable as the poorly connected one, and finally stayed lit.

Only compared to the first rectangle, less than half the brightness, a little dull.

Below the rectangle was a faintly illuminated message: [The past is not yet over, and the future has not yet arrived...]

Ichijō Mirai's eyes passed over the three rectangles, finally landing on the first one.

The first rectangle shook for a moment, and then a thick black mist came out to cover the entire field of vision.

When his vision cleared up again, Ichijō Mirai was back in the living room where he had landed.

There is a fixed reminder in the upper left corner.

[Year 0, June 14, 05:45]

[11th District, Tokyo.]

[Wanted Rating: 4 stars (false)]

[Current debt: 29,993,870.7.]

The cell phone vibrated, and a message came from Gin: [I just got word that you've made too much noise, and due to the pressure, the police are planning to launch a month-long cleanup campaign.]

[Theoretically, within a month, the police will strictly crack down on illegal criminal activities and mafia operations in Tokyo, and the team will try to close down the cases they are sure of.]

He didn't reply to Ichijō Mirai's message of warm advice to take a break and simply ignored it.

Ichijō Mirai looked at the two messages he received, and predicted: the next one, is definitely a strict injunction that he should be honest for a month.

And again: but it will be withdrawn.

If it's smart enough.

The phone vibrates, prompting the receipt of a new message: [Within a month, you...]

The message is withdrawn.

Ten seconds later, a new message appeared: [There is a mission tomorrow.]

"I haven't finished reading it yet," Ichijō Mirai tossed his phone, "Not bad, it's worthy of being a novice guide NPC that is so real that it looks like a real person. In just one night, he has already understood me, adapted to me, and planned himself."

"I like it."

Especially 'Planned himself'.

[I'll send you the details half an hour before the mission starts.]

[Not a hands-on task.]

[Try to do it as little as possible in a month, try not to do it more than five times, try not to make too much noise, try not to leave traces pointing back at you.]

The concentration of 'try' exceeds the standard.

[If this mission is successfully completed,] Gin sent another message, [there will be a surprise present.]

The surprise present hadn't even arrived when the surprise alert popped up.

['Motherland is Calling' achievements have all been unlocked, and the 'Leader' buff has been enabled.]
