The Beginning!

[Volume 1: The concept of Kindness!]

[Arc 1: Showdown at the Test Center!]

What does it mean to have a family? It was a hard question for both Ariel, who lost everything by the time he could realize the importance of it, and Azariel, who never had one to begin with.

"Azariel! Ariel!" shouted the mother of the twins, Rhea, as she called them down at the breakfast table.

"Coming, mother!" Azariel shouted back from the first floor, his voice containing extra energy than usual.

"Azariel, you punk!!" Ariel, who shouted even louder than Azariel, had a taste of anger in his voice. Probably another trick placed by Azariel on him.

In a way, both the boys were experiencing the joy of having a normal family for the first time. For the past 5 years, they did all the things they thought they would have done if they ever had a chance to live a normal life.

Whether it was reincarnation or regression, it was truly a blessing either way. This second life somehow felt more fulfilling than the centuries they had lived. They were truly happy, enjoying most of what they had been blessed with.

Their father, Edward, who was reading the newspaper, looked up with a joy-filled smile on his face. Those boys surely were energetic for their age. Even Rhea couldn't help but shake her head with a chuckle.

Despite both the parents being busy with their jobs, the parents needed no nanny for the children. While they fought and teased each other, the parents somehow felt that these children were way too mature for their peers.

"SHUT IT YOU BOTH!! AT LEAST DON'T CREATE ANY MESS FOR TODAY!!!" And then there was Emily, their eldest daughter.

Even Emily, who seemed like a child during the early days, now felt like an adult member of the family. Though today was an exception where Emily was losing her composure for the most part.

While this could have been just another day at the Quint Household, it was actually not so. This was because Emily had to go for her aptitude test today,

According to the Law, every child who has turned 10, has to go for an aptitude test starting 10th August till the end of the month. Emily turned 10 about 6 months back, and had been looking forward to today for a very long time.

Nothing special about August 10th, except for the fact that it was the first president's son's birthday.

Though the aptitude test was something that wasn't something that simple. It was a test to measure the potential and talent of the young children, and so it can decide the future of the children.

If you happen to get a low score, or have poor talent, your entire life can become miserable. And god forbid if you got both bad. At that point, you are simply doomed.

"When is the test again?" Azariel asked as he moved down behind Emily, who was still fuming. While he already knew, he was just trying to irritate Emily a little. It was one of his favorite pastimes, all these years.

"In about an hour. We should leave after breakfast," Emily answered with a slight glare as she looked at Azariel. After being fooled and getting annoyed repeatedly, she was now more or less used to it.

Since the venue was a 20 minute car ride away, the family wasn't worried too much. In fact, even if she couldn't get done today, she can take it tomorrow, or even later. And it's not like it was the only venue, since the city had a dozen such venues.

It's just that Emily wanted to find out about her own potential as soon as possible, hence the family held the breakfast an hour earlier and was ready to drive her there. Edward even took a break from his job for this purpose.

As for the twins, this day was equally important, since Ariel wanted to show Azariel on how this world functions. And also to show him a couple of important children who were going to be their allies and enemies.

Azariel moved towards the kitchen and proceeded helping Rhea as usual, while Emily checked for all the necessary documents she needed to carry.

"I AM READY!!!" Ariel shouted as he jumped down the stairs, reaching the floor, and energetically held both his hands up in the air, while the rest of the family members ignored him.

"Such a buzzkill!" He wasn't bothered by it, though. Instead, he just moved towards the dinner table and took his seat.

Normally, he would be cleaning the room after both their parents and Emily went to school, but today was special, so he finished cleaning last night before sleeping.

The family then collected at the table, before they prayed silently before having breakfast. As usual, Azariel irritated Emily a little, while Ariel joined from time to time.

After the food was finished, the three children took the plates to the sink, washed them with proper coordination, finished everything within a few minutes, and then placed them in their respective drawers.

"Dear. Are they really our children?" Rhea was proud of them, while Edward smiled, holding Rhea by her waist.

"We are truly blessed," Edward replied before he called the three of them to leave as they finished their work.

Emily hurried forward, while the twins walked while talking to each other in the language of Azariel's native world, which he taught Ariel in the past few years. Though they never talked like that in front of their parents yet cause this would panic them.

"Sipade dal inea pi (What is her talent and aptitude, again?)" (Azariel)

"Elsi an iha ( It is a B-Grade Magic Potential with a C-Grade Talent." (Ariel)

"Li enta? I cna eau her arerit (Are you sure about that? She at least has an A-Grade Talent. And it's related to an ice related attribute)" (Azariel)

"Liwa? Nil maun ea. Mira wa? (Who knows? It's not like I am sure we caused any changes. Maybe it got better?)" (Ariel)

The boys argued back and forth for a few more minutes before silently sitting in the car for the rest of the journey.
