Maybe I could try

"You should be lucky you have been matched with a perfect match. Some vampires and demons are still looking for the one person they can spend their entire lives with," said Lise.

I sighed but pushed down the small sense of guilt. Lise, as always, was right. I glanced over at my friend , who was silently watching me. There was a slight sense of envy on Lise's face.

I stood to my full height and turned back to stare out at the beautiful landscape before us.

"I know I sound ungrateful, but I have a lot of work to attend to with the rogues demons conspiring against us, the human protestors, and protecting all who are loyal to the demon nation. Where does that leave room for a perfect match?"

"You will make time," Lise replied with a shrug, as if the notion was very simple. It was much easier said than done.
