Chapter Twenty Six

When I open my eyes I'm panting, trying to catch my breath, and we're forehead to forehead and she's staring up at me.

Fuck. I'm undone.

I plant a swift kiss on her forehead and pull out of her and lie down beside her.

She winces as I withdraw, but other than that she looks okay.

Raula's lips stretch into a slow smile. It is so infectious, so I find myself smiling back at her. Her smile is immediately replaced by a shocked gasp.

What?

"I have never seen you smile like this," she says.

Is that so?

"Really?" I lift an eyebrow in question.

She nods.

"I hardly ever get to live suck beautiful moments that are worth smiling about," I respond, my mind slowly slipping into an abyss of darkness.

"Oh," she gasps, and then sits up, her hands reaching for my face.
