Go get your girl

The woman in front of me was talking incessantly, her voice a dull drone that seemed to blend into the background noise of the ballroom. She had introduced herself as Lady Felicity, a noblewoman from a neighboring kingdom.

Felicity was petite, with a cascade of blonde curls that framed her delicate face. Her dress was an elaborate confection of pale blue silk, adorned with intricate lace and pearls. She batted her eyelashes at me, clearly trying to flirt, but her attempts fell flat.

"Your suit is simply divine," Felicity gushed, her eyes lingering on my shoulders. "You must tell me where you had it tailored. I simply must get something similar for my brother."

I forced a smile, nodding politely. "Thank you, Lady Felicity. It was tailored by the finest craftsmen in the demon realm."

"Oh, the demon realm!" she exclaimed, her eyes widening with feigned interest. "How exotic! You must have so many fascinating stories to tell."
