A Surprise in the Night

In the light rain, Count Roger, leader of the area opposite Damian's territory, watched the demons with a chilling coldness coursing through his steely resolve. His armor glowed with a faint light from the moon, showcasing its excellent quality. His sword, made of a magical metal, was extremely light yet perfect for cutting through demons.

"If we want to reestablish communication with the Storm Mage's territory, we need to eliminate these orcs." Despite being a low-ranking baron, Roger had unified most of the mercenary groups to fight the demons. Many called him the "God of the Hammer" due to his brutality on the battlefield.

"Are the orcs on guard?"

"In fact, the orcs are not well prepared. The main army has launched a surprise attack."

Roger knew there was no time to waste and ordered his 25,000 men to attack.

Upon hearing the order, the soldiers rushed out. Roger's eyes gleamed. He led the soldiers down the path, eyeing his objective in this nighttime battle.

As the commander of a legion, Roger bore immense pressure.

He carried the safety of a province on his shoulders, and every decision affected countless lives.

If this battle failed, this river territory would again fall into the hands of the demons.

If the orc army was allowed to enter this rich zone, the entire outbreak would be in great danger due to the resources hidden here.

The chain of command didn't care, safely ensconced within magical barriers, but all the soldiers knew that if they let the demons gain power, they wouldn't stand a chance in the long run.

Roger walked, awaiting information from the front.

The dark, rainy night was the perfect cover for a cavalry raid. The sound of raindrops masked the thunder of horse hooves.

The mist rising from the rain over the mountains also obscured the orcs' vision, allowing the cavalry to launch a surprise attack from closer range.

In the dark, rainy night, Roger, the commander of the mercenaries, rode a giant goat, his majestic body among the fiercest on the front line.

As the cavalry commander in this battle, Roger felt his blood boil.

"In this battle, Roger's name will definitely resonate throughout the North and be written in the history books." Roger shouted furiously, ordering, "Follow me to the battlefield, and may the holy souls of those who die rest in peace. Let's kill these demon sons of the war god."

Roger was a demon on the battlefield; his strength was respected even by the demons themselves.

Boom!

Within minutes, attacking from an unexpected direction, Roger shattered the entrance of the orc fortress. Once inside, the ensuing massacre was a true victory for humanity.

Even the demon commander never expected the Northern Army to attack in such horrible weather.

Undoubtedly, there were great humans who were powerful and made honorable decisions. That night, Roger became known as the "Hammer of the Orc and Demon Demolisher."

The demons he killed that night were countless, even for Roger himself, who had survived.

Atop a tower, Damian and Frieren were meditating. Controlling the mana in one's body was essential to maintain at all times and in every situation.

As they trained, the Divine General protected them.

"Are you sure you don't want to sleep?"

"It's not necessary."

"It's cold. We could share warmth and sleep late." Damian hadn't detected any demons nearby, so he could sleep whenever he wanted.

Frieren opened her eyes. She saw no problem and said, "Just don't wake me if the city is attacked; you handle it."

"Then let's get out of here. I'm freezing," said Damian, who, after training, just wanted to sleep.
