Chapter Twenty-Seven

Daisy led Theo through a dark corridor. Theo knew what he was doing had to be wrong, however, he could not stop.

"Where are we going?" he asked.

"Shh, we don't ask questions," Daisy said.

"What do you mean?"

"Scholar angels are the curious ones. We, the warrior angels, are supposed to be good at following orders. We don't ask too many questions," she said.

"Ridiculous," Theo murmured, rolling his eyes.

"Yeah, some rules of angels are indeed ridiculous," Daisy nodded.

Theo stared at her back. Her golden hair always seemed to shine, even in the dark.

"You can do that and if my sister does it, she is punished?"

"Please, Theo, your sister did it in front of the Base. You keep some thoughts to yourself. It's for your own good," she said. "The Base doesn't tolerate any kind of disobedience. If you want to remain an Angel, you must do whatever the Base wants you to do."
