The Nanahara family dinner today was rather simple. Nanahara Takeshi had used meatballs he idly made the night before to create a dish called "Rainbow Glazed Meatballs"—it had shrimp, fish, pork, beef, lamb, and chicken meatballs all included, each with their own unique flavor, yet united by the rich broth. The whole dish was smooth, tender, and delicious, the essence of a fine meal.
A spiritual medium who was also a gourmet chef and blessed with an emperor's tongue, a police dog's nose, and hyperthymestic syndrome was willing to start from scratch, selecting the finest ingredients and meticulously handcrafting every step of the process. Even if the dish was not overly complex, spending three or four hours on its preparation, the result was always exceptional, worthy of competing in the Culinary King Tournament.
