Game

"Are you ready to play a game?"

Silence was the only answer to Manager's teasing words. The people that remained all looked at her with tense expressions.

They were; a family of five with two daughters and a boy, an Asian couple, a young woman with slightly above average looks in a business suit, an incredibly beautiful woman in red cocktail dress, a middle-aged man in white robes with a cross necklace on his neck, the burly man who had spoken earlier, a teenage girl with soft features in her school clothes, a dark skinned woman sporting a sports bra and tights, a thin man with glasses on his face,a young man with sunglasses on his face and golden hair, two teenage boys hugging each other in school clothes, an incredibly handsome man in a suit, the man who had been strangled earlier and... a young man in a straight jacket.

The people in the room could not help staring at the man in a straight jacket, despite his.... predicament, he had a smile on his face as if something very amusing was happening. The fact that no one had noticed him given his present circumstances or eye-catching looks was abnormal causing the other nineteen people to look at him with varying expressions of interest and wariness.

"Miss.... Manager, could you please explain more about the game?" The business suit lady asked cautiously.

"Ah! Of course! You will all be transported to a copied city from the surface and you will all have to eliminate each other until exactly five people are left alive and those five will become my new colleagues and the people who were eliminated will end up as fuel for the soul pit, becoming an energy source, tortured for eternity." She paused to let her words sink in, "In order to balance things out, you will all be given an ability. Oh! Wrong wording, your latent ability will be awakened, keep in mind that your awakened ability depends entirely on your nature and cannot be altered.

"There are no rules for you to adhere to, if you want to form teams then you will not be stopped, anything is permitted. Any questions?"

The humans in the nervously glanced at their opponents, despite their humanity binding them together, this was a matter of life and death and none of them were prepared to be used as fuel for the ominous sounding 'soul pit'.

"What if there is someone who still continues to... Eliminate the others even after there are only five of them left?"

"No need to worry as soon as there are exactly five people left the game will immediately end and the winners will be brought to the higher-ups to receive posts. That's simple enough isn't it?"

Manager gave them a cheery smile making them all shiver.

"Is that all?" She asked without expecting an answer. "Then let us begin!" She slammed her white hand on the table and suddenly all the people in the room collapsed like puppets whose strings had been cut.

The malicious smile on Manager's face disappeared and gave way to a look of indifference and annoyance, she snapped her fingers and the people on the floor each fell into a hole that suddenly appeared on the floor.

"I've the next batch to the arena, prepare to receive them." She said coldly to the air.
