While Reno dodged the shells, Antonia flew into the air. Her dual guns blazed, firing rapid beams of light at the three mechs. A stunning scene unfolded as the massive mech pistols, under Antonia's control, moved with precision, and the bullet streams converged into a straight line, hitting all three mechs in the same area.
To change energy defense modes, both mechs and warships had defense modules. These modules operated independently but could be unified through energy channels to continuously switch defense modes based on the situation, aiming to defend against the strongest attacks with minimal energy expenditure.
However, when a target used comprehensive defense and encountered attacks concentrated on a single defense module, it was easy to cause energy overload and quickly destroy that energy module. Although the destruction of a single module did not affect overall energy levels significantly, the area would lose its energy shield defense function.
For most people, destroying an energy module in such a short time was not easy, but Antonia was an exception.
A raging stream of flames instantly pierced through the Specter's abdominal defense module.
With a spark, the energy shield there disappeared. Due to the module's destruction, other areas could not provide support, and more bullet streams poured onto the Specter's abdomen.
Ground mechs didn't have the same versatile core defense as space mechs; their armor layers were quickly penetrated, followed by the entire internal systems being impacted. This was the mech's critical area; after being attacked, the entire mech would be paralyzed and lose its mobility.
Then Antonia turned her fire towards the Wolf.
"Attack the other one!" Reno shouted.
Antonia hesitated for a moment but followed his command and directed her firepower towards the Swordfish.
Reno's perception was accurate. Although he didn't know what had happened, or that the Wolf had been locked out of two weapon systems due to a violation, he could still see that the Wolf was the weakest in terms of offensive capabilities.
The enraged Wolf brandished its energy sword and charged forward, almost in a frenzy.
Reno's energy shield still couldn't be restored. Watching the Wolf charging towards him, he ignited his own energy sword.
"Die!" The Wolf yelled as it charged.
"I prefer to say... goodbye."
Boom!
A massive burst of positron energy struck the Wolf, sending it flying.
"You!" The Wolf roared furiously.
"Just because I showed my sword doesn't mean I want to fight you, idiot," Reno replied.
Still affected by the shock, unable to even activate his energy shield, engaging in close combat was truly foolish. He had only shown his sword as a bluff.
As he spoke, Reno fired several shots in succession. Since he couldn't defend, he would attack with all his might.
In the smoke, the Wolf's mech was completely reduced to scrap metal. Under the fierce firepower, even whether the Wolf himself was still alive was uncertain.
This was the most frustrating part for Reno later— not knowing whether the Wolf was alive or dead meant not knowing if he had killed someone. It also meant he couldn't answer questions like "Captain, when was the first time you killed someone?" when he went to battle.
At the moment the Wolf fell, the Swordfish also reached its end.
The powerful attacks unleashed by Antonia's precise marksmanship astonished Reno. He asked, "You didn't use this move when fighting against me, did you?"
Antonia landed back on the ground, scavenging for energy and ammunition while catching her breath. She replied, "Because it's not as simple as it looks. It requires intense concentration and consumes a lot of energy. Just before I fought you, I encountered a tough opponent and had to use this move to defeat them, so I didn't have the energy to use it against you."
Her words carried a strong sense of "you're lucky if you beat me."
Reno didn't mind. He had never denied that the opponent's skills were superior to his own. So he smiled and said, "So it's a skill that needs cooldown."
"Sort of. Hey, aren't you going to thank me? I just saved you," Antonia said.
"Thank you very much, Queen Antonia!"
As Reno spoke, the cockpit of the Silver Wing Angel suddenly opened, and Reno emerged from the mech.
"What are you doing?" Antonia asked.
"The mech is damaged, and the energy shield can't be activated. It needs repairs."
Hearing that the energy shield couldn't be activated, Antonia frowned. "That's probably not a minor problem. Are you sure you can fix it?"
"I've studied mech repairs." Reno had climbed onto the side of the Silver Wing Angel and opened a damaged hatch, starting to tinker with it using repair tools.
Antonia folded her arms and watched Reno work.
Because she had always been inside her mech, Antonia hadn't seen Reno in person much. The only time she had seen him was after the first match, and it was only for a few seconds.
This was considered the second time Antonia had seen Reno in person, and she was curious about what kind of boy he really was.
One thing she didn't tell Reno was that she had once ordered her family's servants to investigate him. Of course, this wasn't targeted solely at him but at all outstanding individuals.
The report from her family's servants concluded that the Shadow was most likely from the Alpha Academy. This judgment was based on his tactical skills and age, as well as the fact that only students from there needed to conceal their true identities—the change of the new and old deans and the related changes that followed were no longer secrets.
The only problem was that while Reno's tactical performance met the standards of Alpha Academy's top students, his technical performance seemed lacking—her family's servants hadn't found a single student from the Alpha Mech Branch who met their criteria, even among the outstanding ones.
Of course, they didn't know that Reno wasn't even a student of the Mech Branch. This directional mistake led many to suspect Reno but failed to locate him.
At this moment, this puzzling mystery was right in front of Antonia's eyes. There was a moment when Antonia even had the urge to grab Reno immediately and find out who this kid really was.
Fortunately, she managed to suppress that urge.
Reno had no idea that in just a short moment, he had experienced a journey from heaven to hell and back to heaven. Skillfully turning the wrench, he removed the damaged parts, used the analyzer to read the component's prototype, generated the drawings automatically, and sent them to the repair system. A new triangular component began printing.
No one could predict what damage a mech might suffer, but the repair system effectively solved this problem by automatically generating new parts through printing. Of course, the parts obtained in this way were generally not durable, but they were much faster and more convenient. Moreover, the battlefield was constantly changing, so there was no need to consider long-term durability issues.
Although the repair system could produce components, identifying problems and installing them still required the repair personnel themselves, unlike space mechs, ground mechs didn't have automatic repair robots.
Reno found over thirty damaged parts one by one and repaired them. After pressing a button, the mech emitted a faint white light.
"Done." Reno clapped his hands. "Is there anything in your mech that needs fixing? Since we're repairing, I can help you too."
No response.
Reno was puzzled and turned to look, only to see Antonia sitting in the cockpit, lost in thought.
"Hey, what's wrong?" he asked.
"Ah!" Antonia snapped out of her daze. "What did you say?"
Reno sighed. "I said, is there anything in your mech that needs fixing? I can help you."
Antonia collected herself and replied, "Um... the right leg seems a bit sluggish."
"Let me check." Reno jumped onto the Crimson Widow.
After a brief inspection, he said, "The neuron transmission system is damaged. You'll have to come out for this repair."
Antonia opened the cockpit and jumped out, wearing a red fiber suit that showcased her graceful figure to the fullest. As Reno looked at her curves, his heart skipped a beat.
But the next moment, he focused his attention back on the mech.
"Do you need any help?" Antonia asked.
"Um, pass me that octagonal wrench, please. Thanks."
"I should be thanking you." Antonia handed over the tool and took a glance at the components on the mech. "I tried to learn once, but I just couldn't get it. There are so many parts, and they look so complicated."
"It's not actually that complicated. You see, this is the neural sensor line, and it connects to..."
As Reno repaired and explained the components, Antonia listened with interest, occasionally stealing a glance at Reno, instinctively trying to catch a glimpse of his true face through the slits in his mask.
This was just a subconscious behavior, but it brought her closer to Reno.
Their sexy bodies were only separated by an ultra-thin fabric, one that didn't affect the feeling of touch.
They naturally touched each other, then quickly pulled away as if shocked.
Then they looked at each other.
Then Antonia smiled and walked side by side with Reno, ignoring the occasional contact.
In the public stands, Claire watched this scene, her hands tightly clenched, her face slightly pale.
Nora sat beside her.
She squeezed out a sentence through her teeth, "This shameless bitch!"
