"Hardt, go do some shopping. Foodstuffs here is low and we need some junks too." Gallegos said to Sheriff's hearing. Some money was given to him and he went out.
Sheriff handpicked two other detectives with Prastina and Cameron. "We are going to check on the only victim that is in one piece for any other clues." Faulkner nodded and volunteered to go with them.
Prastina and Cameron's eyes met in two seconds. Cameron scoffed and looked away while Prastina tucked her hair behind her ears annoyed.
AUTOPSY ROOM 1©âœ"
They were all on lab coats with face masks and gloves. Aside from being detectives, they handle autopsies themselves except from the fact that their chief commander is a doctor. Everyone wonders how the hell he went to school to study, became a police officer and a doctor too, at the same time.
Sheriff opened the zip of the cellophane bag and a woman's body came to view. Prastina noticed Cameron's fist tighten beside her and she looked at him.
"The bite looks too deep to be an ordinary human teeth." Sheriff began.
"The size and structure of the bite doesn't match with any of the types of human teeth too." Faulkner added.
"Which means the bite isn't from a human but something else." Prastina pointed out the obvious.
"Checking the ripping of the stomach to the heart..." Sheriff continued.
"It doesn't have any match with that of human nails because the marks are larger and the depth is more than a normal human could sink in." The more Cameron listened to them, the more he got angry at whatever this brutal killed his mother.
Until Prastina tapped his fisted hands, Cameron didn't know he was being called.
"Rutten!!" Sheriff yelled. "You are spacing out, not when you are needed please." He added frustratingly.
"The intestines weren't removed so the one who killed this woman didn't kill her to be eaten." Sheriff drawled.
Cameron tried to control his anger while Prastina kept glancing at him, she was worried.
"There's an emergency sir!" Gallegos ran inside without knocking.
The call was received. "911, what's your emergency?" Prastina took the call as she glanced at everyone. Who the hell has an emergency at 8am in the morning?
"The mall...it's been raided!" The familiar voice sounded so scared.
"Hardt? Hardt!!" Faulkner shouted back surprisingly.
"What the hell is happening there?" Sheriff asked. The line was breaking, noises in the background like people were screaming.
Faulkner was already out of the door with the others following him, it was only Cameron remaining in the room. "Mama...." He whispered, walking around his dead mother that was laid. She is already embalmed, her body was looking white. Her bit neck, ripped stomach and heart broke his heart. Looking at it made him angrier.
"I will kill it!" He muttered with vengeance.
AT THE MALL ©âœ"
"Hardt, stay on the line." Faulkner shouted.
All of them came down from their bullion van and rushed into the mall.
"Why does it suddenly look deserted?" Sheriff asked. They all walked section by section, all at alert in case anything happens.
Faulkner placed the phone over his ear, "Where are you Hardt? Or are we in the wrong mall?" He asked, looking around.
"Jesus Christ!!" Gallegos held his chest. He just stepped on a person's dismantled arm.
"Whatever it is that did this, is still here." Prastina whispered. Blood trails were splattered all over the ground.
To the junk section, "Shit!" Faulkner pocketed the phone.
Hardt was on the floor, whimpering lowly. A gash on his stomach, a very deep one.
"He is bleeding out." Prastina tore the hem of her inner blouse and wrapped it around the wound.
"Who did this?" Sheriff asked and Hardt started sobbing.
"The question is what did this and the answer....." He hiccuped tears, "....is right behind you." They all turned back slowly when he completed his statement. Its eyes were as big as the lid of a drum set, it was huge. It looked like the stature of an Alpha werewolf.
"It's a Hyde!" Prastina whispered, backing out. It growled, picked Sheriff and threw him across, landing him somewhere no one has an idea of. They began to fire their guns at the creature.
Prastina assisted Hardt up and together, they began to limp towards the second exit.
Before they knew it, Faulkner was down.
"This is Prastina. There is a bad situation right here and we need help." Prastina shouted over the phone, hoping there was a signal so someone at the office would hear her.
In another ten seconds, Cameron was already running towards her with an open roof car.
"Everyone, stay at least 5metres away." Cameron yelled. He didn't care if they adhered or not, he fired an ammo at the creature. It hit it right on the belly. The painful roar echoed in the entire neighborhood. Before it could regain its composure, Cameron fired another one and it landed in the middle of the neck this time.
Hyde was angry, its eyes bulged out even more. It ran towards them furiously,
"The fucking ammo, Mikael!" Prastina shouted fearfully. Cameron tried to load the ammo but it just suddenly stopped working. Having no other choice, he jumped out of the car. Prastina didn't know when he disappeared.
Cameron ran across the Hyde, distracting it from the others. The Hyde ran after him in leaps.
"It's fucking loaded. Make it visible." Prastina shouted with all her might, fixing the gun back and loading it with two ammo's at once.
"This has to kill it or we are all dead." Prastina whimpered, making sure the gun didn't stop working again.
Its hand almost gripped Cameron but he avoided it narrowly. He ran towards Prastina, bringing the animal monster closer. Just as the monster came closer, its claws slashed Cameron's chest and he groaned in pain. The moment Cameron dashed towards another area, Prastina fired the ammo.
The neck was separated from its body immediately. Prastina rushed towards Cameron. "Are you okay?" She asked, opening his shirt.
"I'm fine." He covered his chest.
Her eyes widened out of fear and confusion. His chest was clean, his skin was normal like they haven't encountered any wound at all. She could swear on her life that she saw the monster slash his chest through the shirt. The torn shirt and blood is an evidence but there was no cut there at all, not even the tiniest one.
