Huo Family Coming For Trouble (Part 3)

They proceeded to the hall and sat down near the main seat.

The matriarch adjusted her sleeves and finally glanced at Liang Hongyu.

Seeing no one else, she didn't speak to Liang Hongyu and maintained an air of arrogance as she waited to see Huo Tianzhou.

She's Huo Tianzhou's grandmother.

Liang Hongyu didn't have much of an impression of her, but the fact that they all showed up so ostentatiously suggested they were up to no good.

Since they weren't in a hurry to speak, Liang Hongyu saw no reason to waste words on them.

Huo Tianzhou had filled two bamboo containers with water on the dining table.

Liang Hongyu glanced at them and then turned away, picking up one of the containers and tying it to her waist.

Seeing her indifference, the matriarch finally lost her patience and sharply commanded, "Go call Tianzhou out."

The old woman's voice was shrill and harsh.

Liang Hongyu planned to go into the mountains today without the usual basket and asked Huo Tianzhou to bring a smaller one.

Huo Tianzhou came out with the basket and, upon nearing the hall, he heard a voice he hadn't heard in a long time, a voice that brought back his unpleasant memories.

When he walked out, he saw Mrs. Yang and the others and then noticed the matriarch who was sitting in the main seat.

His expression darkened as he stopped next to Liang Hongyu.

"Can't you at least offer some tea when your grandmother comes to see you so early in the morning?" Mrs. Yang who is emboldened by the matriarch's presence, arrogantly ordered him.

The matriarch looked over and saw that Huo Tianzhou didn't look well, his face pale and sickly.

It seemed her son and daughter-in-law's worries were justified.

She had never been fond of this grandson and she didn't come here for tea either.

In a seemingly considerate tone, she said, "Never mind. After all, you have been separated from us for a long time, so it's natural not to understand these things. Once you're married again, someone will take care of it."

She glanced at Liang Hongyu before continuing to Huo Tianzhou, "Last time, your uncle and aunt were only thinking of your well-being. But since this woman can't give you descendants, I'll arrange someone else for you later."

So it was about this again.

Liang Hongyu wanted to hear what they had in mind.

Huo Tianzhou stood still, his face expressionless as he looked at her.

"You're of age now, and I'm here today to help you handle the divorce."

As she spoke, Huo Changming who was standing beside her, took out a written divorce document.

"Sign this paper, go to the yamen with your uncle, and settle it, and we'll discuss your future marriage plans later."

After the matriarch finished speaking, Huo Changming spread the divorce document on the table.

Mrs. Yang looked at the document, secretly pleased.

Once Liang Hongyu signed the divorce paper, she would have to move out.

Even if Huo Tianzhou didn't marry, the house wouldn't end up with an outsider.

Huo Changming opened a wooden box containing writing tools and turned to Huo Tianzhou, saying, "Come over and sign it. The sooner we get to the yamen, the sooner we can come back."

The divorce was between him and Huo Tianzhou; it had nothing to do with outsiders.

Yet, the Huo family members had come to dictate terms, assuming that once they spoke, Huo Tianzhou would comply without question.

Even though Huo Tianzhou couldn't speak, he was still a person with his own thoughts.

They didn't consider asking what he wanted.

"You want me to divorce Tianzhou and have the nerve to barge into my home early in the morning," Liang Hongyu said, stepping forward and glaring at them, finally focusing on the matriarch, "Don't you think you're overstepping?"

"This house belongs to the Huo family. You wouldn't be living here if it weren't for us," the matriarch retorted, her face becoming even more sour.

"Huo Tianzhou has Huo family blood. I'm his grandmother. It's my rightful duty to manage his affairs. Who dares say otherwise?"

"You married into the Huo family, and you've been disrespectful both inside and outside the house. I intended to keep some dignity by merely suggesting a divorce, but since that's how you feel, we'll proceed with an official separation instead."

Madam Huo turned her head to Huo Tianzhou and said, ''What are you waiting for? Come over and sign. After signing, your younger uncle and others will accompany you to the yamen as witnesses.''

In a divorce, witnesses are usually family members or village elders who write the divorce letter and accompany them to the yamen to complete the procedure.

Although Liang Hongyu would divorce Huo Tianzhou in the future, it was her and Huo Tianzhou's own matter.

It was not something where the Huo family could intervene just because they wanted to.

She didn't say anything.

She just turned her head to look at Huo Tianzhou and was surprised to see Huo Tianzhou hesitating.

Not long after that, he put down the basket in his hand and walked over.

Seeing Huo Tianzhou's cooperation, Madam Huo's expression improved.

Mrs. Yang's hidden joy couldn't be concealed now, and her eyes urged Huo Tianzhou to finish writing quickly.

Huo Tianzhou picked up the divorce letter and looked down.

Liang Hongyu who is watching him, raised her eyebrows, feeling that she probably hadn't guessed wrong.

He initially agreed to proceed with the divorce with Liang Hongyu, but that shouldn't mean being led by others, especially by Mrs. Yang and the people from the Huo family.

After Huo Tianzho calmly read through it, he folded the paper nonchalantly and then tore up the divorce document and looked up at Madam Huo as if asking her to leave.

With the divorce document being torn to shreds, Madam Huo upon seeing this scene could no longer maintain her pretense of understanding towards Huo Tianzho and immediately became enraged.

"Fine! I always said there was nothing good to be learned from following that woman Gongsun. First, she incited my son to turn against his family, and now they've raised a disobedient and unfilial son like you. Since that woman couldn't educate you properly, today this old woman will teach you a lesson!"
