The Badger vs. The Monster

Naos's eyes glazed over the man who identified himself as the Badger with judging eyes. Just as he had expected, a bulky man with a ferocious aura.

"Your name is deserved." Naos stood up from his chair. "Now, shall we have a little chat?"

His foe's arrogance did not provoke Badger. The man who had stood up from his chair was someone he could not underestimate. The man was surrounded by the unconscious bodies of Badger's henchmen like a monument to his competency.

"What would you like to talk about..." Badger inquired.

"Naos." Unlike his true actions, the man named Naos nodded gentlemanly. "I have a friend named Curtis, and he gave me a deal. He would help me with my endeavors. All I would need to do was take care of a local gang for him."

"It seems that I have angered the wrong person." Badger sighed.

"No, not angered. I am quite happy right now." Naos smiled, sending shivers down the spines of anyone who saw it. "I get many benefits from this fight."

"And you're not afraid of death?"

"I've no reason to be afraid." Naos took a step towards Badger. "After all, you can't kill me."

"What makes you so sure about that?" Badger looked calmly at the approaching Naos.

"Experience if I were to name one reason," Naos shrugged, "no one has been able to in a while, and they were much stronger and more cunning than someone like you."

"Are you calling me a fool?" A vein bulged on Badger's forehead, causing his henchmen to cower.

Naos's eyes smiled, "Maybe I am."

Bang!

The goons jerked their heads away from their boss to the other side of the room. Inside an indent shaped ambiguously like a person, Naos was bloodied and battered.

If it were a regular person, they would've been shattered by this hit. After all, Badger had something Logan would've called magic.

But Naos was not a normal person.

Reaching one arm out, he grasped at the wall and pulled himself back to solid ground. His knuckles which looked like they would be unable to move just a moment before started to regain their normal color.

Naos rose steadily and looked back at Badger. His blood was fading away quickly, showing the completely fine Naos underneath.

Badger couldn't hide his wavering frown and wide eyes. This was an attack at nearly his full power, a power that an ordinary person couldn't hope to obtain.

Naos leaned slightly forward and blitzed at Badger, swinging his fist with his full weight in addition to the momentum. Badger countered with his own and they collided violently.

The henchmen were running away, praying to something so that they wouldn't be caught up in this fight. Unfortunately, the direction they had decided on in the heat of the moment was the one that Naos had started barreling towards.

He crashed into the wall just like before, but one of Badger's subordinates was caught in the crossfire. Their bodies collided grimly, causing blood to splatter over the surroundings. The remaining goons were frozen in fear and disbelief.

Badger grimaced and focused on where he thought Naos would be. After the first hit, he thought this would be a bit difficult. But after the second hit, he could feel Naos's body reconstructing itself in that fleeting moment Badger's fist connected with his body.

Badger realized that Naos had an ability as well.

"Nice strength," Naos spoke from within the reddish dust that raised from the second hole in the wall. "that's not something you can get from just training."

"Thanks, captain obvious." Unlike how casually Badger was talking, he was truly afraid of what Naos's capabilities amounted to.

An undefeatable soldier was infinitely more terrifying than a skilled one. Badger's mind was now focusing on escaping in any way he could.

"You know," Naos's calm voice gave Badger goosebumps, "people usually try to find a way out once they figure out what I can do. But I can't let that happen."

Naos pulled a knife out of his coat. Surprisingly, the coat had not received any damage at all during this fight.

Orion was finally being used against a worthy opponent. The blade gleamed like it was attracting the blood in the air. Naos held it perpendicular to his arm and blazed forward once more.

This time, Badger's unsteady fist met the blade of Orion, leaving a straight cut from the knuckle down to the shoulder and away from Badger.

Naos had just cut Badger's arm in half the long way, with only one strike.

Blood spurted and Badger fell to the floor while clutching his arm, holding it together while he was writhing in agony.

Naos turned around to look at this scene with apathetic and distant eyes. No longer interested in the fight, he clutched Badger by the neck.

"Where's the money?" Badger, one of the most feared men in this part of the city was now a crying mess.

"P-please don't kill me!" Naos faced the man who had been so confident before. After all, any man would be fearing for his life after having his arm cut in half.

"Then tell me where the money is." Badger instantly spilled the beans, telling Naos exactly where to go down to the measurements.

Naos nodded before grabbing Badger's head with the other hand and swiftly twisting. A crack was heard before silence overtook the room.

Naos stared at the ceiling while reflecting on the fight. 4 got away, 27 unconscious, 2 dead. The man that had been used as a club had succumbed to his injuries while Naos was dealing with Badger.

I got the location of the money and my deal with Curtis is nearly over. Naos replayed the last words of Badger in his mind, following them to the letter. It led him to a large safe. Naos used the correct code and unlocked the safe.

The amount of money was so large, that even Naos had rarely seen so many zeroes in the same place. Bagging all of it, Naos left the building in shambles, taking his time to get back to the motel.

He was overall pretty satisfied with how the raid had gone. He was even more excited at the thought that Badger had supernatural powers just like Grant had.
