Space Mecha!

The pinnacle of human war technology.

There is no weapon more powerful, terrifying, or destructive than it.

It is a mobile fortress, a walking cannon, a steel behemoth, a humanoid warship.

Compared to space mecha, ground assault suits are like toys in people's hands. The largest ground suit doesn't compare to the smallest finger of a space mecha.

The key to such a huge difference lies in the fact that space mecha operate in zero gravity.

Without gravity, objects with significant mass can move with minimal force in space. The vast size and weight of space mecha do not hinder their movement because there is no gravity to restrict them. Even the pilots, connected via neural links, need only a small amount of force to control the mecha.

This allows space weapons to rapidly grow in size and ultimately become these colossal hundred-meter beasts.

When mecha reach this height, they become small-scale spacecraft themselves, equipped with their own thrusters, power sources, and manufacturing facilities. Apart from the effects of their own mass, the limitation on further expansion comes from the requirements of spacecraft.

As starships need to have the ability to land on gravity planets, they have weight requirements for payloads. Overly large space mecha are a burden for starships, so often when starships descend on gravity planets, they release the space mecha before landing. However, considering that in some special situations, it may be necessary to carry mecha for landing, space mecha are ultimately limited in size.

Even so, hundred-meter mecha have become humanity's most powerful single-unit weapons, second only to weapons like nuclear bombs and black hole bombs in terms of super-destructive power. In conventional combat, there is nothing that can match the combat effectiveness of space mecha.

However, due to their unique characteristics, space mecha are limited to combat only in space and cannot fight in any environment with gravity. Otherwise, even one-tenth of Earth's gravity is enough to immobilize the pilot.

For this reason, space mecha have never been able to fight on the ground.

Not even near the ground!

The location where Reno and the others are now is within the Earth's gravitational field.

Although the gravitational pull at this location has decreased, the weight it can produce is still far beyond what any human can withstand.

Using space mecha in this environment is like carrying a mountain on one's back!

However, now, this blatantly illogical thing is happening right in front of Matthew's eyes, happening in front of everyone, shocking them to the point of disbelief, almost making them doubt if they are hallucinating.

"How... how is this possible?!" Matthew shouted loudly.

Reno's loud voice came: "Have you seriously investigated me, Matthew?"

This question caught Matthew off guard.

"If you have, you would know how I became the commander of the Mecha Battalion. If you have, you would know why I was selected for the Abraxas and went on that damn mission... Because I am the only one who can use space mecha in near-Earth space!"

This answer completely shocked Matthew.

"I don't believe it!" He shouted out of instinct, even though he had seen this scene, he still shouted.

But regardless of whether he believed it or not, the fact that was happening finally shattered all his fantasies mercilessly.

Reno was no longer interested in talking nonsense with him. The massive space mecha, like a majestic god descending from the sky, galloped among the shuttlecraft group. From a distance, it looked like a giant beast charging into the ranks of human soldiers, unleashing ruthless slaughter.

The combat style of space mecha is simple and brutal: charge into the shuttlecraft fire and then swing a sword, cutting through everything in its path like cutting through paper.

The shuttlecraft's attacks on the space mecha were like scratching an itch.

The scene at Edward Hospital was replayed. Space mecha completely ignored any attacks against them and ruthlessly harvested their opponents.

"No, no, no!" Matthew screamed, holding his head.

He was on the verge of madness.

All calmness and confidence were gone at this moment, replaced only by endless horror.

His deputy, the captain of the constabulary, had not given up resistance yet and was still desperately commanding the battle: "Counterattack! Launch electromagnetic pulses!"

One electromagnetic shock wave after another came.

However, the constabulary captain's calculations fell short. The space mecha continued to attack at ease, completely unaffected.

This means that Reno was not bluffing. This was not controlled by an AI, but indeed Reno himself. Only the driver's control can completely ignore the effects of electromagnetic pulses and react quickly.

These reactions are not programmed; they fully demonstrate the characteristics of a human warrior.

When a large number of cluster missiles targeted the relatively vulnerable eyes of the space mecha, the mecha tilted slightly and then leaped up - flames burst from its feet as it soared into the air.

It didn't dodge the cluster of missiles. Instead, they all collided with the mecha's abdomen, creating clouds of smoke.

The mecha remained unmoved. When the last missile came, its huge hand even made a move that a human hand couldn't do: it caught the missile and allowed it to explode in its palm.

"Get out of here, quickly get out of here!" Matthew shouted.

He was completely terrified, no longer had the courage to fight Reno.

All the shuttlecraft began to retreat, withdrawing in all directions.

But Reno shook his head. He said, "Launch the sidewinders."

The massive space mecha's rear hatch opened, and missile after missile soared into the sky.

Space mecha are not just close combat weapons; they are themselves vast arsenals, with hundreds of various weapons. Previously, they were not used because Reno felt it was unnecessary.

But when the target tried to escape, he started launching missiles.

Seeing a large number of missiles coming, Matthew panicked.

He shouted frantically, "Eject, eject quickly!"

One after another, ejection pods were ejected from the shuttlecraft like cans, floating down to the ground. Due to the high altitude, the pods' onboard AI systems began to release parachutes to decelerate, avoiding casualties from the high gravity overload.

But this also exposed a large number of ejection pods to Reno's guns.

However, Reno sighed when he glanced at those ejection pods and ultimately didn't act.

Killing is never the goal.

At least not for humans.

Destroying the shuttlecraft was just to prevent those pilots from coming back to cause trouble. Achieving what he did now was enough.

But as he was about to leave, a ground escort ship appeared in the distance.

The Lakrazaf.

Coincidentally, the one that appeared at this moment was the ground escort ship that Clarisse had identified.

Ground escort ships are a type of small spacecraft designed for operation near planets with gravity. These escort ships are relatively small and lightweight, making them suitable for activities within a planet's gravitational field.

But "small" here is relative to galaxy-class starships.

Even if it's just an ordinary ground escort ship, the Lakrazaf's length exceeds twelve hundred meters, several times larger than the former Earth carrier. Equipped with more than three hundred weapon systems, including lasers, particle cannons, electromagnetic cannons, and high-frequency microwave emitters, its formidable firepower is enough to flatten a mountain in an instant. Even space mecha, as powerful as

they are, cannot ignore the firepower of the escort ship.

As the Lakrazaf ground escort ship approached from afar, everyone cheered for victory.

Space mecha might be powerful, but there is only one, and it cannot possibly match the firepower of a more powerful ground escort ship.

However, the space mecha under Reno's control just tilted its head.

It looked at the approaching escort ship and said, "Common sense is meant to be subverted. Matthew, haven't you understood this yet?"

Then, this space mecha suddenly stopped its charge.

It stood quietly in the air, as if waiting for something, with only its eyes emitting a faint red light.

Through the porthole, Matthew, inside the ejection pod, saw this scene, which made his heart tremble slightly, giving rise to an inexplicable sense of familiarity.

Then he saw a pair of pure white wings sprouting from the back of the mecha.

They were wings made of a special alloy, with ion thrusters spewing flames at the base. Each wing had eighteen thrusters, totaling thirty-six, emitting flames behind the mecha, generating tremendous kinetic energy.

Then the mecha suddenly shot out, not upward, but downward, like a beam of light, drawing a huge arc of flames in the sky, heading towards the underside of the escort ship.

At the same time, the ship's weapons began to prepare for launch, but it couldn't even lock onto the mecha before it was rapidly approaching. This was due to the sudden short-range combat caused by the orbit near the Earth's surface, where the distance between the two sides was much smaller than their respective firing ranges, resulting in close combat from the start.

And in close combat, there is nothing stronger than a space mecha.

The silver space mecha whizzed past from below, then quickly turned upward.

From bottom to top, this silver mecha with wings soared at full speed, spiraling rapidly while ascending.

Its rotation speed was so fast that under normal circumstances, a mecha couldn't perform such a maneuver.

While spinning, the silver mecha's arm raised, revealing a huge energy spear, shimmering white under the starry sky. With the momentum of a spinning drill, it charged towards the sky, heading straight for the belly of the escort ship.

The belly is the ship's weak point, where defense and firepower are almost weakest. As the space mecha flew up from below toward the escort ship, it looked like a person throwing a full-force punch, aiming directly at the target's vital point.

Watching this scene, Matthew finally remembered something.

He shouted in disbelief and excitement, "Silver Wing Angel! So it's you... it's you..."

Amidst Matthew's hysterical and incredulous shouts, the so-called Silver Wing Angel, the sky mecha, rushed up and forcefully thrust its huge energy spear into the belly of the Lakrazaf escort ship, causing a burst of brilliant light.

A hit straight through!
