chapter Eight

We walked down the pavement and it was an awkward silence until I broke it.

"Have I told you how beautiful you are today?"

"Yeah a lot"

"Sorry I just can't help it, you really wowed me today you know, I haven't ever seen you dress like this before so I'm speechless"

"Yeah, you should thank lily, she styled me today, told me I dress like Mary sou all the time so I should stop that and let free for some time"

"And she's really right, I love it"

"Thank you"

"Okay so.. don't forget what you promised me though"

"What" I knew she was feigning ignorance.

"Well.. about the prom, you'll be my date"

"Of course I won't, just don't forget your own part of the deal" we arrived at her house, after walking the busy street, she opened the door and turned to look at me, "I uh.. think I better enter in now, don't wanna keep you waiting or perhaps you would like to come on for a cup of coffee before leaving, the weather is quote cold tonight" " I smiled, she turned around to invite me in and I entered. The house was cozy and warm just like her.

"Just sit over there I'll bring it up in a few minutes" I sat down on the counter table.

"I love your home, it's warm"

"Thanks, I did most of the decorations"

"I love it"

"Thanks, my mom isn't home, she's having shift at the hospital"

"Your mom's a doctor?" I was surprised.

"Nurse actually"

"Now I know where you got the enthusiasm to become a doctor too"

She finally came with two cups of coffee.

"Blame it on good genes I guess, bottoms up"

We slowly sipped the coffee while talking and laughing.

When we were done, she collected the glasses each and then saw me off to the door.

"Good night"

I smiled, "good night Cassy" she was about turning around when I stopped her again.

"Cassy"

When she turned around I gave her a kiss on the cheek and told her good night before leaving.

I came to school the next day determined to avoid Richard to the least, after that surprising kiss that made me restless all night, I had told Lily what had happened so when she saw me in the hall, she smiled and comforted me so I told her I was determined to avoid him for a while.

"Avoiding him won't get you anywhere you know you guys are practically almost together" lily said.

"I'll try my best, I don't care, I'll do my best!"

"I still suggest you see him and talk to him about it"

"No way, it'd make it more awkward and I might just end up disgracing myself"

"So will you avoid him for the rest of your life, he knows where you live"

"That's true, anyws6, let's just get through today, I'll definitely succeed"

"Let's see how that works" she said.

"What?"

"Cassandra" I heared Richard's voice and I shrinked, "make an excuse for me"

I did a good job of avoiding Richard through the entire three periods I had, Richard had already figured out I was avoiding him, I had to meet my teacher who had me tutor Richard, I hope there was no trouble, when I went in I saw Richard there already, noo, not after my hard day of work, though I must admit it was tiring, trying to stay away from Ricard. After taking my seat, the teacher commended me for my efforts, then talked on Richard's improvement, after we left the office I wanted to sneak away when he held me back.

"Why are you avoiding me Cassy"

"I'm not, I'm just uh.. busy"

"Then why can't you look at me"

I didn't say anything

"I'm not really avoiding you, I'm just busy today and-"

"Because of the kiss" my cheeks turned red and I felt hot, did he have to say it like that, men, I suddenly felt hot.

"N..no, no it's not because of the kiss or anything" yep I definitely couldn't hide it, I'm sure I look like a tomato now.

"Have you never been kissed before" I didn't say anything and bit my lip,

"Cassy are- you're still a virgin?" He whispered.

"I- stop it, I'm not answering you, gosh that's such am improper question to ask, whatever, yes yes, I am so what, it's not like it's a crime or anything, no one would beat me of I havent kissed or done something before" I stood my ground.

He smiled, "no no, I don't mind, I love it, I didn't mean to startle you, but I've really been meaning to do it, you've just been occupying a lot of places in my heart and that night, you just looked so beautiful I decided to do it there on the spot, I hope you can forgive me though" he made a cute face at me, I smiled.

"Apology accepted "

"Thank you, I think you'll have to stay in the studio a lot longer, I have one last final class"

"I don't mind, take your time"

I went to the studio tired, and dozed off after waiting for Richard.

When I opened my eye, I saw Richard looking at me. I blinked a couple of times to clear the sleep awayvftom my eyes.

"How long have I slept"

"Exactly 30 minutes"

I looked at the clock, it was 5pm,

"You could have woke me up, now we'll miss our lessons, God I'm just so tired, sorry"

"I didn't want to disturb. You, you look pretty when you drool" I hit his arm,

"Let's just go, we can't stay by longer, school will be over in a few minutes and we have to go Incase they lock us in here"

"Wouldn't that be fun"

"For you or perhaps…"

"I have the perfect plan for her but we'll execute it after prom night so that they won't suspect us"

"Of course"
