Mid term break

The nerve of them to try that' he thought and increases his speed, but then just as the three of them were just about a meter away from the asura, a purple blade suddenly materialized and instantaneously split the asura in two.

Three people vying for victory, each trying to attain it, determination and resolve sparkled in their eyes but at the end they lost the prize.

**Adam Walker's POV**

Calling what I felt shock will be an understatement.

One moment I was flying towards the platinum ranked Asura that Damien knocked to the ground, and so was Owen and Damien himself, it was a race to determine the final victor which I was determined to be and the next moment, just as I was a meter away from the asura, a purple blade silently appeared behind the asura and split him into two equal parts.

I barely stopped myself from crashing into the corpse that was falling both left and right at the same time.

Not long after, the preparator appeared, she was as ethereal as ever and so was her expressionless face and figure that would make lesser men bow. Her amethyst eyes with the depths of an abyss and dark purple hair like a nebula.

Her gaze was locked on us for a few moments before Owen broke the silence.

"Way to go ruining our fun Aurora" Owen snickered. And while i outwardly had a calm expressionless face, I was barely holding back the urge to curse. Even emo dude's eye was twitching, a testement to his frustration. Actually I feel for the guy, he did the hard work after all not that the result would change even if the asura was at full power.

Aurora didn't care about their dissatisfaction, she had been here since the before the fight started, she simply didn't feel the need to act, she even saw when Owen and Adam had ran away and when they came back. And she also realized their plan. So since two rats wanted to steal from a rat why not let the cat have it instead.

Though she was pretty sure the guy with Owen didn't have silver eyes before.

"I was totally going to win you know" Owen said. "Nope, pretty sure I was the closest to the asura, so there was no way you would have gotten to him before me considering I'm faster than you" I replied.

"That's a lie, and so what even if you were the closest to him, I have telekinesis remember, I could simply twist his neck before your dagger pierces him" he bit back.

We continued bantering and Damien...well he got his group who were still glaring daggers at Owen and flew away.

As for Aurora well.....

"Where is she" I asked Owen as I looked around and she had disappeared.

"Who Aurora?" he asked to which I nodded.

"How am I supposed to know, we're both here together, if you don't know how do you expect me to?" he asked.

"Fair point, so what do we do now?"

"There are not a lot of Asuras left, even if there are, then they're hiding somewhere, which I don't have the energy to start looking for" he drawled.

"How about this?, we search around for two days more and then we can go back" I suggested.

"Fine" he said before he continued "Edward, you guys can go on your own, I don't have the energy to lead" he said to Edward and the other five of his clan members.

"What, tired of the charade?" I asked. "Yeah, that's simply not me, besides they know I was acting all along. It was merely a tacit understanding that they wouldn't call me out on it" he explained.

"Figured" I replied. Honestly I could tell from the looks they were giving him, they knew it was an act. Honestly how could they not, they were part of the same family after all.

"Let's go" I said as I saw the other cadets trapped in the mirror palace start to come out. Some looked emaciated, likely from the lack of food for the past week, they weren't at gold rank so it was understandable.

And with that we flew away and searched around for the next two days, having not encountered any asura, we decided it was time to give up.

"I give up" we both said simultaneously and a bright light enveloped us, when the light receded, we were back at the academy, precisely where we boarded the ship that took us to kand-har ruins.

"Ah I see some cadets are back. It seems there are more survivors than there were last year" said a voice before we saw an instructor headed towards us.

"What do you mean more survivors" I curiously asked. "I meant what I said" he replied before he continued "During their first mid term, the current second year, out of two thousand cadets, barely 1200 returned, the rest..." he didn't complete his sentence and he didn't need to.

The rest had all died. "But this time, you're the 1643 and 1644 respectively to return" he added.

"Anyway, show me your points" he said to which we extended our hands towards him.

"My my, some geniuses we have here" he chuckled. "How much are our points?" Owen asked curiously. "I'm afraid it's not in my pay to tell" he chuckled once again.

"Tsk" Owen clicked his tongue. After the instructor recorded whatever our points were, we were free to go.

We took a portal and got to the dorms.

"I need a bath and I mean really, so I'll meet you later" I said to Owen and without even waiting for him to answer, I flew up to my balcony.

"Open" I said. The barrier let out a shimmer registering my voice before it blinked out. I entered my dorm, it was just the way I left it.

"Now for the much needed bath" I muttered as I headed for the bathroom. Long story short, I spent over half an hour in the bathroom but it was all worth it.

Coming out of the bathroom, my watch beeped signifying I had a messagewhich I clicked on. "Good job for coming back alive cadet, you have exactly two weeks and three days as a holiday".
