Force of Nature (1)

*Solina*

He was powerful.

Those were her first thoughts when she'd first set eyes on Melchior. It was hard not to get intimidated by his stature right from the gate. A soldier just like them, yet he moved nothing like one.

His stark black cloak floated just inches above the ground, flowing elegantly with each movement. It was nothing like her worn, short blue cloak.

With all the strength she'd managed to detect with her eyes, she could still tell that he didn't think of himself as arrogant. He genuinely felt like he was better than the other squires. And that was true.

So what did she feel when Vepas had instructed her and Garlan to fight that day?

Cornered. Scared. Offended.

Cornered and scared because the man in front of her felt like no man. He was some sort of beast in human clothing. A force of nature at rest.

Offended because she couldn't accept that he was better.
