"ANYONE HELLLLPPPPPP PLEEEAASSSSSEEEEE...AHHHHHH...STOP PLEASE...STOPPPPPP"
Once the door slid open, the piercing scream reached Dean's ears instantly prompting him to sprint towards the source. His sword was sheathed so that he could run faster. Kat chose to shrink and sit on Dean's shoulder to watch his back.
Splash Splash Splash
The entire 13th floor seems to be flooded with water reaching up to 1 inch deep (2.5 cm), it didn't impede Dean's movement but it did alert whatever is lurking in the dark hallway.
Bam
The ceiling vent above Dean burst open revealing a husk with its upper half hanging upside down swinging its blade arm reaching for its prey.
Slash
Dean quickly duck his head down but kept his momentum as this was the first survivor he encountered and any delay would decrease their survivability.
Splash Splash
Dean's watch light revealed a few fresh corpses, suggesting they died recently, and Kat scanned them briefly but the corpses were students belonging to the lower floors. This revelation suggested either these people escaped up here or they slept here because of the pre-graduation party last night.
"stop....ugh"
"hehehee"
"Me likey this one's scream.....huh?"
"Someone's coming?"
"Oh a knight in shining armor maybe? How fun it'll be hahahaha"
As Dean got near the lounge area of floor 13, multiple demonic voices could be heard which suggested fiends were the culprits alongside the husks.
Splash
Dean slowed down taking a quick breath filling his lungs, but the heavy metallic smell of blood invaded his nostrils. He wrinkled his nose slightly.
His watch light fought back the darkness and revealed bits of the lounge area but it was enough to freeze Dean still. Kat, curious to why Dean flinched, turned around and saw something that will be itched into her core memory for a very long time.
The sofas were covered in human skins.
Heads and even skulls were used by multiple fiends to play some versions of ball games such as football or basketball.
Multiple skinless and headless husks were walking around as servants to the fiends serving alcohol and snacks with their one free arm as the other one is a bone sword.
In the middle of the lounge, on the floor was a skinless corpse....no not a corpse....a body as it was still breathing but dying of blood loss and extreme pain.
Near the skinless body was a young woman sitting on the ground hugging her knees and ignoring the puddle of blood soaking her bottom. Her listless expression and motionless body suggested her mind reached its limit and broke.
The young woman didn't even flinch to the light coming from Dean's direction proving that her mind has been broken.
"Looky here our knight in shining armor came."
"Hehehe...too bad he's late....hehehe.....this guy is dying and that damsel looks like a broken doll now."
"Oh it's the virgin nerd!"
"Like our new decorations?"
"Our permanent number 2"
"Our virgin knight hahahaha"
Dean's mind wasn't frozen because of the intense blood and gore that happened in front of him. But because...
'I was too late' 'If only I was faster' 'If I didn't spend so much time on the 14th floor'
....he was feeling guilty for arriving too late as one survivor was rapidly dying and the other isn't mentally there anymore.
Meanwhile for Kat, this was her first time seeing so much violence happening at once. Normally she wasn't bothered by much blood and gore as she witnessed them in movies or during Dean's class field trips.
But the intense sickening scene in front of her eyes caused Kat to gag even though she couldn't smell or even have a 'real' stomach.
Her gagging and coughing alerted Dean to reality and starting sizing up how many enemies he needed to dispose of.
13 fiends.
13 husks including the one far behind him.
At least that's the rough estimate as Dean saw multiple pairs of red glowing eyes with glowing red veins since his watch light only barely illuminated the middle of the lounge.
'Too many to fight at once'
Dean was right on that account as husks were easier to deal with while fiends still had their abilities when they were normal human beings.
The skinned figure temporarily got out of shock and their blurry vision saw a bright light revealing the figure to be a savior, their mind was quickly racing from extreme happiness because someone came to the rescue to intense sadness because they were too late.
Wanting to help, they weakly attempted to speak through the extreme pain only managing to voice out, "....run...", then succumbed to their horrid wounds and died.
Hearing the weak voice and already deciding his next plan of action, Dean quickly turned around and ran.
Splash
"HUH? THE VIRGIN IS RUNNING GET HIM"
"Ohohohoh a chase how fun"
"YOUR ASS IS MINE NERD"
"IT'S VIRGIN NERD DUMBASS"
"Yeah yeah same thing."
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN SAME THING"
The demonic voices argued while giving chase throwing their weapons and abilities at Dean.
Javelins were thrown.
Arrows were shot.
Range abilities were used.
All of them missing their mark as Dean used his telekinesis on the physical objects and used them to intercept the ability attacks skillfully. But these attacks were slowing him down as his concentration was averted to behind him.
Kat who snapped out of it as Dean began to turn around and run, was quickly 'hopping' through the door panels checking which dorm room would be suitable for Dean to even the playing field.
Then Kat discovered the perfect place for Dean as she opened the door to the far right, ahead of Dean.
[THERE ENTER THAT ROOM]
Near the opened door was the husk from earlier, limping towards Dean as it appears to have twisted its ankle from clumsily chasing him.
Swoosh
Hearing a solid object reaching near him from behind, Dean used his telekinesis and redirected the object, a javelin, to pierce through the husk sending it back into the darkness.
Then he reached the door and enter in with Kat immediately sealing it from outsiders.
"Haaa....haaa.....thanks Kat", Dean breathe heavily while thanking his digital best friend.
[Thank me after], Kat weakly answered as she was still partly in shock from earlier.
Dean looked around the apartment, and he instantly knew who the owner was.
