At this moment, Jun Wu Xiao was on his way back to the town. Previously, due to traveling with Chu Wu's army, it had taken him more than a week, but now, traveling alone and requiring little rest, it took him only about two days to reach his destination.
Looking at the deserted town before him, Jun Wu Xiao reminisced about the past when, although not crowded, it was much livelier than now.
He walked towards his old house, and as he looked at the old building that had been his home for decades, memories of his early days of cultivation flooded his mind.
He couldn't remember much about the time before that because, to him, that period wasn't memorable, except for the knowledge he had acquired during that time.
"I must leave, no matter what. Although I am lazy to move, I have no choice. I have a long life ahead, and living in one place makes it easy for ordinary people to discover and bother me. Thus, I can only choose to live in the mountains." Jun Wu Xiao mused unintentionally.
Suddenly, his eyes sparkled with an idea:
"Yes, the mountains. I can live in the mountains. But, are there any tall mountains nearby?"
As Jun Wu Xiao pondered this, he turned around to look in all directions and caught sight of a mountain range in the distance. It was called the Kunlun Mountains, a majestic range that stretched for thousands of miles.
He felt he had found the right place and joyfully said:
"The Kunlun Mountains is vast, and its tallest peak must be over six thousand meters high. It's difficult for ordinary people to climb, but since it's the tallest, it's very noticeable. Therefore, I should choose a less noticeable peak."
Then, he used his full speed to run toward the Kunlun Mountains, and after a week, he finally reached the foot of a mountain in the mountains.
Looking up at the high peaks, covered in white snow, Jun Wu Xiao looked from top to bottom, then from bottom to top.
"How strange, why is there no snow at the foot of the mountain but snow on the peaks?" Jun Wu Xiao asked, filled with curiosity.
After a moment, he decided to explore:
"Anyway, I'm going to live here, so it doesn't hurt to find out a bit. For now, let's head straight up to one of the snowy peaks to see why there's such a strange phenomenon."
Then, he quickly ran up the mountain, moving swiftly even while climbing. After a while, he had ascended quite high when he suddenly stopped.
"How odd, why do I feel so short of breath?" Jun Wu Xiao wondered.
But still not coming to any conclusion, he decided to continue climbing. After a while, he finally understood the issue. He said:
"So that's it. When breathing, one needs air, but as one climbs higher, it becomes harder to breathe. This means the air gets thinner the higher up you go. As for the temperature, I understand now, in the higher place, the temperature drops, which is why high mountains often have snow."
Then, he wanted to climb to the peak to see what the view from above would be like. After some time, he had climbed to the peak, which was covered entirely in snow.
Jun Wu Xiao stood on the peak, turning his head to look down upon the world. The view before him was truly magnificent. There were many smaller mountains, rivers, and dense forests. It was the most beautiful landscape he had ever seen since he was born.
"The view from here is really great. But for now, I should not stay here forever. Perhaps after breaking through a few more times, I can comfortably live here." Jun Wu Xiao said.
He was not wrong. If he lived here, he would not only struggle to breathe but also have to expend energy to withstand the cold. This would decrease the efficiency of his cultivation, which he did not want at all.
Afterward, he quickly climbed down to a lower location, observing his surroundings as he moved. He thought:
"Now, I need to find a suitable mountain first. After all, I have to choose one that attracts the least attention and is the hardest to reach. Only then will it be difficult for others to come and disturb me."
Then, he started his search, spending days until he finally found a mountain that satisfied him. Looking around, Jun Wu Xiao said contentedly:
"This place is also close to a water source, and there are many types of plants I can eat, making it an ideal place for cultivation."
After saying that, he began looking for a place to rest. After some searching, he found a cave that was quite clean, which made him suspicious.
"How strange, why is this cave so clean? Could it be my luck, or is someone living here? Never mind, I hope it's just my luck. I don't want to leave." Jun Wu Xiao muttered.
Then he went inside the cave, finding a flat rock surface suitable to be his bed. He placed his belongings in a corner, lay down on the rock, and went to sleep. After all, searching continuously for days had made him feel quite tired. He wanted to rest first and then continue his cultivation.
He didn't sleep long, just about six hours. After waking up, he felt much better, he said:
"Now I feel less tired. Time to find something to eat."
Then he started to gather dry wood and leaves. A while later, he had collected a bunch of dry wood and a pile of leaves.
Looking at what he had found, Jun Wu Xiao said contentedly:
"Not bad, not bad. Anyway, my current food needs are quite low. This place will be enough for me to eat for a few days, and this amount of dry wood should last for a long time. Now, I just need to cook these leaves and eat them gradually."
After that, he began to make a simple fire-starting tool and started the fire. The method he used was to generate fire through friction.
A small, thin stick was rapidly rotated between his hands on another piece of wood or wood slot. This slot had a small hole in the middle where the stick was placed. Below this hole, a small piece of wood was placed to catch the hot sawdust generated from the friction. As the stick was rotated quickly, friction generated heat, causing the sawdust to melt and start burning. Jun Wu Xiao gently blew into the sawdust to encourage the flames to flare up.
Now that he finally had a fire, he slightly roasted the leaves over the fire before starting to eat. He did this because he felt the leaves were a bit dirty, and simply burning them would clean them. Whether or not they were actually clean didn't matter as long as he felt they were clean.
Even though in reality, what he did was a bit foolish, his body can even comfortably digest tree bark, leaves, or other plants as long as they're not poisonous.
Moreover, he ate not because he needed nutrition but to prevent his stomach from damaging itself because there was nothing in his stomach, but he didn't know this.
"After eating, it's time to start cultivating." Jun Wu Xiao said, then he extinguished the fire and began his cultivation practice.
