The Morning of Revelations

The morning sunlight streamed into the Feng family dining room, the golden rays glinting off the pristine white tablecloth and polished silverware. The faint hum of idle conversation filled the air, but the tension from the previous evening's dramatic events lingered like a ghost, unspoken but palpable.

Feng Zhengzhi, seated at the head of the table, sipped his tea in silence, his sharp eyes surveying his family. Feng Zhaoxuan sat on his right, his posture stiff, while Qiao Yingyao, poised and watchful, occupied the seat beside him. Across from them, Feng Guiren and Zhang Lihua whispered to each other, their voices low but tinged with suspicion. Their daughters—Feng Meiling, Feng Xiuying, and Feng Airi—sat further down, exchanging glances that carried the weight of unspoken schemes.

The conversation was subdued, each person lost in their own thoughts, when the door opened, and Feng Jinhai walked in.
