Chapter 3: A Medical Grandmaster, A Needle Decides Life and Death_1

"You wanna die, do it alone, don't drag me into it!"

Director Liu screamed, his face turning pale with fright.

He didn't understand acupuncture performed in midair, but he knew the stakes of this inspection were high!

If anything untoward happened in his department...

he could kiss his director's position goodbye!

"Get your daughter and get the hell out of here. If you want treatment, go elsewhere, but don't cause trouble in our hospital!"

Director Liu yelled, trying to pull Su Yi away forcefully.

But Su Yi was no longer the man he used to be, his body immovable, his gaze constantly fixed on his daughter's condition.

With his free hand, he once again picked up a silver needle.

Director Liu gnashed his teeth in anger, "Are you fucking deaf?!"

"I'm warning you, your daughter is about to die!"

"Go ahead and prepare for your daughter's funeral, stop struggling!"

Song Renxin shouted sternly, "Director Liu, as long as the patient has a breath left, we can't give up!"

"Besides, Mr. Su is skilled in midair acupuncture, why not let him try?!"

Director Liu's face turned cold, "Song Renxin, are you the director or am I?"

"Also, why have I never heard of midair acupuncture?"

"Don't fucking make up terms to fool me!"

Song Renxin was so angry he silently gritted his teeth.

You're really a tyrant, aren't you?

Midair acupuncture is one of the highest attainments in traditional Chinese medicine.

In the whole country, there probably aren't more than twenty who can do it effectively.

And each one is a national treasure of a doctor!

But... an official rank higher crushes the person below!

Despite his title as director, Song Renxin truly had no way to deal with him.

At that moment, a nurse rushed in: "Director Liu, the Hospital President and Professor Li have arrived."

"They've already visited the internal medicine and surgery departments; next up is our neurology department."

What?!

Director Liu's face turned pale again.

He couldn't delay any longer.

He had to get rid of them as quickly as possible!

Even if it took extreme measures, it would be worth it!

As long as he got through this inspection smoothly, he could use his position to suppress any issues that arose afterward.

"Fine, I got it."

Director Liu sent the nurse away, his expression darkening as he glanced at Su Yi and gritted his teeth.

"You won't leave, is that it? Then don't blame me for throwing your daughter out!"

In his desperation to keep his position, Director Liu let go of Su Yi's wrist and moved to pick up Su Xiaoxiao.

"You fucking stop right there!"

Su Yi's expression hardened, and before he could act, Song Renxin let out a roar of rage.

The senior doctor, over sixty years old, rushed forward, grabbing Director Liu from behind.

He yelled at Su Yi, "Mr. Su, go ahead with the acupuncture, I'll stop him!"

"Thank you!"

Su Yi nodded appreciatively, quickly focusing his mind, his hand flicking out the silver needle again.

He concentrated intently, his hands fluttering like butterflies, continuously drawing out needles and piercing the air to hit the acupuncture points on his daughter.

Fluid and graceful, achieving harmony in a single breath of work!

Though it was his first time administering the needles in such a way, it appeared as if he had practiced countless times.

Director Liu's face twisted in ugly frustration, struggling ceaselessly: "Song Renxin, are you fucking rebelling?!"

Song Renxin cursed back, "You bastard! You bastard!! You bastard!!!"

Director Liu was taken aback by the rebuke.

Right then, a furious shout came from outside the door: "What the hell is going on here?!"

"We can hear the lot of you cursing from the hallway, what kind of behavior is this?!"

Hearing this, Director Liu shivered and dared not struggle anymore.

Song Renxin also released him without delay, hastily turning his attention to Su Yi.

"Mr. Su, is everything going smoothly?"

"Hmm."

Su Yi nodded without saying much else.

The treatment was already underway, and he couldn't afford any distractions that might cause complications.

He continued his actions without pause, administering more midair acupuncture.

Meanwhile, two men, both over sixty, entered from outside.

It was the Hospital President and Professor Li.

As they entered, ready to scold, their eyes caught sight of Su Yi's movements.

Suddenly, they both trembled.

"Is this… needle throwing?!"

The director was utterly shocked, unable to believe his eyes, and subconsciously glanced at Professor Li beside him.

Professor Li was the honorary dean of the Medical Academy, and could be regarded as one of the medical community's authoritative figures.

He stared intently at Su Yi and said in a deep voice, "Indeed, it is needle throwing!"

"However… these movements as smooth as flowing clouds and water, the effortless flick of the wrist, I have never seen before!"

"This is definitely a Grandmaster of medicine!"

How could this be?!

One stone stirred up a thousand ripples.

The whole room was in an uproar.

No one expected Professor Li's evaluation of Su Yi to be so high!

A Grandmaster of medicine!

Throughout the entire country, those who could bear this title were no more than a handful!

Even Professor Li himself fell just short of the mark!

Director Liu couldn't help but tremble, his forehead bead with cold sweat as it soaked through his clothes.

Seeing this, Song Renxin sneered, "Director Liu, why are you so nervous?"

"I... I, why would I be nervous?"

Director Liu argued stiffly, but his words lacked conviction.

Song Renxin feigned curiosity, "Wasn't it you just now who wanted to stop Mister Su, this Grandmaster of medicine, from administering the needle to save someone?"

He emphasized the word "Grandmaster" particularly heavily.

"You you… You're talking nonsense!"

Director Liu argued vehemently, his face flushed and his neck thickening.

Their exchange naturally didn't escape the ears of the director and Professor Li.

"Right, I haven't asked yet, what exactly happened just now?"

The director said with a grim expression.

In front of a Grandmaster of medicine, people in his hospital actually came to blows.

This was truly a disgrace!

Professor Li looked at Director Liu, his brows deeply furrowed: "I heard... you wanted to stop this Grandmaster from saving a life?"

His words were not harsh, but they made Director Liu sweat profusely, his expression one of panic.

This man was the honorary dean of the Medical Academy, whose word alone could determine the life or death of his directorship.

"It was… it was like this…"

"Right, it was this little girl patient, her cerebral nerve tumor had worsened to the point where even surgery couldn't save her."

"But this patient's family member insisted on administering the needle himself. He's not a doctor, so of course I couldn't let him do it."

Director Liu's tone was frantic, but at least it seemed he had found a somewhat decent excuse.

He sighed in relief as if a great burden had been lifted, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

Song Renxin sneered, "Director Liu, we really shouldn't lie with our eyes wide open."

"Since you won't tell the truth, then I'll just have to lay it all out."

Director Liu shuddered all over, shouting out loud to interrupt, "Song Renxin, you're just trying to slander me maliciously!"

"Fine, you say I am slandering you, so I won't speak anymore. However, don't forget, Mister Su is still in the ward!"

Song Renxin sneered coldly and truly said nothing more.

Director Liu's heart trembled, uneasy and unsettled, casting glances at Su Yi from time to time.

He wondered how he was going to deal with what was to come.

The director and Professor Li looked at each other and nodded in agreement.

Well then, they would delve into this matter after the treatment was finished.

Once again, they turned their attention to Su Yi.

The director let out a sigh, "It's a pity, this Grandmaster of medicine does not belong to our hospital!"

Professor Li chuckled, "True talents are hidden among the common folk, the greatest figures are the most unassuming. Perhaps Mister Su comes from an old master."

At this moment, the treatment had reached its most critical stage.

Su Yi's hands moved faster and faster.

In the end, they blurred into afterimages!

One needle after another was thrown precisely, and just as many were pulled out, to be inserted into other acupoints.

Dazzling to behold, impossible to follow closely.

Faintly, there was a mysterious significance contained within.

Song Renxin watched Su Yi intently, as if he had realized something, yet he always lacked that final bit.

The director felt the same way.

As for Professor Li, with a deeper understanding of medicine, he could appreciate the subtleties even more, his eyes growing increasingly shocked.

Only Director Liu was anxious and restless, completely at a loss.

Finally!

Su Yi's last needle fell!

The astonishment in Professor Li's eyes had reached an indescribable extreme; he couldn't help but exclaim aloud.

"One needle decides life and death!"
