[It means whatever technique or battle art you used in the first trial, it won't work in the next trial.

They would easily shrug it off like nothing and would prepare a perfect counterattack for that, whether it is in changing their form or employing the techniques.

In short, it means those abilities will be useless when faced with them next time, no matter how much you try to get smart about it.

Essentially, you would be unable to use those techniques again with them.
