"Okay, listen dimwit, you were inside an illusion and I just bought you out of it and also there's no way I'm going to let myself go out in the hands or paws of a monster!" I explained as calmly as I could.
After my words, he visibly calmed down and then after a few moments he asked "So everything was an illusion? my parents, my sister and grandfather all brutally killed, my family reduced to slaves and you, torn to shreds by an eldritch monster".
"Fuck, I'll fucking destroy this stupid palace!" he exclaimed. It was the first time I had seen him this angry or even genuinely angry for that matter.
"Hold your horses, if you just charge in like before wouldn't you just end up the same as before?" I reasoned. That seemed to calm him down but I could see he was still agitated. The illusion must have done a number on him.
Suddenly my instincts were started flaring alarmingly, and if there's one thing I'll never do, it's to not follow my instincts. In a sit second I blinked away to a few meters and so did Owen. Not even a second after, a human sized ice shard impacted where we stood a moment ago.
"I'll be damned" I let out as I felt the chilly air pressure from the impact swept past me.
Soon the perpetrator flew into view, it was a peak gold ranked Asura with ram like horns and his palms expelling an icy air and facing the direction where the ice shard had impacted. "So it's just two little fledglings and you both managed to dodge that, it seems you're not so weak after all" he spoke with a raspy voice.
"Leave this one to me" I said to Owen before flying to the same height as the asura.
"What's the deal with that palace?" I asked because I really needed to know if it was someone's doing or natural. I've heard about places like this, they're naturally bizarre and some haven't been explained till date.
But it might also be a bloodline ability. And if it is, then that means there's a platinum ranked Asura lurking around because there was no way a gold rank would be able to trap hundreds of silver ranks and about fifteen gold ranks.
"And why would I tell you?" the asura asked.
"Fair point, it seems I just have to tear it out of you".
Without giving him a chance to reply, I multiplied the gravity acting on our surrounding. The asura caught unprepared pummeled back to the ground from a height of seven meters.
Seeing him fall I didn't waste a single moment, I was already in front of him the next moment. Without giving him any chance to react I caught one of his arm and twisted it in an unnatural angle.
"Bastard I'll kill...Argh" he let out another scream as I twisted his other arm. After that I pushed him to face flat to the ground and climbed onto his back while still holding both of his twisted arms.
Suddenly I felt my danger sense flaring as ice stated forming from the Asuras palms and about to blast towards me but I just shifted his arms away to the sides making the ice shards on his palms miss me.
So I was right the ice could only come out from his palms. To be honest, I had taken a gamble after I saw his palms exuding a chilly air and aimed towards us and so I thought 'could it be he could only use his ability from his palms?' That was why I had quickly immobilized his arms. If I was right, the fight would be over before it started.
"Now will you tell me what's the deal with the palace?" I asked again.
"Fuck you" he barely let out.
"I see, the hard way then" I said and bought his right arm onto his back and stepped firmly on it. Then I bought out my dagger and held his still twisted broken left arm.
"Wha...what are you doing" he stammered.
"The palace" I simply said. He didn't answer so I held my dagger tighter and made a deep incision from his shoulder down to his elbow as blood gushed out like a fountain.
"Kyahhhhh" he screamed his lungs out.
"The palace" I said once again but he was still busy screaming to answer so I once again made a cut from his wrist drawing it once again to his elbow.
"KYAHHHHHH" his screams increased and became even louder.
"The palace" I asked again for the third time but he was still wallowing in pain. So I exchanged arms, I freed his left arm that was gushing out blood and went for his right one.
"You know, a wise man once said, the third time's a charm" I said as I placed my dagger on his right shoulder.
"W..wa...wait I'll shalk" he said in fear and agony.
"What was that? I didn't hear you?"
"I said I'll talk" he said once again.
"Easy right, we wouldn't have gone this far if you had just talked in the first place. So now the palace".
"It's shrouded in Aggras's authority, he got news that human scions were on the isle the day you arrived" he answered. An authority huh? It seems I was right, there's a platinum ranked Asura in there.
"And who's Aggras?"
"He's an early platinum rank asura, his authority shrouds the entire palace and induces victims into their dream life or worst nightmare" the asura answered.
Owen probably was thrown...no definitely was thrown into his worst nightmare.
"See wasn't so hard now was it? Now you can rest" I said as I decisively pierced his throat coloring the ivory dagger scarlet. He couldn't even scream before he died.
Stepping away from the corpse, I saw Owen looking at me with his mouth agape.
"What? I asked. "Nothing, just didn't know you were that ruthless or dark" he paused before he continued "but I like it!!" he exclaimed seemingly regaining his 'the boys' personality.
