Chapter 13 The Embarrassing Slip of Hand

Tong Tong looked at Mu Jingyan with surprise, and her first reaction was that it was impossible.

Everyone knew that Mu Jingyan detested women and would not possibly have relations with a woman outside, let alone with Tong Xiaoxiao.

But looking at Mu Jingyan's calm face, he did not seem to be joking.

So, could it be that Tong Xiaoxiao was really the uncle's woman?

Suddenly, she felt as if her heart was pricked by a needle.

Seeing that she did not speak for a while, Mu Jingyan opened his mouth and said, "Do you have any other questions?"

Tong Tong suddenly snapped back to reality, shook her head quickly, turned around, and hurried away.

Mu Jingyan watched the girl's hurried retreating figure, his brows furrowed slightly, his feet moved a bit, but he did not chase after her.

The medical report about Tong Xiaoxiao was quickly delivered to Mu Jingyan.

Xiaoxun was somewhat shocked, "She's actually pregnant, and the terms of the pregnancy match up, could it be that the woman that day was really her!?"

Mu Jingyan did not speak. He looked at the documents about Tong Xiaoxiao, trying to find clues about Mu Xiangdian's whereabouts in them.

Xiaoxun, seeing that Mu Jingyan was not paying attention to him and did not even glance at Tong Xiaoxiao's medical report, could not help but called out.

"Mr. Mu?"

Mu Jingyan threw the documents on the table, his face dark as he spoke.

"Check her mother's records from that time period, there must be Mu Xiangdian's handiwork behind it."

Hearing Mu Xiangdian's name, Xiaoxun immediately became serious, took the documents, and immediately went to check.

"Yes."

On the other hand, Tong Tong, thinking about the matter between Tong Xiaoxiao and Mu Jingyan, did not sleep well all night. The next morning, she got up with heavy dark circles under her eyes, her face full of unease.

If Tong Xiaoxiao was carrying Mu Jingyan's child, what would happen to their contract?

That was three years for thirty million.

Thinking of this, Tong Tong instantly felt a bit restless.

She stood up, took a deep breath, and throughout her life, she had seldom fought for anything for herself because she knew that no matter how hard she tried, her father would still favor Tong Xiaoxiao.

Now she could live in peace only because the Tong Family was unclear about her relationship with the uncle. If she left the Mu Family, what awaited her thereafter would only be hell.

She had been violated by that strange man, and if the Tong Family found out, she would be done for. For the present Tong Tong, even staying in the Mu Family as a maid would be better than being seized by the Tong Family.

Tong Tong left the living room and, for the first time, went to Mu Jingyan's study on her own initiative.

Mu Jingyan spent every day either at his company or in his study dealing with matters—this time was no exception.

After knocking on the door, Mu Jingyan's voice soon came from inside.

She took a deep breath, bolstered her courage, and walked in.

"Pour the tea," the man said without lifting his head, his gaze fixed on the documents in his hand.

Tong Tong was startled; it seemed the uncle had not noticed that it was her who had come in.

Feeling somewhat guilty and remembering that she had come to ask a favor, she obediently turned to make the tea.

The teaware was on the side table.

The tea set was a very clear blue, and it felt as cool and smooth as fine jade to the touch.

Handling the tea set, which looked incredibly valuable, Tong Tong was very careful.

The water was already hot. She clumsily brewed the tea and then carried it over to Mu Jingyan's side.

Tong Tong had seen the pen in the man's hand before; Tong Xiaoxiao had given one from the same brand to Tong's Father. It was said that even the basic model cost seven or eight hundred thousand.

Tong Tong poured the tea into a cup by Mu Jingyan's hand, then passed it over.

"Uncle, the tea is ready," she said.

Just as Tong Tong's words had fallen, Mu Jingyan's gaze almost immediately landed on her.

Why was this child here?

Mu Jingyan liked quietness, and during work, Xiaoxun and Aya would only speak to report on their duties and generally wouldn't say anything else.

And Tong Tong was very quiet as well, so much so that it was only now that Mu Jingyan realized the person who had come in was her.

Just by standing in front of him, the girl was as beautiful as a painting, but her big eyes were wavering, showing an expression that she had something to say.

Clasping her fingers nervously, Tong Tong said, "I, I... I know that Tong Xiaoxiao is pregnant with your child, Uncle, but... we signed a contract, and if you want to divorce me to marry Tong Xiaoxiao, that's okay. After all, she's carrying your child, and it wouldn't be right for the child to be born without a father."

"It's just that... It's just that..."

She slowly started speaking, and strangely, the more she talked, the more a tinge of bitterness seemed to seep into her heart.

She had never owned anything of her own since she was a child; everything good would be taken away by Tong Xiaoxiao. She had thought she could finally break free from the Tong Family, but it turned out that it was Tong Xiaoxiao who would receive these things all along.

"Uncle, can you let me stay in the Mu Family and not send me back? I can even stay here as a maid..."

Mu Jingyan hadn't expected her to talk about this matter. He rubbed his forehead and slowly said, "I will handle her issue, our contract will continue as usual."

There was still something fishy about the incident at the hotel; he didn't believe that the woman that day was Tong Xiaoxiao. But given that Tong Xiaoxiao knew about this, it was clear that it had something to do with Mu Xiangdian. He needed to use this opportunity to trace back and find Mu Xiangdian.

Although Tong Tong didn't understand what Mu Jingyan was thinking, she was still relieved to hear his words.

No matter what, she had at least secured the thirty million.

She pushed the teacup forward; it was the tea that Mu Jingyan had just asked her to brew, and she was trying to extend an olive branch.

Mu Jingyan glanced at her and took a sip.

The taste was a bit bitter.

Seeing that her wealthy patron had drunk her tea, Tong Tong took a deep breath. As long as she behaved well and stayed out of trouble in the Mu Family, she would most likely be able to remain.

Now that she knew Tong Xiaoxiao was the woman Mu Jingyan loved, Tong Tong didn't plan to stay long. She turned around and was ready to leave when she noticed a black smudge on the man's collar.

"Uncle, there seems to be something dirty on your collar."

Mu Jingyan looked down, but the spot was off to the side and difficult for him to see. Tong Tong directly approached, reaching out to pinch the corner of his collar.

"Uncle, right here."

The body wash the girl used seemed to be peach-scented; being close, he could smell the sweet fragrance.

Their proximity was such that, unusually, Mu Jingyan felt no urge to pull away.

Tong Tong lowered her head, her fingers rubbing the collar, only to find that the dark spot wasn't dirt but an ink stain that couldn't be wiped away.

Just as she was about to speak, she lifted her head and suddenly realized how close they were, so close that they could clearly feel each other's breath.

She froze, her eyes widening instantly.

Mu Jingyan didn't move. His pupils were very black, and when he looked at someone, they conveyed an extreme indifference. Yet, paradoxically, with his superior facial features, he resembled a Satan from hell.

Even though one knows it's dangerous, one can't help but be lured in.

As their eyes met, the study door was suddenly flung open from the outside.

The sudden noise startled Tong Tong, and her already taut nerves snapped at that moment. In her haste to stand up, she knocked against the edge of the desk, tumbling into Mu Jingyan's arms.

Xiaoxun stood at the doorway holding files, having just called out "Mr. Mu," then he froze in place upon seeing the two's actions, immediately turning around without hesitation to retreat.

With a bang, the door closed, pulling Tong Tong's thoughts back. Mu Jingyan's body was rigid, yet unexpectedly warm.

Realizing she was still sitting on Mu Jingyan's lap, Tong Tong panicked even more.

Sometimes, the more one panics, the easier it is to make mistakes.

As she tried to stand up, she unwittingly pressed down on his leg trying to leverage herself up, but her hand slipped and she pressed somewhere else instead.

The man let out a muffled groan, and then he grabbed Tong Tong's arm firmly.

"You!"
