Chapter 166: Debt

Harborview City.

Security Officer Reed slowly opened his eyes. He instinctively reached for his phone to check the time but realized he couldn't move.

To his shock, he found his hands tied behind his back.

He was sitting in a wooden chair, his feet bound to the legs. A bright lamp hung overhead, casting a long shadow.

Reed struggled, trying to shout in fear, but something was stuffed in his mouth. All he could manage was a muffled "ummmahah."

"Stop shouting," an impatient voice came from the darkness.

A tall man stepped forward, one eye hanging arrogantly from his mouth. He toyed with a shiny knife, its serrated blade glinting in the light.

A chill ran down Reed's spine. He shrank back uneasily, the chair creaking under him.

"Who are you? What do you want?"

"Me? I'm here to collect debts," the man said with a smile.

Reed shuddered.

Debt collection? What debt could he owe if he was beaten by the magistrate?

"Let's stop talking nonsense," said a voice from the other side.

A woman stepped out, her skin pale and smooth. She had a snake-like tattoo on her round arms, and her figure was stunning.

Reed quickly recognized the tattoo style, recalling something from the past. But when he looked at her striking features, he suddenly remembered.

"Green Snake!" Reed exclaimed. "You're the Green Snake from Black Sun!"

The Police Department had been terrorized by Black Sun not long ago, causing chaos. Intelligence reports indicated that President Gong, one of the city's biggest tycoons, was now a target on Black Sun's death list, forcing the Police Department to mobilize.

During that time, Harborview City's police officers had to learn about several top killers in the Black Sun organization. While he forgot most of the others, Reed remembered the Green Snake clearly.

"She's just too... impressive," he thought.

The man flicked his knife. "Is my wife good-looking?"

"Pretty... umm..." Reed quickly retracted his gaze. "I mean the tattoo looks nice..."

Despite being in cahoots with criminals, he had to be cautious. For his little brother's safety, he had to look away.

Now he recalled that this man was called Black Eagle. The name was easy to remember, but his appearance was nothing special.

Reed broke into a cold sweat. He vaguely remembered that this couple was top-tier in the underworld, characters who ranked high on the global killer list. They wouldn't bother with jobs that weren't worth their time, no matter the price.

Why would such dangerous people mess with him?

"Poisonous Bee," Black Eagle said. "Does that name ring a bell?"

Suddenly, it clicked for Reed.

Did they come here seeking revenge for their brother?

He nodded, realizing it was true. The entire Police Department had been on high alert for that killer from Black Sun. It was impossible not to know that name.

"Are you... friends?" Reed asked cautiously.

"Exactly," Black Eagle said. "Who took him down? I want a name."

Reed gritted his teeth. "Do you think I would betray my colleagues like that? Don't underestimate the Harborview Sheriff, you bastard..."

With a swift movement, Black Eagle slammed the knife into the chair between Reed's legs. If it hadn't been for Brother Killer's wife being so impressive, Reed might have faced dire consequences.

Reed began to sweat profusely.

"Don't... please, let's talk!" He was sweating bullets. "It's Director Li! The new Director Li Shou of the Police Department!"

Reflecting on it, Reed realized he wasn't very familiar with the new chief, who had once scolded him for being late. However, his little brother would be useful in the future, so he chose to betray his teammate.

In truth, Reed didn't know the whole story. The entire Police Department only knew that Poisonous Bee had been captured shortly after arriving in Harborview City.

The results were encouraging. President Gong was thrilled that the killer crisis was temporarily resolved and donated a hefty sum to the Police Department.

This also made Director Li an instant hero. His first battle won after taking office was highly influential, and the department held a small celebration for him. Rumors spread that the mayor might even invite Director Li to an upcoming event to personally present him with an award.

His name became well-known, and the credit for capturing the killer was largely attributed to him, so everyone believed he was the one who took him down.

"Oh? He's impressive?"

"That's true. He was in the army. I heard he participated in a special project aimed at training the most elite fighters. Everyone in that program had to be the best of the best."

No one knew exactly what happened during that time, but something must have occurred that led to his transfer to the Police Department. He became the youngest director in Harborview City. When he took over, he publicly stated his goal was to revitalize the city.

The days of unchecked killers were over; it was time for justice to reclaim the streets...

...Wait, don't get too excited, he said all that! If you don't believe me, just look up his speech."

Feeling that things were about to escalate, Reed struggled on the chair, his face practically screaming "help me."

Black Eagle and his wife exchanged knowing glances, joy lighting up their faces as they smiled at each other.

"Oh~ Sure enough," Black Eagle chuckled softly. "I thought the Police Department in Harborview City was full of weak, incompetent people like you—no offense, just stating the facts. It's hard to believe a seasoned killer like Poisonous Bee could fall into your hands. I knew something was off.

But if someone with the same experience and top skills is leading the team..."

They were now confident they'd found the right target.

"Very good," Black Eagle said with a grin. "Then I'd like you to send a message to your director... he's finished."

"Ah-choo!"

Director Hero Li Shou sat at his desk in the Police Department and suddenly sneezed.

Rubbing his nose, he glanced outside at the dimming sky, feeling an ominous premonition for no apparent reason...
