"Yamato, come here," Father called, and I could hardly contain my excitement. I knew it was only a matter of time before we heard the news here in Wano. I had been waiting for this moment for what felt like forever.
I felt a thrill of excitement knowing what was about to happen. Just two weeks ago, a newspaper had arrived with the news that Roger, the Pirate King, had been captured and was going to be executed. And today was the day. I was ready to watch it with the top members of the Beast Pirates.
Yamato rushed over to Kaido, who lifted her onto his lap as he started up his visual Proko Den Den Mushi. It took a few seconds to connect, but soon enough, she saw a live feed from Loguetown, just like in the stories she had heard.
The town was packed with people, and after what felt like an endless wait, the Marines finally arrived with a massive warship, guarded by several vice admirals. When the ship docked, a huge plank was lowered, and soon after, Roger appeared, walking down it with a smile on his face.
Roger's smile was contagious, a wide grin that seemed completely out of place given the situation. It was like he knew something the rest of the world didn't. That grin made the tension even worse, and I felt a chill run down my spine. I couldn't help but admire him, even though he was about to die.
Father grunted, maybe in approval or just interest, but his eyes stayed glued to the screen. "That man…" he muttered, almost to himself. "He's something else."
The crowd in Loguetown was silent, watching in a mix of awe, fear, and anger as Roger was led up to the execution platform. The scaffold was high above the crowd, a harsh reminder of the consequences of standing against the world. Two executioners were waiting, their faces hidden by masks, their swords gleaming in the sunlight.
Roger didn't hesitate as he climbed the steps, the chains on him rattling with each movement. Once at the top, he faced the crowd, still incredibly calm. The whole world seemed to hold its breath as he was forced to his knees, the executioners taking their positions beside him.
This was it. The end of the Pirate King. The end of an era.
But just as one of the executioners raised his sword, someone in the crowd shouted, "What did you do with your treasure? The One Piece? Where is it?"
The question hung in the air, echoing through the square. The executioner paused, sword still in the air, and all eyes turned to Roger, waiting for his answer. The tension was unbearable, and I found myself gripping Father's arm tightly, barely breathing.
Roger looked out over the crowd and then, to everyone's surprise, he laughed. It was a deep, hearty laugh that echoed through the square, sending chills down everyone's spine, including mine.
"If you want my treasure, you can have it! I left everything I gathered together in one place. Now, you just have to find it!"
His words sent a shockwave through the crowd, and for a moment, there was stunned silence. Then, the square erupted into chaos. Shouts, screams, and cries of disbelief filled the air as people realized what Roger had just done. He hadn't just accepted his fate; he had set the stage for the greatest treasure hunt the world had ever seen.
Even as the executioners' swords fell, ending his life, Roger's laughter echoed across the sea, carried by the winds to every corner of the world. His final words would ignite the flames of adventure in countless hearts, marking the beginning of the Great Pirate Era.
Father didn't say anything as the broadcast ended, the screen going black. He just sat there, a thoughtful look on his face, his thoughts unreadable. But I knew deep down that something had changed. The world had just shifted, and nothing would ever be the same again.
"Roger…" King murmured, almost to himself. "Even in death, he's causing trouble for the world."
"That crazy fool…," Queen muttered, his usual cocky attitude slipping for a moment. "He really did it. The whole world's gonna go crazy over this."
He started to chuckle, the sound growing louder as he processed the situation. "Hahaha! Well, this is gonna be fun! All those wannabe pirates chasing after Roger's treasure, tearing each other apart. They won't know what hit them when they cross paths with us!"
King crossed his arms, already thinking about the challenges and opportunities this new era would bring. The Great Pirate Era would surely lead to an influx of challengers, people who thought they could take on the world and claim the title of Pirate King. King knew it was his job to protect Kaido and the Beast Pirates from any such threats.
"Chaos will reign," he said quietly, his voice calm and steady. "But we will stand above it all. No matter how many rise to chase after Roger's dream, they will fall before us."
King glanced at Kaido, who was already making plans aloud, and then at Yamato, who was practically bouncing with excitement. "I better start training Yamato soon," he thought. "She's been asking me to teach her swordsmanship for a long time."
