Chapter 178: Boss Fight 2nd Phase

Oops.

As soon as this thought crossed his mind, Li Changcheng quickly pulled back and dodged. But even though he reacted fast, he had already missed the best moment, and it was too late. He barely managed to avoid the vital points, and at the same time, the Tis Shield defense immediately oozed from his body—though it wasn't very effective.

Even the defense-formed Tis shield couldn't withstand Wolverine's sharp claws, let alone a hasty release or a form that wasn't fully formed. Edman's alloy bone claws sliced through the black shield like butter, tearing into Li Changcheng's body without hesitation, and blood sprayed out.

Li Changcheng's eyes widened, still in disbelief over the scene before him.

What about that claw? His invincible Tis shield is so weak against it?

Doesn't this mean that it can even harm a great ancient being?

Just thinking about it felt outrageously absurd. Shocked, he felt the pain from the sharp claws fade away. At that moment, looking at the man before him, he felt as if he was seeing a ghost.

Moreover, he was convinced that based on the feedback from the cut, the sword he swung must have gone quite deep, probably even touching bone.

However, when the sword formed by the Tis shield was pulled from the man's neck, Li Changcheng clearly saw that even though the stranger should have been bleeding heavily, this man appeared completely normal.

It was clearly a wound that went deep into the bone, yet it almost healed as soon as the sword was withdrawn. When the blade was finally pulled from his neck, Li Changcheng caught only a glimpse of a shallow cut before it disappeared in an instant.

This shocked Li Changcheng once again.

What is this self-healing speed?

The knife went into the bone; technically, half of the man's head had been cut off. As a result, if he had pulled the knife a bit slower, he wouldn't have even seen the wound. This kind of monster-level self-healing ability was simply unheard of, and even the most outrageous infected beings fell far short of this speed.

No, it was more than that. Not only did this person heal fast, but his durability was out of the question. Theoretically, the sword transformed into Tisdun should cut through anything, but it got stuck against this guy's neck.

Is this dude reinforced and tough-skinned?

No, even steel and iron should be cut open; I've never heard of anything so outrageous...

After a few tricks, he quickly discovered that while Wolverine's main features are his indestructible claws and incredible durability, he doesn't solely rely on these for combat. He is skilled in fighting and has spent much of his long life learning martial arts and techniques from around the world, particularly island ninjutsu. Although he may not be as skilled as some of the fighting monsters among Marvel's heroes, it's fair to say he is a martial arts master.

At the same time, he possesses a "beast sense," similar to Spider Man's spider sense. While it can't match the unpredictability and semi-predictive nature of Spider-Man's ability, it does give Wolverine extraordinary reflexes and speed. Many times, Wolverine takes damage because he is positioned as a tank, and while he doesn't bleed when hit, he can't avoid many attacks.

He also has super strength. Wolverine's strength is definitely superhuman; an ordinary person couldn't even stand up with an Adamantium alloy skeleton. For Wolverine, the weight is inconsequential.

The combination of all his abilities makes him an unbeatable berserker. So even if you remove his Adamantium skeleton and super healing, Wolverine is still a top-tier fighter. For his enemies, facing him is like battling an undefeated force.

The automatic defense of the Tis Shield is almost useless against Wolverine's Adamantium claws. Li Changcheng fought back fiercely, but all attacks that might hinder him were marked with red warnings on Chu Cheng's screen, allowing Wolverine to escape using his superhuman physique. As for the remaining attacks that weren't marked in red, Chu Cheng simply ignored them and engaged in a tie-for-tat exchange.

This has always been Wolverine's fighting strategy. Whether he injures the enemy 1,000 times or loses 800, for him, as long as he's outputting damage, even if he hurts the enemy 800 and suffers 10,000 in damage, he still considers it a win.

Unlimited health allows for such reckless play. As Wolverine's metal claws tore into him again, blood spattering, Li Changcheng had lost his previous composure and wore a serious expression.

He realized he had underestimated his opponent. His confidence in the power he gained from extraordinary sources and in the Tis Shield had inflated him for a moment, but now he recognized the true threat. The organization behind these superheroes should not be taken lightly, and the constant stream of new heroes with their increasingly bizarre abilities is genuinely concerning.

Although it differed from the original plan and wasn't supposed to happen at this time, it seemed there was no other choice. If this continued, it would be hard for him to escape this situation, and he was about to be torn apart by this beast-like man with his bare hands.

Li Changcheng narrowed his eyes. The plan moved directly to the next stage. This was also the final stage.

Wolverine stepped forward, swinging his claws to pursue, but suddenly felt his body freeze, as if his legs were stuck in place. Upon closer inspection, he realized a claw had shot up from the ground beneath him, grabbing his ankle and stopping his movements.

In the next moment, the Tis shield struck his body head-on like a spear. This blow was precise; it pierced his heart, launching his body into the air and nailing him to the wall behind him.

If it had been an ordinary person, their heart would have been shattered, and they could have been buried right there. But Wolverine only let out a muffled grunt. Then a quick-time event popped up on Chu Cheng's screen. He swung his claws, cutting off the spear that had impaled him, and with a surge of strength, he broke free. The bloody hole in his heart healed in an instant.

Though he seemed pinned to the ground, his health bar was full again in the blink of an eye. To him, it was just a slightly bigger scratch.

At that moment, through Wolverine's perspective, Chu Cheng clearly saw what had snuck up on him. The first thing to emerge from the ground was a black, withered hand. Then the ground loosened and cracked, and with a crack, a dark figure rose from below.

It was a ghoul.

It looked exactly like the ones he had encountered in the underground ruins before. Soon, more parts of the ground cracked open, and more hands emerged, as if zombies were crawling out of their graves. A swarm of ghouls rose up from nowhere, quickly filling the entire square.

Chu Cheng understood.

Wow, the second stage of the classic boss battle—summoning minions, right? Chu Cheng had seen a lot of similar routines in games. In some games, the minions summoned by the boss were incredibly annoying. There were too many of them with control abilities, making it difficult for players to lock onto their target.

A little cumbersome, but not a big deal. Chu Cheng had some experience handling this situation; it was just a matter of spending a little more time. Actually, he could invite other heroes to help. At most, it was just a little extra effort, and it wasn't a big problem.

At that moment, there was a whoosh sound as the rocket launched with its tail flame, shooting diagonally into the group of ghouls. The flame exploded, and the scorching impact knocked the ghoul off his back.

Following that was a rain of bullets; countless rounds poured into the crowd like a barrage.

When Chu Cheng turned his head, he saw that Luo Yajun and Miss Sonar had both landed, and a heavily armed team followed behind them.

"You guys just love to steal all the limelight for yourselves." Luo Yajun stepped forward immediately, smoking a cigarette, and smiled, "But not this time."
