chapter Eleven

***Next day***

I was going around the hospital doing simple checks and smiling. I woke this morning with a slight pain but after that it was all gone.

As I was discussing with the doctors on the cases a stretcher rolled in with a pregnant woman about to go into labor she was screaming and I rushed to the cart bed.

"An accident triggered the birth of the baby"

"Quickly prep her for surgery and assemble the team, prepare for surgery"

"Will you be taking the lead here Mrs Wilson? But your condition –"

"That's enough, do as I say this is an emergency the baby's head is already showing! Hurry, this is code red!!"

"You need to push harder, the baby's almost out?" I wiped the sweat off my brow, and the first baby came out.

"Oh my God they are twins, it's the last one" I turned around when a sharp pain invaded my body and I screamed out,

"Arghh!!"

"I clutched my stomach as it contracted"

"Doctor Cassandra, what's happening!"

"My stomach Arghh!!" The sound of two women screaming in the ward was loud, I fell to the floor as I felt something wet slipping down my legs and soaking my trousers.

"My.. my water just broke"

Richard's POV

I was in a very important meeting when my phone rang. I frowned wondering who could be calling. I never answer calls during meeting hours except Cassandra's calls, and this was an unknown number. I left it to ring a few times before my secretary asked me to pick it up.

"Hello" I said angrily, a few seconds later my countenance changed and I stood up immediately, "what did you say?!"

The whole hall became silent immediately. "Okay I'll be there!" I cut the call immediately, "the meeting is adjourned immediately" I said and left the hall immediately, everyone was surprised because I have never adjourned a meeting for anything before.

As I walked out I immediately called my mom.

"Mum, Cassy's in the hospital, she's in delivery right now"

Mum: "what? How is she? How was the baby fine?"

"Yes, she was in surgery when she went into the labor, the doctor said her condition is critical and we should come immediately"

Mom: "Okay, her mom and I will be there"

I cut the call and rushed out of the building, getting into the car, "go to the hospital now!" The car drove straight to the hospital, and I ran inside.

"Mr Wilson" a nurse called.

"My wife, how is she? What is wrong?"

My mom and Cassy's mom ran in.

"Richard!" Cassy's mom called me.

"Mommy, mom, I just arrived"

A doctor came in, "Mr Wilson, your wife is in the best care right now, her delivery was something quite unexpected as she had contraption during the surgery scheduled today but be rest assured that she is okay now, so I'll take you to her"

"Okay doctor" as we were walking we heard someone talking in the background, asking for Cassy '' when I turned around I saw Lily and Jonathan.

"Jonathan, Lily Over Here" I had called them when I rushed out of the company.

"Hey man is she okay?" Jonathan Said.

"How is the baby?" Lily asked

"I just called Jacob and Michael, Michael will be back in the country this week and Jacob should be on his way"

The doctor led us straight to her ward, she was still unconscious and her eyes were closed.

"She's still under anesthesia, the delivery was successful and she gave birth to a pair of twins"

"What?" All of us said at once.

"Twins?" I said incredulously.

"Doctor, where are the children?" my mom asked.

"The nurse will lead you to the children section"

"My daughter is going to be fine right?" Cassy's mom asked, and the doctor nodded, both of them and Lily left.

I turned to look at the doctor, "I know what you're worried about Mr Wilson, you can rest assured that Mrs Wilson will be fine, she's one of the most talented doctor we have and she'll be taken good care of, the delivery took a lot of toll on her so I suggest she should be fed and taken proper care of, do not let her stress herself so much"

"I understand doctor, thank you very much"

When the doctor and everyone left, I went towards Cassy's bed where she was still asleep, I vent down and kissed her forehead, and her lip,

"Thank you, my queen" I whispered.

I sat down and carried her into my arms, caressing her hair.

"You're not gonna see the babies?" Jonathan asked.

"I will, when she wakes up, Cassandra is the most important thing in my life, I will never forgive myself if anything happens to her, she's the only thing keeping me sane"

"I do admire her, twins, she's strong like she always were"

"Yeah, I remember our first meeting, she was so feisty so strong, totally independent and didn't want our protection," I laughed.

"I do remember a certain person and her used to be like sworn enemies, you guys basically fought everytime and you were just so narcissistic and proud around her" "Yeah she really hated my guts, and she didn't hesitate to show it to my face, I remember when she threw my money to my face when I tried to pay her off" I said remembering all the past.

"Do you know the funniest thing?" Jonathan laughed.

"What is it?"

"She said she'll never fall for you, that's there's no way in this life that she'll ever fall for you"

"Yeah I remember that" I whispered.

"I wouldn't have, if you didn't steal it purposely" Cassy whispered.

"Cassy? Are you out of anesthesia?" I looked down at her, feeling nostalgia.

"Richard, my baby, where's my baby"

"Your children are fine, you had twins by the way" Jonathan said.

"Twins? So your prayer came through huh? Who do they look like?" She smiled.

"I.. I haven't checked I was waiting for you baby"

"I'm in pains"

"It's fine, we can wait"

"Jonathan? Where's lily, where's mom ""they're with the baby, I'll tell them to bring the child here instead so you could hold them" Jonathan stood up to go.

"Jonathan?" Cassy called him back.

"Yes baby girl?"

"Thank you" he smiled and left, holding her hands to mine, I kissed it, "darling I thought you were in a meeting, don't tell me you had to postpone it for me?"

"Of course I did, why wouldn't I postpone it, if anyone dares to complain he or she will be fired"

Cassy smiled, "I meant you should have waited till after the meeting"

"Nothing is more important to me in this world than you and our children, you come first before anything, and even if I had to stop the whole world just for you, I would, I would never be where I am today without you, you, only you bring out the angel in me"

I pressed my forehead to hers and stared into her eyes, "I love you" she whispered.
