Chapter 32

Duke Matheo approached Lady Emilia with a comforting smile and eyes that showed unwavering support and affection as she stood there, her mind racing with a mixture of determination and apprehension.

"My dear Emilia," he said in a soft but firm voice, "you need not face this challenge alone. Whatever trials may come our way, know that I am here by your side, ready to lend you strength and guidance whenever you need it."

He took her hands in his, his touch grounding her amidst the storm of emotions threatening to overwhelm her. "You are more than capable of rising to any occasion, my love," he continued, his words a soothing balm to her troubled soul. "Trust in yourself, and trust in our love. Together, we will navigate this journey, and emerge stronger for it."

The weight of her aunt's expectations vanished in the face of their unshakable bond, and Lady Emilia felt her resolve solidify in the warmth of his embrace. She nodded, smiling from the bottom of her heart, knowing that with Duke Matheo by her side, she could handle any obstacles that came her way with bravery and style.

Lady Emilia smiled gratefully and met Duke Matheo's gaze, resolve and determination sparkling in her eyes. She whispered, "Thank you, my love," with a voice full of resolute conviction. "Your faith in me gives me the strength to face whatever challenges may come our way."

Gently squeezing his hands, she sent a silent pledge to him as they stood together, unified by their common goal. She said, "I will not let you down," expressing a serious promise to uphold his confidence and persevere in the face of difficulty.

Duke Matheo looked at the woman he loved, his smile growing and his eyes shining with pride. With a proud reply, "I know you won't, my dear Emilia," he said. "Together, we can overcome anything."

Fortified by the steadfast backing of her beloved Duke Matheo, Lady Emilia took on the challenge ahead with a fresh sense of purpose. Together, they boldly and resolutely confronted the future, prepared to meet any challenges that lay ahead as lifelong companions and lovers.

Lady Austine didn't take long to start Lady Emilia on her strict training program. Lady Austine called Lady Emilia to the training grounds before the sun rose, marking the early start of the mornings.

Lady Austine was waiting for Lady Emilia as she came out of her chambers at a bleary-eyed hour. Her gaze was harsh and unwavering. "Good morning, Madame Emilia," Lady Austine said with a curt hello. "We have much work to do today."

Lady Emilia nodded, bracing herself against the difficulties that were ahead. Although she was aware that Lady Austine's training would be difficult, she was committed to demonstrating her suitability for the title of Duchess of Ruthven.

Lady Emilia endured an exhausting set of drills and exercises under the close supervision of Lady Austine, all aimed at testing her mental and physical fortitude. Lady Emilia pushed herself to the maximum, eager to be the best in all she learned, from swordsmanship to etiquettes.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the training grounds, Lady Emilia could feel the exhaustion seeping into her bones. She had pushed herself to the limit throughout the day, determined to meet Lady Austine's exacting standards.

She was about to pass out from exhaustion when her devoted servant Sasha came over to her, looking worried. "My Lady," she whispered quietly, "you've been working tirelessly all day. You mustn't overexert yourself."

Lady Emilia forced a tired smile, appreciating Sasha's thoughtfulness. "Sasha, I understand your concern, but right now I can't afford to give up," she said in a determined tone. "I must prove myself worthy of the title of Duchess of Ruthven, no matter the cost."

With an expression of appreciation for her mistress's unwavering commitment, Sasha nodded understandingly. She answered, "Of course, my Lady." "But please remember to take care of yourself. Your health is paramount."

Feeling the weight of Sasha's words on her shoulders, Lady Emilia willed herself to push past the fatigue and find the inner strength to continue. Although she was aware that the road ahead would be difficult, she was ready to take on any obstacles.

Lady Emilia braced herself for the challenges ahead as the stars started to twinkle in the night sky, knowing that she would ultimately triumph with Sasha's help and her own unwavering spirit.

With a soft smile on his lips, Duke Matheo walked into Lady Emilia's chamber as she sat, exhausted from the training that day. He saw her tired state and knew right away what she needed.

He walked up to her and whispered, "Allow me, my love," in a gentle and sensitive manner. Sitting down next to her, he raised her feet gently and used expert hands to massage them, releasing the stress and exhaustion that had built up all day.

With a sigh of relief, Lady Emilia closed her eyes and let the warm sensation of his touch wash over her. With each soothing stroke, the stress and strain of the day dissipated as she relaxed under his care. She gave Duke Matheo a thank-you kiss on the cheeks.

Lady Emilia's expression of thanks made Duke Matheo grin warmly, his heart exploding with love for her. He leaned in to give her a kiss on the forehead in return.

"You're welcome, my dear," he said in a sweet, indiscernible voice. "I'll always be here for you, no matter what."

As he thought about what Lady Emilia had said, he embraced her tightly. He sighed softly and met her gaze, worry visible in his expression.

"My love, I understand your determination, but I hate to see you exhausted like this," he added, his worried tone underlying his gentle words. "You've already proven yourself to be strong and capable in so many ways. Perhaps it's time to listen to your body and take a break."

With a resolute expression, Lady Emilia met his stare; her eyes gleamed with fortitude.

Her voice was firm and determined as she answered, "I want to see this through, my dear, but I appreciate your concern." "I need to prove to myself that I can rise to any challenge, no matter how difficult. Besides, with you by my side, I know I can overcome anything."

With pride in the lady he loved, Duke Matheo's heart grew larger as he observed her tenacity.
