Rye knew the exact moment his gaze slid down her face to her chest, as he leaned closer until she could feel his breath on her neck.

Hot and steamy sending shivers down her spine as she felt him lean his muscles against her bosom.

“You want me! You can deny it but I can feel it through the bond we share,”

“Klas!” Rye gasped pushing against him with her eyes closed.

Her eyes snaped open, shocked to feel him pull away something she was convinced he would never do.

“FINE!” His deep voice echoing through the desolate mansion they stood in, after he sent all the servants off.

“I’ll give you five seconds to leave Rye. After that, if you’re still here, I’ll make you regret ever pushing me away.”

“Wha-what?”

“Two…”

Rye knew she should leave. Sleeping with Klas was something she had sworn never to do. They were just using each other. She needed his blood, and he needed her to remove the chains that bound his powers.

Yet, the pleasure that thrummed through her body when he had kissed her was unforgettable.

In a panic, Rye finally found the strength to move but by then it was already too late and she saw it in his eyes just as she moved to walk past him.

Rye had no idea when the plan changed and less how to adjust to it.

Rye was just as surprised when. The carriage stopped. All she wanted was to reach the temple which was why even after the carriage stopped, instead of getting out, she waited for the driver to knock on the door and speak to her instead.

"Miss! A royal messenger is here!" The driver announced and Rye's mouth dropped open in shock.

The fact that she was in the carriage meant that there was nowhere to hide.

"What could the Royal messenger want with me?" Rye immediately asked only to hear the door to her left slowly move open to reveal a man exquisitely dressed.

He had red eyes and even his demeanor screamed prim.

"Apprentice Rye! Prince Argo sent me to get you at the temple but I was told that you'd give to see your bond!"

"I saw your carriage and thought it might be you so I consider myself truly lucky to not have to go back empty-handed!"
