Chapter 15: Hellish Training I

"ha…ha…ha" gasping for his breath Lazarus chose to lie down on his back. His clothes drenched in sweat. He finds a water bottle to his right and desperately grabs it and opens the lid to only stuff himself with water. Such crude and inelegant action did not befit someone like him with his noble status yet he couldn't care less about it. Lazarus was moaning in pain due to his aching legs, that 50 laps around the mansion was incredibly hard for him. Many times he fell down due to exhaustion but he forced himself back up, if he couldn't do that himself Jeremiah, the literal incarnation of evil was watching him the whole time and made sure he would get up.

While Lazarus was resting he grew vigilant because of the footsteps he began to hear, from what he could deduce the sound grew louder and louder meaning someone was heading towards him. He looked at the direction of the footsteps and found who it was.

That monster, why does someone like him exist? At this point it's almost impossible for me to not think he is a demon disguised as human but the only reason I'm not insisting on that was because he was picked by father. Oh no. Not that hateful smile. It looks so gentle and comforting yet to me it symbolises the advent of hell soon to befall me.

He arrives right next to me and says "Good job, you finished the 50 laps in 3 hours. I honestly expected it to take 4 or even 5 hours but you are much better than I expected young master. Alright enough of my rambling, it's 12:00 right now so you have till 12:05 so enjoy your rest while you can young master because you still have more to do".

Jeremiah heads away after reminding me that my hell is yet to be over but has only has begun.

Sigh

I can't help but regret my decision on asking for a trainer yesterday. I thought it was the best choice as it's better to be guided by an expert than to work out how to train and what to focus on improving myself. If I had taken the solo route it would definitely take me much longer to complete my training which I wouldn't want to happen. The quicker I complete this training and reach D rank the better the reward I will get, I have to take full advantage of this opportunity and get the best reward I can. Not only that but my actions would be monitored the whole time during my training and I can only stay at home unless I need to head to a dungeon. I don't want to go to a dungeon when I don't know how to fight properly, even if it's the weakest F rank monster I still wouldn't change my mind.

Dungeons are dangerous places, especially for weaklings like me. One mistake and I can die, killed by goblins or other F ranked monsters. But I doubt I'll be sent inside the dungeon alone so I will probably be accompanied by a bodyguard because father and in particular mother and sister will be paranoid for my safety. My inexperience and lack of combat skills are holding me back, I'm sure my Decay can easily kill low ranked mobs but just relying on it won't be helpful in honing my skills

After getting my reward and completing my training I won't be restricted to the property anymore and can wander around to a few places. Only then can I head off to Tygan town for the Tyrgan Ruins nearby there. That's where the perfect specimen for Devour is waiting for me, the person who will help me grow tremendously stronger after his noble sacrifice. I wonder what face he will make when he realises he I'll die, ha it will be hilarious to witness. But for me to accomplish that I need to first survive this training.

"Hmm?" I glance to my right only to see Jeremiah back.

He smiles and joyfully announces "Time's up".

I look up at him in horror, thankfully it's hard for me to express emotions on my face otherwise I'm sure he would be amused by my expression. Unfortunately my inner monologue was too long and as a result I couldn't enjoy my rest. Slowly, I struggled to stand up and walked towards the mansion where the gym should be to carry out my next set of exercises, I couldn't help but my grimace at the horrible fate ahead of me. I truly am an unlucky and pitiful person.

Sigh

8 gruelling hours later.

I walked slower than a turtle towards my room, barely able to stand up due to how fatigued I was. Weakly holding onto the railing of the stairs I walked up one step at a time to only stop at the sound of a very VERY familiar voice.

"Rus?" Cecilia questioned me.

I sluggishly turned my head towards her with tremendous effort and stared into her eyes.

Cecilia had just finished eating dinner and planned to go upstairs to her room. She was quite upset and annoyed that her dear and lovely brother wasn't present, when she asked her father he said Lazarus was training. This had frustrated her more, forcing her to eat in a gloomy mood. She always ate together with Lazarus, so this time at dinner she found it very unusual and uncomfortable which was why she finished her food quickly. Now currently, as she was walking towards the stairs she saw a figure very similar to her adorable brother. The figure looked exhausted and tired.

Cecilia couldn't help but unconsciously call out "Rus?" in an interrogative tone.

Once she saw the figure turning his head and seeing it was her amazingly cute and undefinably handsome awesome great brother she gasped in shock. His eyes looked so dead, Lazarus was trying his utmost best to keep his eyes open to prevent himself falling asleep. He looked as if he had suffered from the most torturous torture in the very history of the universe. She found him so… so pitiful.

Cecilia ran up to make sure he was ok even though she knew he wasn't but she couldn't help it.

She exclaimed in worry "how did this happen to you?"

Lazarus replied with "sister, help me reach my room please". He spoke slowly that even the mighty turtles would be shocked and astonished at the speed he spoke his words.

Cecilia didn't question him further about the state he was in and obliged to his wish and swiftly took him to his room. Once Lazarus arrived next to his bed he without warning collapsed onto his bed and was fast asleep. Cecilia just looked at this and worried for her little brother's health. Soon she left after turning off the lights, in order for him to enjoy his rest peacefully.
