Mason's POV

I should've felt satisfied. After all, I'd put every piece in place. Bethany was mine on paper, bound by the contract, and Adrian's growing irrelevance was just the cherry on top. But no, instead of victory, there was this gnawing fury in my gut, a rage that kept me pacing my office like a caged animal.

Because now I knew.

Bethany and Adrian. They still had the gut to be sneaking around behind my back without any care in the world that I, or anyone at all could find out and that'd tarnish the reputation of me and the pack.

It wasn't just suspicion anymore. No, I had confirmation now. My spies, the ones they thought were just "innocent staff members", had been thorough.

"She met him in the woods again," Garrett, my most loyal tracker, had reported that morning. "Just a few minutes. They didn't touch, but the way they looked at each other..."

That was all I needed to hear.
